  1. This is gross, but I have to ask it:

After you get "glutened," does anyone else have problems with having D, but D that almost "burns" as it comes out of you?

Like an idiot, I ingested Gluten last night at a Halloween Party (Could not resist everything!!) I got home this morning and am sick to my stomach and had D that actually hurt when coming out. It's also very, very stinky and very, very dark in color...almost black.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yup, that's what happens with an autoimmune response to gluten when you "just can't resist" . Sooner than later, you'll find that it's just not worth it. Hope that the other, more significant issues haven't settled in by then. ;)

  2. Hey Tori

Glad that you FINALLY found us!

We have lots of teens here and they love to chat. I'm glad that you love to cook and here on this site we have some really drop dead recipes. You have alot to explore here.

My daughters rode English also. They got involved in combined training and loved it. Girls and horses are special.

Well, welcome to us and glad to meet cha.

  3. Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes. I think it's about time that Scott leaves our ages off the birthday list. I'm with you Jestgar!

I had a great lunch with the Chic's, dinner tonight with friends and the family dinner tomorrow night. Life is good.

There are some really great people here and I've made some forever friends. ;)

    Thank you!

  4. I have been following the gluten free diet for 3 days now and have no pain and no bloating. I also feel more energetic. Could it possibly be an allergy without being Celiac? Anyone else have a negative blood test but did have Celiac?

You are quite lucky to have you symptoms turn around in such a short time. It takes some many months to feel a differences and many several years to completely heal.

You could be gluten sensitive or have an allergy (to include topical issues). I glad that you continue to feel better.

  5. Starbursts aren't gluten-free. I wish, but they aren't. You need to look for anything with Modified food starch... that's flour. Good Luck!

kbtoyssni also commented on this statement.

"You need to look for anything with Modified food starch...that's flour." IS NOT CORRECT

Modified Food Starch in the US is corn derived unless otherwise stated...it is not FLOUR.

  6. I get my blood work done about once a year to make sure everything is within range. I am great now, but last year I was low in Folic Acid and B-12. During that time, I felt that my equilibrium was out of wack and low energy. I had B-12 shots once a week for a month, then every month for a bout six months.

    It made a great difference.

I think it very important to have routine blood work. It can reveal so much.

  7. McD's fries have been discussed here at great length. You can do a search here to get both points of view.

With that said, the Celiac Sprue Association had deemed McD's Fries to be safe for Celiacs to consume. They do have dedicated friers.

I eat them without issue. It's a personal choice.

  8. I am sorry that you are going through some tough times. I think everyone of us who have had children have experienced times like this. I have had many a tear in my eye when I left the room.

Teenagers are inherently self-centered and they are struggling with the loss of their comfortable childhood and finding their place in an adult world. They fit into neither. These are the "it's all about me" years. It is very natural for you daughter to gravitate to the one that meets her needs with the least amount of resistance, or buying affection. Or maybe she is just angry at the situation she finds herself in and doesn't know who or what to blame. So everything is fair game.

You stand tall, continue with your education and show by expample that you are owed the respect from your daughter as well as others. As time goes on, you will see that pride in her eyes.

    Things will get better.

  9. I raised two ( <-------- those two). Now 23 and 26 they realised that home and family have a new importance.

The advise that I would share is.....That when they do and say things to get a reaction or are being insightful, DON'T react. Have a blank expression on your face. It will drive them up a wall!!! B)

  10. Yes, I get the same.

Obviously, the site is getting some formatting updates. When you click on site index, it will redirect you by way of www.celiac.com. Click on that and it will bring you to the new format and on the left side of the new green page you will find the previous information on the old site index.

Or you can choose the "Site Map" on the home page.
