  1. Hi everyone - a new member here (by default)

My daughter is at her Leaver's party tonight with her best friend (11 years old) who has celiac Disease. I've just had a call from one of the other mum's to say this little girl isn't well and is feeling sick. OH is on his way to pick them both up as the friend is staying with us tonight. Have tried contacting her mum to find out what I need to do but can't reach her so if anyone's reading this and can give me some instant advice as to how I can help her/what I should do please post now.

Is there anything I can give her for nausea?

    Thanks so much

    Sam

Depends on what not feeling well means. If she ate something that she shouldn't have because of her Celiac Disease, here is a list of some gluten free meds. If her tummy is upset she can have some apple sauce, rice, bananas.

Sometimes you just have to ride it out. Hope you can reach the mom soon.

  2. I was diagnosed with celiac in 2001 by colonoscopy, and immediately went gluten free. Can a colonoscopy give a false positive? I've never had any confirming blood work. I'm wondering if I should gluten up and have a complete celiac blood panel. I ate at Burger King a few month ago with no celiac symptoms. I'm currently thinking lyme disease based on my current and long term(3+yr) symptoms.

Celiac can be diagnosed in three ways to date; 1) endoscopy/biopsy of the small intestines 2) positive blood work, and 3) positive dietary response.

I don't know what your doctor was looking for, but it wasn't Celiac. Celiac Disease can not be seen in the large intestines. Perhaps, you meant Endoscopy Exam.

  3. Positive blood test and positive biopsy are diagnostic for Celiac. A negative results of these test cannot rule Celiac out. A biopsy can be hit and miss and is not considered a 100% diagnostic test, only if positive results.

Positive dietary response is also a diagnoses in itself. So, yes, with positive blood test, you do have Celiac. Welcome to the club.

PS: you might want to get a copy of the blood work that your doctors ordered and some people here can help to interpret the results.

  4. I'm looking for a group in Racine, WI for myself and my daughter. Does anyone out there know of any?

    Thanks!

This is the best support you can find right here. Welcome

  5. I don't have DH, but I would put him on the diet immediately. I have heard people say that within several days, they noticed some relief. If it clears, you will know if he has Celiac.

Or you can have him biopsied at the point of outbreak.

Try the diet for a few weeks and see what happens. I hate to see little people struggle.
