  1. I am not sure if you have been reading here, but I wanted to add some suggestions.

Make sure you have a new chopping board, new wooden spoons, toaster and throw away you scratched teflon pans. These are places where gluten can hide.

You also must check your make-up, lotions, shampoos, lip sticks, in other words, anythings that can find it's was into your mouth.

And find youself some gluten free bread mixes, it will soften you gluten free impact.(but not baked in the old gluten pans)

    Hope this helps.

  2. Emily E:

It takes some time to heal, and you are extremely new to the diet. You need to be patient. In some adults it can take up to two years to completely heal.

It would be wise to eliminate diary for a while and then reintroduce it after some healing time. Just stick to the gluten and the dairy for now and if after several months, you don't see improvement then you can do an elimination diet one thing at a time so you can identify what you may be reacting to.

It may take several months before you see significant improvement. Be diligent and you will get better soon.

    Good luck

PS: reading as much as you can from this site will help you more than anything.

  3. Thank You.....I know i post a lot of questions, i hope I dont bother you. Thanks for all of your help.

This is not bother, but this site is FULL of information at only the tap of you fingers. The site index on this page has countless information.

We have all been where you are, and as I have said, the key is learning to read ingredients on products. They do change and what what was known to be gluten free a year ago, may not be currently.

You have to rely on 1-800 numbers and be current with those. I have recommend certain products but slacking off that. I don't remember safe products...I read labels now and if doubt, I call. There are some safe companies that I will recommend.

Everyone needs to be their own safe keeper of heath. Only your can protect you good health.

  4. LAst night i drank 3 glasses of red wine at a wedding and today i feel like crap. Is red wine a no no for celiacs. Please dont take my wine away!!!!!!! The last wedding i was at i drank about 10-12 glasses, so i understood why i felt awful the next day, but this time i actually disciplined myself and still feel awful (tired, dizzy, nausea, bloated.)

Please go to the site index on the left side of this site and read, read, read. That site holds the answer to ALL of your questions.

  5. Does anyone know what hanburger patties are gluten free at the grocery store. Do you know if moran's beef patties are gluten free?

In the US, they are required by law to list wheat if it is an additive. Reading the labels is the only way to go.

You can use this site for a reference, but the only true way to insure your safety regarding gluten free products is to learn to read labels.

  6. I have read a lot, I have heard a lot, but I seem not to know the answer.

Lactose, you can have gluten symptoms. With casein, the protein found in dairy products, can you have the same reaction as you do with gluten, which effect the small intestines with distruction of the villi?

Two year out, I am now reacting strongly to dairy, cheese and concerned about intestinal damage, hence my question.

    Just symptoms or damage?

  7. The lemonade may be an issue. Some of the Tropicana juices are not gluten free. I would stick to the unflavored vodkas and coke or seven-up products. The more elements in a product, the more the risk since you cannot read the ingrediences at a pub or restaurant. Keep it simple.

I am not an expert, but I think that glasses in a restaurant are required to get a double washing (lipstick stains and all). I guess you could get glutened by from an unclean glass with cheeseburger lipstick still on the glass, gross and all....but, I rather suspect the lemonade

  8. Candi.....I'd called Hidden Valley last fall and they told me that the regular ranch and buttermilk were definitely gluten free. I was still healing so I will have to try it again to confirm. I've actually been using Marie's (the really thick dressings) and diluting it with an oil and vinegar dressing. Marie's told me that ALL of their dressings are gluten free last fall and I have found that to be true. They said even their bleu cheese (surprise?) but I can't confirm that as I don't like bleu cheese anyhow. I called Heinz and all of their ketchups are gluten free EXCEPT for the organic one. Hellman's mayo is most definitely gluten-free, by my confirmation but also the company. It's made by Unilever and they seem to be one of those up front companies that will list stuff. If you call the 800# on products, they will sometimes send you lists and coupons. Hope this helps......Angel

We had to give a reception this weekend and needed blue cheese dressing. I looked at the lable of Marie's Blue Cheese and I put it back (can't remember, but it was wheat related). Check you labels carefully.

  9. I'm a upcoming junior in highschool. I work part time at Maggie Moos. I'm also the Color Guard commander for my JROTC unit.

After highschool, my careers plans are to attend the Air Force Acedemy in Colorado Springs then join the Air Force as a pilot. Plus I know I want children later on in life when I get married.

Everyone here has such amazing jobs!

    -Ash

Good for you Ash, you can be one of those Jet-Jockish Girls! :P Kick those Jet-Jocks butt!! (I am married to one, and I do a good job) :P

Don't let any thing hold you back.

  10. My sister has been gluten free for three years now. It used to be that I felt bad for her while I would have cramps much more often than any guy my age (I'm turning 20). Turns out, I too am a celiac and this is my first messageboard. I go to Quinnipiac University and live in southeast Florida, if anybody wants to talk you can email me, I'm just glad to find a community.

    Welcome Vince:

This is #2 post and I will have to catch your # 1. Just got back home. This site is a really good place to fall and a good place to recover. We have alot of really cool, knowledgeable folks here who kindly give their time to "newbies".

Why don't you start a new thread and tell us about yourself and any question that you may have.

  11. As I understand it, the glue used to hold the paper to the cardboard tube is the only gluten issue.

Long past there was a 17 page thread debating the fact that toilet paper had gluten. After contacting many companies and their response it was concluded that the "glue" that is used is modified corn starch and not gluten related.

The inside of the plastic bag containing the TP may be dusted with corn starch, also not gluten related.
