  1. I understand your concerns about cross contamination. It is a concern for all of us. I would not/do not put my health or my families in the hands of stangers when I have not confirmed that information elsewhere.
  2. Hello and Welcome, If you want to be tested for Celiac Disease, have your doctor order these blood tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. The tendency for Celiac is inherited. Do either of your parents have digestive...
  3. Welcome LInda, Celiac can be diagnosed by a Serologic Panel, Endoscopy/biopsy and Positive Dietary Response. And for some with a rash confirming Dermatitus Herpetiformis, a skin condition. Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level...
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. I am asking you nicely to post support information regarding your claims. Support your "truth" with facts.
  6. Again...What is your agenda here? What background do you have to make such claims? Aside from your experiments with the gluten test strips (which as been posted to be unreliable) what research have you done? Where are you support links to substantiate your claims regarding the gluten status of a product?
  7. MikeM, I think that you are doing this gluten free community a very grave disservice by generating fear among the newly diagnosed. The gluten free diet is complex enough without you further complicating it with doubt, innuendo and unsubstantiated claims. Publishing a listing or product(s), that have been tested in a professional, controlled environment...
  8. https://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Glute...ages/Page1.html Wine is derived from grape and considered safe for Celiacs to consume.
  9. Alcohol might take care of some germs, but won't do much for gluten.
  10. That's why it's important to be our own advocate. Whether you read about the gluten status of a product here, another site, in a book, or through personal recommendation, the bottom line is, what you put into your mouth of feed to your children, is your responsibility alone. Learning to read labels had not generated any issues for me.
  11. Just a little thought here....lists are only good until the manufacturer changes the ingredients without notice. Mike has mentioned this as well.

    ARCHIVED Gluten Jerks

Hey Kim! You are BRAVE indeed!!!!!! MAYBE your other "friends" will grow up some day and remember what flaming jerks they were. And if not, you already know that.
  13. Enterolabs cannot diagnose Celiac Disease. A Serologic Panel can test Celiac. Gluten intolerance is that, an intolerance. Celiac is an autoimmune response to gluten. Some people here think that a gluten sensitivity is the precursor to Celiac. I have seen no research to validate that concept. Research is young in this field. If you do have Celiac and...
  14. Sounds like you handled the situation very well.
  15. Welcome! It means that they cannot verify that a product is gluten free unless they test it. If no gluten ingredients are in a product (meds specifically), I generally assume that it's a CYA statement. Meds are not producted on shared equiptment. Here is a listing of gluten free meds. It's always good to call the company to have a second confirmation...
  16. Hi bnj! Welcome to this site. Everyone here has been in your shoes and we can help you make the gluten free transition. I recently had a chance to review the Triumph Dining - "The Essential Gluten Free Grocery Guide". I was quite impressed and sure wished that it was available when I were newly diagnosed. The Guide lists over 30,000 main stream grocery...
  17. If dairy is your concern, I believe Earth Balance is dairy free.

ARCHIVED More About Dr. Kenneth Fine

I think people can reading into anything that which they want to here. If you feel your are a second class citizen here because you have a gluten intolerance, I'm sorry for that. Input here is a given freely to everyone equally. Because I was diagnosed with Celiac through a biopsy and then found this site to figure out what it was, doesn't really give...

  22. I have been an advocate for the prevention and victims of child sexual abuse for many years. I know a little bit about the subject. A twelve year old little boy looking at some porn on a computer does not make him a victim of sexual abuse nor a perpetrator. It is very typical of the age and exploring is natural. Questioning a child that is not your...
  23. The worst part of it is the worry. You'll be just fine.
  24. Dealing with other parents can be tricky. Yup. You could go over to the child's house and ask the him to tell his parents what he was doing on your computer. Maybe if the parents hear it from their son, they would be more likely to believe it. Secondly, this would be my preference, you could re-define your house rules to ensure that the computer is...
  25. Just because a manufacturer does not test for gluten, does not mean that it's not gluten free. I don't know if this is the case with this company, but many companies cannot - correction, WILL NOT declare a product gluten free, even though there are no gluten ingredients. Companies are concerned about law suit and will put out a CYA statement. And...
