  1. Be easy on yourself and your mother. Unless you live in a bubble, you can't guarantee that you will always be safe.

We don't live in a perfect world and we can only do the best that we can. Blame should be used sparingly, because the cause and reason usually comes back to us. ;) Few live in our world.

Educate yourself and hope for the best. :) There is a good quality of life out there. Ya gotta reach for it.

  2. My mom keeps coming up with bizarre possible gluten sources; tap water is the latest. I think she just feels guilty about likely cross-contaminating the gluten-free banana bread she made for me this weekend, but you have to wonder.

I'm at school in Mankato and the Minnesota River is at flood stage. I'm not 100% sure where the city water comes from, but at least some of it has to come from the river which is surrounded by farm fields and looks pretty nasty from the run-off after a heavy rainfall.

So many people are worried about chemicals and hormones in our water supply because of medication disposal, why not gluten?

Because the mixture of proteins, including gliadins and glutelins, found in wheat grains, are not soluble in water.

I would revisit other things. :)

  3. Anxiety is very natural, especially in public places. Be diligent with your diet and you symptoms should subside. But, it's common that neurological symptoms recover lastly.

Take a vitamin supplement. I take Healthy Accents Prenatal Vitamins (my baby years are long done, but I like what they offer).

And don't forget that a "normal" life can be had. And it might be just around the corner. Be careful what you eat, trust in yourself, live by your "gut" (literally).

Be patient with yourself and pamper yourself once in a while. There is a very healthy, productive, fun life out there - even with Celiac Disease.

  4. Here is additional information:

The Canadian Celiac Association (CCA) has investigated a variety of blue cheese on the market and found that very few are made using bread mold, and when they are, the test results completed by Health Canada found no detectable levels of gluten in the final product. The new CCA Acceptability of Food and Food Ingredients for the Gluten-Free Diet pocket dictionary lists blue cheese as allowed on a gluten-free diet.

I suppose that Triumph felt that a blanket gluten free statement could not/should not be made, at this time. Many, many blues are gluten free.

  5. Hi, this is my first post, but in my research into celiac disease I have searched this forum on many topics... and my symptoms tick all the boxes from chronic fatigue through to drenching night sweats, eye tics, bloating, diarrhea, teeth grinding, irregular menstrual cycles ... the lot... However, I just received my endoscopy results and they are clear. Not sure what to do now. Has anyone out there just taken things into their own hands and gone gluten free and felt better, despite the negative medical diagnosis? Ta

Yes, about 75% (or much more) of the people on this forum. Give it a go. But it means 100% gluten free. There are lots of members who will guide you through it.

    Welcome! :D

  6. OK, now I'm asking dating advice from people who have been married since time began, but you are the most knowledgeable group of people I know so....

When we said goodbye last night he said something about getting together again soon. I emailed him today just saying thank you and how much fun it was and how I hoped we could swap travel stories again soon. He replied with 'yes, let's do this again soon'.

Now, does this mean I'm supposed to propose a time and place? Or do I wait and let him pursue? I never did understand these rules.

If you don't hear from the guy, time to move on....she says out of the blue. B)

....poop in to say "hi". Hi!

  7. I would like to unsubscribe from this group, because it turns out that I am not gluten intolerant.

However, I can't figure out how to unsubscribe.

Evidently there are 2 ways, but I can't seem to find either one.

l/You can unsubscribe at any time by logging into your control panel and clicking on the "Manage Watched Forums" link in the "Forums" tab.

But where is the Manage Watched Forums link???

2/Send an email to the administrator.

But, I can't find any place on this site with a link to the administrator.

    I would appreciate any help!

    thanks!

Contact the admin and he will delete your account. You are always welcome back. :D

  8. Does anyone know if Minute Maid's 100% fruit juice blends are gluten free? I would hope that it would be, but they have some rather non-specific ingredients on the label...
