  1. Flailing fits seem to be a daily episode for me. I would like to see one with an out of body experience with some one with Celiac. One with vision of a double cheeseburger (nah, freg that one). I think eating at a five star french restaurant and not worrying about a darn thing. I would be gazzing into my husbands eyes, knowing that we had a room at the Four Seasons (and going back twenty years when I actually had hormones and anti-D weren't circulating). This was just a trip back in time when we used to laugh with each other.

I digress, sorry, can't remember the thread. Personal issues here, I think. Anyone else like, PM. I need some pep talk. :(

This is a thread of it's own. I know, lets start a "Womens Only Thread"....ooops, sorry, I guess that's a really bad suggestion. Been there done that and gone. :)

  2. I don't know if the talked about episode has aired yet. If so I have missed it.

Watching ET-Tonight, they mentioned the episode of "House" with a mother with a mysterious disease.

Could this be the one. I don't watch it very much. Anyone know any thing about this?

  3. The page with the wheat is clearly dated at the bottom as 2/3/06. It is brand new.

But I totally agee with the poster who said (can't remember who right now) its just potatoes why did they go screw them up??

    Sigh. Susan

    Me, Lisa B.

My thoughts are that they are comming out with a seasoned french fry that will contaminate the fryer. No more disignated special fryer at McD's.

  4. It is always a little unsettleing when you look inside your body. But just consider that you are getting a head start on what's going on. Just remember that early, is good. Take a deep breath and get a good night sleep. My feelings say that every thing will be ok. (sound wierd from a stanger, but trust me). :)

  5. Elizabeth:

I wanted to add first that if you intend to be tested for Celiac Disease, do not go gluten free. Your tests will not be accurate. You may or may not have celiac disease. There are over 200 symptoms of Celiac and I would encourage you to read as many posts here on this site to see if you have the symptoms. There is a search site here and you can look up almost everything you want to know.

PLease research this yourself on this site as many doctors are not as knowlegeable as most people here on this site. It is a new to alot of Primary Doctors.

It you do have Celiac Disease, it is truely not something to mess with. A strict gluten free diet it the only cure. Otherwise, it can lead to a variety of very serious incureable diseases.

If you have a problem with bloating I would recommend Zantac, it is gluten free and it daily helps me as I also have a hiatal hernia which creates bloating and gas., in addition to Celiac.

Hope this will be helpful to you. Lisa B.

  6. It is just so frustrating. I have talked about this too much, but my daughter is getting married and we have many friends give Annie and her fiance parties. I have been dealing with this for only 6 months and many do not know, but they also have to feed the masses. I am sure that my issues are not on high order. I have talked to the caterer and will make sure that I can eat something at the reception. Sorry about the wedding cake. Eating cake would only be symbolic for me as I don't feel that is important to me.

I guess that is not so much a worry for me, because when I go to parties I talk more than I eat anyways, to my periodic regret  .

I think that the key here is to just eat what you are possitive is safe and forgo the others. This can be really pissy sometimes. Any other suggestions?

  7. I have reached the 6 month part of being gluten-free. I do wonderfully well at home and my family does not mind eating gluten free. They don't even know unless they see me eating dinner.

Even with close neighbors, I find it very difficult to ask soooooo many questions about how they prepared the food. I now know what is safe and what is not (pretty much). I have offered to bring a dish that I can share. I ask about the gravey, they said corn starch, ok. Didn't ask about the seasonings on the beef. As I watched the gravey spoon go into the mixed veggies, I though, hummm. I get some eyes rolling as well.

Close friends, I will tell, that when I get glutened, I have 10 seconds to get to the bathroom.. and sometimes it takes 15 seconds to get there. That usually result in a lack of response.

People are really trying to be helpful. I appreciate the effort on my behalf, but how in the world do you overcome good hearted people trying to be helpful when they really don't have a clue.

THE QUESTION IS; HOW DO YOU HANDLE BEING A GUEST FOR DINNER?????:blink:

  8. I am planning this for Super Bowl with lots of friends:

    Bushes Baked Beans

    Green Peppers Chopped

    Sween Onions Chopped

    Kraft Dijon Mustard

    Lee and Perrions Worst.

    Brown Surgar

    Little Tabasco

    Heinz Katchup

Oscar Meyer Bacon on the top

    and bake.

Sorry for the misspelling. Tired and Brain Fog. It's really good.

Sorry again, got glutened by eating out at a neighbors who tried to be gluten free....but failed in his considering effort. :(

  9. Cherrios and Milk.......Wheat or lactose problem. My balance was really off before I was dig. I ha ve never been dizzy, but sort of felt that way. Does that make sense

If you want to try the diet good for you, but if you want to be tested do not go gluten-free.

Sorry this is so short, but have to stir the grits. I will get back to you later.

  10. I agree with Karen. I DO remember when insurance companies did not pay for routine mamagrams. That denial could have save the companies billions of money in post dig. for breast cancer and where that may lead to.

Slamming the Health Insurance Association with information from us would/could lead to alot of change. They are the ones that lobby Congress and that is where things will change. (Karen, don't know how Canada deals with this) We all need to be lobbiest. I am sure that the Celiac Sprue Accociation is doing a good job. We can contact them and see where we can help with this issue. We DO have our own lobby group. I have joined the CSA and would suggest that others do and see where we can help. Contacting our local Congressional Legislature would also be helpful. I do think you need to go to the top. Hey, we as citizens have given rights to be represented and our concern heard.

  11. Lisa, I don't know if I can help, but I felt that way when I ate some seafood out of season. Had the fever, aches and pains and bit the heads off anyone who entered the room. I do think that being gluten-free offers other "koodies" into out system. Maybe we are more sensitive to other invaders.

I hope that you are feeling better by now. Drink lots of water and try to flush the "kooties" out of your system. I know that you have lots to do and if you can't, remember that Celiac is a disabilty and you have several rights afforded to you at school. Look into Disability Services and with proper documentations, you can test when you are able, and take as much time as you need. Don't disregard that avenue that the school can provide for you. Take every advantage.

Hope that you will feel better soon.Lisa
