I'll spare you that task. The word is "genteel."
As a self-pronounced terrible speller... it is now corrected.

I have head that they are gluten free. With the holiday weekend, I am not sure that you can call the ww.number. They would be required to list wheat.
Have a good holiday weekend.

Sorry Betty, no help from me tonight. Can't see the list of ingred...

I had a bad reaction to Coca Cola a few months ago, was very sick for three days straight from drinking just a few swallows.
I had e-mailed the Coca Cola company before trying it, and they sent back a very thorough message saying that one of the ingredients they use has a little bit of wheat in it and that although it shouldn't bother most wheat-sensitive people, it indeed could bother those who are super-sensitive to wheat.
So I tried a few swallows, and paid for it sick as a dog for three days. No more Coke for me.
So maybe it could have been the Coca Cola?
Best wishes to all!
It would be great if you could post your e-mail from Coca Cola. It's aways good to post your source because there is alot of speculation out there, not based on fact.
We try to be as accurate at possible regarding ingredients.

WELL THEN............WE WILL HAVE THE PARTY RIGHT HERE. I'll bring the cake...oops forgot, I don't bake. We'll get Angie (Gulia) to bring the cake. Pedro just made some awsome spaghetti sauce for dinner. I will sing the happy birthday song and Patti will stand at the door and wrangle everyone back from the door after my singing.
Who else is comming to Ursa's birthday party? "There's a party goin on right here"....oooh I can hear the music..........

I know this is strange, but I don't like any "white" protein foods. For instance, no to milk, egg whites, yoghurt, ice cream, coconut, white fish, chicken, cheese, tartar sauce, etc. All of these foods make me throw up, or want to throw up. Is there a common element here, or is this all in my head? For instance, why the aversion to coconut and white fish?
I don't know if I can answer that question, but I can truly say that I never did like breads, pasta and beer, prior to celiac. I always requested my hot dog without a bun and hamburger likewise - before celiac. I thinks you have to listen to your body. It speaks and sometimes we just don't listen.

is brown rice glutin free?
from a chinese take out?
sandi
Brown rice is gluten free....from a take-out if the brown is from soy sauce, it is not. Sandi, go the the take-out place some time between lunch and dinner when they are not busy and talk to them about what would be safe for you to order. NO SOY SAUCE in a take-out, instead use LaChoy that you can buy at the store and it is gluten free.

At first, you are better off eating fresh foods you prepare yourself. But I hit spots where I was away from home and had to find something to eat. It's better to be prepared, take a lunch, stash some Lara bars. One trick I use now when traveling (by car) is to stop by a Kroger deli counter and order a 1/4 lb. of Boars Head and pick up some fresh fruit to go with it. All Boars Head meat is gluten-free, you just have to ask the deli person to clean the cutter before slicing yours. One thing I've always been pleasantly surprised on is how helpful and kind people are when you let them know what you need.
We all know Outback Steakhouse and PF Chang's are Celiac friendly and have gluten-free menus onlne. So does Chili's (Open Original Shared Link) and several others.
If you decide to try fast food, be aware that you're safer talking to a manager and going at off hours. Even then, it's not as safe as an expensive restaurant. But sometimes, you need to know where you can get safe food when you aren't at home. (sometimes, fast food is all that's available) I keep a small folder in my car of the current gluten-free menus from restaurants and fast food places.

Sonic and Taco Bell, I've heard iffy things about them so I'm not listing them. Someone else may have a different view. I go to Taco Cabana and rarely have problems, but that may be that the local place knows me so well. Most of the places I've emailed have been very helpful.
Find out if you have a local Celiac Support Group, they can really help you through this and they know all the good local spots.

Just want to throw a bit of caution regarding McD's fries - with a very, very extended debate, it was concluded that the fries should be attempted at your own risk.....now slowly backing out the door and ending this discussion regarding french fries.

I have been celiac for 4 years
I never stuck to the diet, I know I am and was wrong.
I have a very stressful life and food is my comfort
(I am trying very hard to change that thinking now)
Any way in the past I was able to cheat occ and stick to the diet and all
Now I am finding I cant cheat at all
When I cheat I am in total body pain, it hurts to sit, lay etc
amoung other things.
But i am still having problems
I am afraid to eat, so mostly i eat plain lettuce and eggs
and a occ. Ice coffee
Before I was getting the tingling on my feet area and all
now thats almost gone, but I feel my skin on arms are slightly burning, i am not in pain, but I know its there
I am cutting out milk as much as I can
do I have to cut eggs too??
I am allergic to many fruits and some nuts
and now the glutin and maybe eggs
I guess being depressed doesnt help
I just want to feel better
thank you
sandi
Sandi:
I am sorry that you are feeling so bad. I would recommend that you go back to the basic diet of meats, seafood, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and the fruit that you can tolerate. You NEED to have a balanced diet and lettuce and eggs won't do it. Depression can also be a gluten related issue.
The reason that many of us are so diligent with the diet is specifically because of the long term damage of gluten poisoning. There are so many here that have been inflicted with very serious irreversible conditions due to Celiac. Please take this seriously and we will help you thought it.
Stick around here for a while and read the post. I am sure that it will help you a great deal. This is a great place to fall and as well a great place for a new beginning. It's all in your hands.
You have an open door here anytime.

Hello to everyone. My husband and daughter have been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease. I can't tell you how this news has hit me. I feel so bad for both of them I don't know what to do or say. I can't go on.
Welcome to our world. Your pedro has been a wonderful member here and with hopes you wil join us as well.
A good person to talk to is Nikki, she is not celia, but her family is. She lives in the UK but she is a great person to talk to. We'll hook you up.

I may have read this and the 2006 version of the same thing wrong but if I am understanding it wheat is of course an allergen and must be listed. The same is not being said for gluten. What they are trying to do, and actually have done now is to define what is gluten free for the purpose of labeling. Not to make companies declare gluten ingredients but to enable them to label gluten free items as such.
I think you are correct in that.
But baby steps are steps forward. With all the gluten issue in the news, whether it be diet related, medically related or pet related, times are changing.
That's why it's so important to call companies and inquire about the gluten free status of their products. Keep calling peeps.

Not being much of a baker, but could you turn it a few time in the over to get a more equal heat?

Just got home, but at a quick glance, it looks like they are going to require gluten free lableling, or list gluten ingrediences. If so, oh happy day.

Folks,
I am the one she is quoting. Iam in the process of contacting the FDA for clarification on this issue.
If possible, please provuide a source that proves my statement is wrong/false.
I will continue to research the matter.
BB
I'd be interested in what you find out Chris.

Hope you have a wonderful day with your family.

I recently read a quote from another member:
"Most modified food starch is corn based and ok. If the food starch has wheat in it, it will say so on the label per 2006 food allergen laws"
WRONG!!!!!!!!!
Modified food starch is still a major issue for people who are gluten enteropaths.
This is an ill defined dietary supplement that does NOT require specific definition as to the source. Federal guidlines have NOT been enforced, nor, as written are they enforcable.
The laws set out in 2006 are "suggestions" only, not requirements. Fortunately with our litigenous society, many companies are complying. The specific requirements are NOT enforcable on a Federal level.
Unless otherwise specified (as they are "encouraged" to be) anyone with gluten enteropathy should avoid all ill defined "modified food starches" and should contact the manufacturer to explain, and should demand that that manufacturer specify in writing what EXACTLY the food starch is.
The following are currently FDA acceptable food starch additives: casein, wheat, barley, corn, soybean, millet. Notice 50% of these are not on a gluten free diet. And, most importantly, some of the gluten containing items allow the company to state "Wheat free" without being truely GLUTEN free.
RKB MD can you quote your source please.

Mine is based on the same idea as Tiffany's; I just have a much shorter name than she does. It's my first initial followed by my surname. Obviously, I'm not terribly worried about somebody guessing my complete name. I used it as an ID on computers long before the internet. If you google it, you will get buried by hits about a retired history professor in England. No relation.
Oh my gosh Peter, if you Google my old name, or my real name you will come up with a porn star and quite the busy girl she was in the 70's and 80's......This would not be me.

BIG HUGS TO THE BOTH OF YOU!!! and all the energy I can muster for good vibs and successful outcome.

Thanks
