  1. Taco Bell:

Express Taco Salad - chicken only no beef

Fiesta Taco Salad - chicken only, no beef, no shell, no red strips

Southwest Steak Bowl - no creamy jalapeno sauce

    Tostado

Zesty Chicken Border Bowl - no zesty dressing, no red strips

What in the world would you be paying for. Let alone the cross contamination. Not my idea of a tasty lunch.

I agree, what do you do with a tostado, when their shell are not gluten free. Go figure.

  2. Ds is going on 2 fieldtrips this month to a theater in town that provides a complimentary box of popcorn and drink to the kids. It isn't a huge movie theater company. It is a town theater. I called the theater and the person I spoke with said that it comes to them already packaged in butter (which he cannot have). Soooo, I can send him with a bag of popcorn that I made at home and put non-dairy butter on (they said this would be o.k.), but I was wondering if I should go to the trouble to ask them if I could pre-purchase a container and put our popcorn in it so that he feels like he fits in more. Is this asking too much? Or should I just be glad that they will let him bring his own?

    Sarah:

I still think that there is kindness in people. Offer to purchase the cantainer explain your situation and call them jerks if they don't GIVE you one.

What a good mom you are! :)

  3. After about a year and I was feeling so much better, many people told me how good I looked. Guess they didn't have the nerve to tell me I look like crap when I was sick. :(

Some people here take Probiotics/Digestive Enzymes. I could not tolerate them because of the lactose. There are some dairy free, but I have not looked into that. I do take a multi-vitamine and sublingual B-12 and that seems to work for me and the energy is almost 100%. Bear in mind, I have been at this for almost 2 years. It will take so time to heal, you've been sick for a long time.

A well-balanced diet cause be your best avenue. Leafy greens, almonds, Yoplait Yogurt, V-8 Juice are some healthy choices.

  4. Paisley:

Glad to have you out of the closet. It always may me feel good when people learn things from these educated and sharing folk we have on this site.

I am so glad that you are feeling better. Many of us had year and years of misery with no answer.

OK, when you heal after a while and get the proper nutrients into you body, I can assure you that the bags and dark circle will go away. Another benefit of being gluten free!

    Again, welcome

  5. So I need a place to vent... my 2 year old has learned how to vault out of her crib and refuses to stay in bed for a nap!

Any tips on keeping her in bed???

 Boy that put a smile on MY face...sorry. I had one who would crawl into the crib and the other, an army of twelve could not keep her in the crib. I feel your pain.

Maybe, bribing may help. Take a nap and go to sleep and when you wake up we can ....go to the park and play.

    Good luck

  6. Jenny:

Sounds like you did your homework. Good for you. As his blood work is positive, that is confirmation enough for celiac.

Keep him gluten free and watch him grow. I see no need to stick a tube down his troat to convince the doctor. Sounds like you are on the right track.

  7. I find it interesting that "wheat gluten" is in the news because it is a pet issue. Much like the constant news regarding animal abuse. A loss of a special pet is a very bad thing and those that have a loss should be angry. Buying food that you thought was safe...yeh

I am a mother whose child was abused (details withholding) at a day care. I had my 15 minutes of notoriety as a parent and advocate.

I have pets and I love them dearly. But I am always surprise when animal issues foreshadow children's issues in the media.

Just thinking out loud..... so do I post this, or not?

  8. Ok, I just wanted to update.

I have found that gluten did a re-visit of peri or menopausal symptoms. Since gluten free, those night sweats are gone. They will come back if I am glutened.

After being gluten free for almost two years, I found that I will have facial perspiration almost immediately after consuming dairy products. Which indicates to me that there is perhaps an allergy reaction to dairy. I am currently, dairy light.

  10. When I had my endo and biopsy, almost two years ago, I felt no pain from the biopsy whatsoever. I did have a raw throat for a day or two. I felt no internal discomfort at all. Don't worry about that at all. Many others don't even have a soar throat. The internal nerves are not the same, as in hemoroids, you can't feel them and only know when some blood is pass in the rectum.

The endo proceedure is nothing to worry about. I got a shot, went to sleep, woke up and they were feeding me juice and CRACKERS, after he just viewed the villi blunting.

And, as you know, the worst part of the colonoscopy is the prep, that was yucky.

If you doctor is correct with the potenial food poisoning, every thing else should be fine. :)

  11. I wonder if he told this doctor that he has a twin with gluten intolerance? Jerry, I swear, ya gotta get him on this site.

That would be the fix, well, it may take some time as apparently you share the same scepticism.

    Let us at'um :)
