  1. Ummm, don't eat those Trix!!! Check the 3rd and 4th lines from the bottom for the words wheat starch! The Cocoa puffs look good, how exciting!
  2. Carol, You are quite welcome! All these tests can be confusing, they make sense to me now, but 10 months ago when I was going through dx it was so confusing!! Has your DR tested you for IgA deficiency?? Some celiacs test positive for IgG and neg for IgA due to IgA deficincies! Here is from Open Original Shared Link perhaps it might...
  3. I'm not a Dr, but I believe that the IgG antibodies are less specific, meaning that it points in the direction of celiac, or gluten intolerance, but could be other things as well. the IgA test is more specific to celiac/gluten intolerance. My son had simliar results, but we haven't had further testing done. There is no way in he** that I am going to allow...
  4. I don't have any tooth pain (yet), but I do have pits in two teeth, and the teeth are extremely discolored...
  5. I eat Swedish Fish all the time, haven't YET had a reaction to it, and I am a sensitive one! They didn't tell me about the ingredients issue, but it sounds like a CYA statement to me. What company can guarantee their ingredients sourced from vendors 100%??????
  6. I disagree with your Dr comments on the celiac panel being so sensitive. My serology only showed a slightly elevelated anti-gliadin IgA level. My IgG, and ttg levels were well below normal, BUT my Enterolab tests showed drastic differences as you can see in my original post above. Further, my change in diet showed drastic results!! Enterolab can be reached...
  7. Alot of people react to MSG My wife ends up with a severe migraine the day following MSG ingestion. I read somewhere that MSG in the USA is mostly gluten-free, however MSG manufactored in other countries may have gluten in it....
  8. The skin prick tests are not 100% accurate, but they are the most accurate that we have. They have falsely identified a soy, corn, and wheat allergy in my son. Blood tests were even less reliable, they had so many false positives that we would have had to take my son off of food all together! The BEST food allergy test?? Food diary!!! Keep a list of...
  9. have arthritis and fibromyligia associated with celiac. My rheumotologists mother had Celiac disease so she was quick to identify the relationship. Both the joint and bone/muscle pain subsided GREATLY after going gluten-free. After about 4 months gluten-free I was able to stop taking my Relafen (NSAID). Of course Prednisone always worked to relieve the...
  10. I can't stand the sunshine burgers!! The best soy based veggie burger I've ever had comes from Sunrich Naturals. Open Original Shared Link I've never been able to locate them at a store, and have had to order directly from the manufactorer. shipping is expensive, but they are SOOOOO GOOOOD! We even crumble them up and use them for tacos, and other "ground...
  11. I found that when I first went gluten and dairy free that I was sensitive to many other things as well, beef, chicken, and others. I waited some time for my guts to heal, and now have reintroduced those fods (9months gluten-free) and am able to tolerate everything but milk and gluten now. I've wondered about celiac vs. gluten intolerant as well. It seems...
  12. Hi All!! I am going to request that my GI send out my biopsies for a second opinion. Does anyone know of any labs that perform review/analysis of intestinal biopsies that has a great deal of expierence dealing with Celiac disease??? Thanks!
  13. Actually, I don't have a problem with eggs. Both of my children are allergic to eggs, and other things too. We found out about the egg allergy in Michael through skin prick testing with an allergist after 6 months of suffering and wondering. William we had tested before we introduced food into his diet at 6 months old, and his milk and egg allergy was already...
  14. I'm planning on testing both of my children. They both have alleriges, and I am celiac and casien intolerant. I have both a celiac gene, and a gluten intolerant gene. As such I know that both children have one of those 2 genes. Neither shows any classic symptoms, but they both show some symptoms. Even if they weren't, I want to know what genetics they have...
  15. I believe the diet is based on the Christian bible, and the book was written by a person with Chrons disease. Open Original Shared Link
  16. For me the effects of getting glutened get worse as I remain gluten-free and DF. I have found that I am quite sensitive, and cannot eat in most restaurants. I've had problems with Outback, Chipotle, Amys Kitchen, McDonalds Fries (sorry, had to throw that in!) and many other places, even when being quite careful and ordering simple things. So, I eat mostly...
  17. I think there is too much risk for CC there. They would cook your food on the same grill as everyone elses, with wheat based noodles, wheat sauces, etc. I doubt that they could clean the grill well enough to avoid any CC issues... And I agree, avoid restaurants, at least until you are healthy, and have a strong grasp on the diet!
  18. I thought these were absolutely fantastic. BUT there was an issue with them that we had to stop getting them, and it was the potential for cross contamination with nuts!!! --------------EMAIL RECIEVED FROM COMPANY-------- Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry that I cannot recommend our products as there is a slight chance of cross contamination...
  19. And you must read them every time you purchase food items, in case manufactoring changes occurred!!! It is a pain in the arse, but it is worth it to be healthy!!
  20. Wow, like you I found my nausea/vomiting thing to be pretty unique as well!! Have you had your genetics done? Wondering if there might be some link. Mine are DQ2,2 and DQ3,7
  21. For me the pain is close to unbearable (I'm a lucky micro sensitive person!), however the most annoying is the nausea and belching. Not the actual act of belching, but the most retched, foul, rotten smell and taste that comes with the belching, and lasts around 7 hours (which has actually triggered vomiting). I'll take every other symptom of mine over...
  22. I am no doctor, but I can try to answer: 1. the tests indicate that Brandon posses 2 genes for gluten sensitivity. This obviously means that both Adam and I are carriers of that gene and it was passed down to him. Do Adam and I need to be tested, or should we automatically assume that we are gluten intolerant and follow the same diet? yes, you should...
  23. Vydor, Sorry I misspoke. I read through *some* of the text of the ADA law, and religous orgs are exempt: SEC. 307. EXEMPTIONS FOR PRIVATE CLUBS AND RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS. The provisions of this title shall not apply to private clubs or establishments exempted from coverage under title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000-a...
  24. Got the point on the military aspect!! If all you have available are military rations, then it would be huge logistical issue to feed you! Plus, there are are exemptions in the law, as it does not apply to the Fed Govt I agree that the Govt cannot force a church to ordain someone (I'm not catholic, so please forgive me for any mispeak or misrepresentation...
  25. Why is that??? I've done work and travel in Western Europe and have not had issues finding food to eat! All I need is a grocery store and a kitchen, and a suitcase full of my staples! Also, if Celiac is considered a disability by the military, I'm betting that it is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and as such the Catholic church...
