ARCHIVED Next Step After Saliva Gliaden Iga Test?
Lisa replied to Amyand2girls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Amy and welcome to this site! You can ask your doctor to order the Serelogic Panel: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. You must remain on gluten for the test. You certainly have many of the symtoms of Celiac. Hope... -
ARCHIVED Does The Biopsy Hurt?
Lisa replied to 1morething's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was sedated and I don't remember anything of the procedure. I had a soar throat for a day or so, but that's about it. Even without sedation, you would not feel much of anything with the biopsy because there are little nerve endings in your small intestines. I would make sure that you bring someone with you. My GI spoke to me after the procedure... -
ARCHIVED Next Step After Saliva Gliaden Iga Test?
Lisa replied to Amyand2girls's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I may be incorrect, but according to what I understand, if you posses the appropriate genes, it does not give you a diagnosis. It can indicate that you may be predisposed to Celiac Disease, but it does not diagnose you with Celiac Disease. If you carry the Celiac gene, does not mean that you will develop Celiac. Perhaps, that is what you mean. -
ARCHIVED Positive Ttg & Ema Bloodwork, Why Biospy?
Lisa replied to poobelly's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With a history of digestive issues, an endoscopy exam could look for other concerns aside from Celiac Disease. I think it might be wise to pursue in adults, as well as a colonoscopy. In young children, it's another issue. And a personal choice. As mentioned by Jestgar, if the diet is unsuccessful after a reasonable amount of time, I would pursue other... -

ARCHIVED Sonic-are The Tater Tots Wheat Free?
Lisa replied to LisaAC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know about the contents of the Sonic Tater Tots, but there is a very high possibility that they are fried in shared equiptment, with things such as breaded chicken or breaded fish. I believe only a few drinks are considered gluten free at Sonic. Sorry. -
Character was the one of the main reasons for my choice of candidate.

This is not directed any anyone. There are a few subjects on this forum that tend to bring out a lot of emotion. Politics is one of them. A good healthy discussion is great, but please keep in mind that words can offend. Choose wisely. ....carry on.

ARCHIVED Testing Results
Lisa replied to holiday16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to learn to read labels. Remember, your personal health is in your hands alone. I truly don't mean to start an issue here, honestly. But, I am totally beside myself with the interest in this product. Sure, maybe in theory it's an interesting idea. And perhaps someday, it can be used efficiently and cost wise for... -

ARCHIVED Testing Results
Lisa replied to holiday16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In reference to the current topic/discussion, grounds for a law suit can claim Libel only if the information is FALSE. If you claim that a product does, in fact contain gluten, where as, it has always been tested not to contain gluten in a reputable quality controlled environment, a law suit can occur and the burden of proof remains with you. Are main... -
ARCHIVED My Mom Was Just Told She Has Celiac.. I Need All The Info I Can Find
Lisa replied to Katie7249's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, Katie if you tell us your closet city, I can send you some links to local support organizations. -
Dairy is often suggested to eliminate or limit for a period of time while you are healing. There is a connection between dairy and your villi in your small intestines. If your villi are damaged due to Celiac Disease, dairy may give you symptoms similar to gluten. Once some healing takes place, dairy can be reintroduces without issue.

ARCHIVED Refractory Celiac Disease
Lisa replied to beachbel's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We are not doctors and we cannot diagnose anyone on the Internet. In fact, that would be very unwise and potentially dangerous. You have received some really good directions to look into and good information to present to your doctor. Good luck and please keep us informed. -
ARCHIVED Hi! I'm New Here!
Lisa replied to fleckapo's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome! A follow up endoscopy and biopsy are not necessary with clear positive blood work. What you have is a diagnosis in itself. It can show the level of damage and look for other issues. It is a personal choice. Gluten can be pretty tricky and it's everywhere. We have many, many parents with young school age children. I'm sure they will help... -
ARCHIVED Refractory Celiac Disease
Lisa replied to beachbel's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi beachbel, I certainly am not well versed as I would like BUT... (don't you hate it when people say that! ) If you continue to show levels of active antibodies, it indicates that your body is reacting to gluten from somewhere, according to what I understand. If your antibodies were negative you you still had no healing of your villi, I would... -

There is a mountain of information to learn when you first begin the diet. It can be overwhelming and confusing. ConAgra is one of the good guys. I have the utmost of confidence in their disclosure policy.
