Mylanta is alway a quick relief. Hope you feel better soon.

I too have recently has BAD acid reflux and by the afternoon, thowing up bubbles and acid. Gross, I know. I am on Aciphex, but backing away from Lexipro....Not too much help.
I have a large hiatal hernia and am going to the dr. this week to inquire about surgery to fix it. I don't know anything about hernia surgery...hopeing tht it will be helpful with the acid buildup and the massive bloating in the evening.
Never thought that Celiac would be a side issue.

Carla:
There is alot of information that you should know about Celiac and I hope that you have been reading these posts. The amount of information you can get here is emence.
It does sound like you do have Celiac as well as you child. If you would like a proper dx. then you should be tested. With limited insurance, you can also self-dx, by going gluten free. Going gluten free is a very extensive process, not expensive, but very detailed.
Nini, here on the site have a "Newbe Kit" that can get you started. It will include basic foods, meds that are gluten free, and shampoos, soaps and lotions. Her computer was down for a while and not sure whether is is up yet, but someone can get you to the site.
It is really overwhelming in the beginning, but after a few months, you can have a pretty good handle on things.
We have all been in the same place as you and always feel free to ask away. That is why we are here, to help and we do have fun here as well.
Hope this helps. Lisa

What you are experiencing is very normal. You most likely have been deficient in many vit's that you body needs to function normally.
After I was dx'd, my NEW doctor gave me B-12 shots ever week for four weeks. I made a very grand difference in how I felt. Perhaps you could look into that.
Depression, yes, that is a component of celiac disease. Even thought you are on the road to recovery, it does not mean that your body is healed. I say body, and I am also refering to your brain (it is also an organ, which needs the proper food to function properly.) Everything is out of wack right now.
Be patient, try B-12 shots and if you feel you need, Lexipro works very well for me. An anti-depressant is not out of order. In any lifestyle change, there is stress and anxiety.
It will take some time to really feel like your old self again. I will be gluten free (as always, as best as I am able) since last August when dx'd. The diet gets easier, eating out never does. That's the pitts of this diet. My husband says that I am now a cheap dinner date. (Lettuce, and I bring the dressing and it takes the fun out of eating out for me). I do miss French dinners, with lots of creams and sauces.
Lucky for me, I can duplicate those dinners with a few substitutions and we do eat very well and tasty.
Hang in there, it's just a matter of time and information.

Lisa -- I have a VERY funny story about that . . . will have to e-mail it to you!!!!!
It's not horrible, by any stretch, and certainly wouldn't offend anyone . . . if it's okay with you guys, it's okay with me . . . it's just about me sticking my foot in my mouth (as if I have never!) years ago . . . .
Gotta hear it Lynne...go for it.

Ya gotta take care of yourself so that you can care for Kurt. He is so young for these issues. I hope that he is doing well Don't forget to take care of yourself as well.
Thinking about you, Lisa

This post is very interesting. I am 51 and have been POST- metapause for atleast 10 years, peri-m started at 35.
I too have had mega breast tenderness many times since gluten free almost a year. I am on no hormones or anything female related. After loosing 20 pounds over the years, celiac related, my 36D, never budged. Kinda wish it did.
I thought is was very strange as well. DH had the big "V" many years ago and I don't like the mailman. It gave me the "what's going on here" feeling.

Holy Cow, 101 pages, what did I miss......I'll check in from now on.

lisa, are you on any acid blockers like Nexium or Prevacid? I couldn't take Lexapro, made me feel like a zombie.
Acidphex 20 mg, but mighty pricey $50.00 amont per month with a co-pay 50%. It works, but tired of paying the bills. Wondering if hermia surgury could cure, but don't know.

I go the the frozen section of the grocery store and see the California, thin pizza and say...ohh. But then I would take one bite and say that I have done that. Never did like pizza before. It's all a mind game. You can't have it, so tell youself that you don't need it. That's how I try to deal without getting angry.
Reprogram yourself and perhaps is will be easier for you.

With the issues with mail in order scribs for co-pay, which is such a pain in the butt, I had tried to sign off slowly on my Lexipro.
Just as soon as I started cutting back, the stomach acid started, and the throwing up, with acid I tempered offf slowly as I needed to do.
I did not have this problem when I was on Lexipro. It makes me want to go back on it.
I have a large hiatal hernia which is the culprit in this issue.
So has any one been there, should I look into surgery, or should I continue with the lexipro........
I got to feel better. I look like a watermellon on toothpicks, and very uncomfortable.
Please help me feel better and choose wisely. Lisa

Although non related to Celiac, but for me this is an additional complication.
I have a large hiatal hernia, which is causing a great deal of discomfort from gerd, bloating and acid pain.
I have a very large perscription bills for antacids. The hernia is pushing my stomach under my rib cage and does not feel great.
My questions is that at what point to you elect surgery and what would that intale?
Any help would be appreciated for those with this experience.

Chris:
I can help you with a few of your questions. Indeed, in the beginning iit is extremely confusing and frustrating.
Don't worry about the spell check, we don't have it and we don't care about spelling either.
With regards to the Delfi Gluten Free Product List, I have it on my computer, but not savey enough to paste it to you. I am sure that someone will send it to you soon. Or, perhaps you can search for "Delfi Forum" and see if you can download it on your own.
I do not have a casin problems so don't know much about soy and don't eat cereals. Cream of Rice is always good and inexpensive.
Liquors that you can drink are wine (they do contain sulfates that bother some), I drink Seagrams 7, with seven-up. Makers Mark, Scotch, Gin and I think most unflavored Vodkas. I know that there are other, but that's off the top of my head. All coke, pepsi and 7-up, sprite, sierra mist are all gluten free, as are tonics and club sodas.
You can do a search here at the forum and get the answers to most of your quetions as our community is constantly changing with the newbies posting and the "old-hatters" having been there.
I hope that this was helpful to you and please ask away....that's why we are here.

Andrew, you really sound like you know what you're talking about regarding the medical field.....Very informative, and thank you.

The answer to you question is quite simple.....If you choose for your entire family to be totaly gluten free, they won't even know it....less the pizza's and fast foods.
The first challenge is, do you want a diognisis, or will you be content with the gluten-free diet and seeing the results.
If you choose the diog, then you need to maintain the gluten diet, otherwise your test will not be accurate. This is essential if you want a diox.
Second, if you want to feel better and try the gluten-free diet, please understand that it more complex than loosing the bread and pasta. For instance, you need to check you toothpaste, shampoo, bath soap, meds, no cosmetics for you (female,yes).....i.e, anything that you ingest.
Many of us have different sensitivites to gluten, some are severe and some not so. I believe, it depends on how soon it was diog. and the amount of damage to your intestines.
If you feel that you have Celiac Disease, it is very important that you take it seriously as it can lead to some life threatening illnesss. Celiac in itself is not life threatening, but the by procucts of it not being addressed, can cause terrible problems in the future.
I you would like to add most impute into your post, as to you symptoms and why you think that you have celiac, supply you with more information.
For instance, Nini, who posts here has a "newbi-kit" with losts of websites and diet information that would be helpful to you.
You have come to a good place, where people who share the same affiction, just share and share. This site has truely been a wonderous thing for me as the doctors that I saw had nothing to add and I was basically on my own after being diog with a biopsy.
These folks here helped me learn everything to know about being Celiac......atfter almost a year, I am still learning.
Don't freak out about your family:
Oscar Myer Bacon
""Hot Dogs
Heinz Katchup
La Choy Soy Sauce
Hellamns Mayo
Kraft Food will always list
Paul Newman Dressing will always list
B&m baked beans
McCormacks spices will always list.
Maybe this can get you started, and I am sure that nini will post with your starter kit.
Hope this was helpful, and PLEASE ask away.

Living in North Carolina we have peanuts everywhere.
Contact Jimbo Jumbo's, in Edenton, North Carolina as they have a very extensive mail order business.
If you have some of their peanuts, you will NEVER eat Planters again!!!!!
LEt me know if you want to order some.

Lister:
Can your imagine what the results of feeling crappy will be....
1. How do you work when you're stoned at 2:30 in the afternoon... 4 bowls (of what) even between 4 is enough for you to not give a crap about what your doing at work.
2. You smoke cigs, I do, but I eat.
3. There is every reason why you feel like crap:
What you wrote today:
No diary
No protien
No fruit
Too many carbs
Too many cigs
Too much weed (I assume i'ts weed - bowl, who knows).
A corrective diet, won't do it for a few days, this is a life style change. If you want to feel better, take charge of your life. But you can't do it if you stoned all the freggin time.
You have some serious issues and if you want to stand up and address then, we will help you in any way that we can. But, if you want to live in your lah-lah-land and stoned most of the time that you post....I can't help you.
If you want to feel better, then be responsible. Loose the weed and get controll of your health. Your choice.
Life is a choice in every thing we do. You can "choose wisely, or choose poorly".
Don't bother posting when you're high, post when you're clean and clear.
I truely care, Lisa

Marcus:
I am 51 and I understand your frustration.
Let me suggest something. Go on this site and pull up a thread called "Your know Your Celiac, if.."
I think you may enjoy it. It is the best laught at ourself.
Try it, you'll love it.

I use Lubriderm without a problem, but not with oats.

Lister:
I think that in order to help you with your issues, you need to decribe your daily routine. Everything that you put in your mouth and anything that is ingested into your body. (That includes, smoking/cigs/pot, pills, vitaimines, meds, food, drink.....) There is something that is messing with you or your messing with them.
Write down EVERYTHING that goes into your system for two weeks.....and report back perhaps the answer may be there. You must be truely honest though. No cheating on the log list.
There are alot of pros here that can help, but only if you are willing to get help.
Try this avenue, perhaps it can help you figure all of the out.

Something Is Not Right
in Coping with Celiac Disease

If you has already said this... did you check your antibiotics for gluten free.
And also, you have been high stressed which could amplify your normal system. Stress can do strange things and to re-activate Celiac would not surprise me.
Just a thought, and I hope that you start feeling better soon.
