  1. There's a GF B&B in San Antonio and I bet they could give you their two cents about what has worked and what hasn't. I was happy to find them but we were sharing with another couple and rented a house instead. If you had the low-down on where to eat and who to ask for, I would consider that a very nice value add. Your guests would have a lot to talk...
  2. I figured out a compromise. Wish more people wrote in the blog area!
  3. I've been hit with too much stress at once. Going to focus on mitigating it. More Omega3s, food, walks, scenic drives... How Stress Wreaks Havoc On Your Gut: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Being obnoxious is exactly what I want to avoid. Writing is helping me to work things out. Hmmm...
  5. ...without dominating the "recent blog entries" box on the main page?
  6. 3-12: I eat two slices of a three cheese gluten-free pizza. | | | ¥ 3-20/21: still paying for it daily with changing symptoms. Even things I normally eat hurt. Argh I feel like one of those squeeze toys where, when you squeeze the stomach, the eyes pop out. Never again cow dairy. In time, I'll have some goat yogurt but never again ...
  7. The Tide is High -- Blondie
  8. Take Me Home, Country Roads -- John Denver That and OCD
  9. Free Bird* -- Lynyrd Skynyrd Ha ha ha. Just establishing parameters here in the spirit of future moves. *edited: whoops! Misspelled the song!
  10. Is that, uh, legal?
  11. Sailing -- Christopher Cross Good on ya!
  12. There are Places -- Beatles I realized I could come PLAY! Good timing!
  13. Fire and Rain -- James Taylor
  14. Ditto! Putting new Koolatron to the test! Yes. I know the feeling too. I did find a restaurant that I've eaten at about five times without being glutened! It's 20 miles away and super expensive, but it is nice to have one restaurant I can trust. Congratulations on being gluten-free for five months! Am I to understand that you haven't yet had a glutening...
  15. Thank you! I'll be with a group as well and am planning on bringing a cooler and portable cookware. I'll just eat on my own and will order a side salad (& not eat it) so that I'm not staring at a placemat while everyone else is eating! So far, I haven't had much success with restaurants and the group won't be considering my dietary needs when choosing...
  16. I'm not sure how you made the emoticon but that is the look, right there. It did not happen fast for me and this journey can add anxiety in the beginning. It really was a roller coaster ride the first year. I recently read an article where I was surprised to read, (paraphrasing here), "if you feel better immediately upon eliminating gluten, keep it...
  17. I had an appointment to see Dr. Harmon and couldn't stomach the gluten challenge (nor could my husband handle watching me falling down the rabbit hole and he was very vocal about it). Dr. Harmon is supposed to be excellent! I ended up going the Functional Medicine route. My doctor is in Orange County (Mission Viejo). She has helped me identify multiple...
  18. I'm going to Palm Springs soon. How did it turn out for you?
  19. D-Mannose is made from the cranberry. Amazon carries them. I'd imagine they all work pretty well. I have taken D-Mannose when it's raging and was surprised at how fast the infection subsided. Most of mine raged because I'd have no symptoms UNTIL it raged (plus also, foggy head). I get off track if I run out of supplements at the same time I'm dealing...
  20. My gut sounds like a calving glacier.

  21. I lived with OCD since elementary school and had pretty much accepted it as a genetic, permanent reality. After going gluten-free, the symptoms began resolving. Talk about emancipation that was completely unexpected! Also, my GAD, anxiety attacks and mood swings went away. I thought I'd spend my LIFE with these monkeys on my back and it took a lot of...
  22. I've had them since childhood. It was a sad day I had to surrender Mr. Bubble. I discovered D-Mannose which worked faster than any antibiotic regimen I'd been on. My current doctor recommends to her patients with recurrent UTIs to take them everyday and when I'm consistent about that, I don't get the UTI. I expect this will resolve the more I heal! ...
  23. I'm glad I don't have a goat to care for.
  24. Yes, I have been using goat yogurt (a little dollop in my chili) with no discomfort. I don't go overboard. I've drunk goat Kefir which was yummy but after a while I seemed to become more sensitive to it. The goat cheese mozzarella is a little harder to stomach so I avoid it. I do think it's different. Nothing was like this dairy debacle. It's still...
