  1. I can't guarantee, but I would think that cotton candy would be the ONLY safe thing at a fair. Cotton candy is just spun sugar.
  2. Between now and your trip, I'll try to come up with some more suggestios. Lisa
  3. I don't get up to Duck much because of the summer traffic congestion. I do know that there is a Food Lion there that should have have some gluten free waffle and perhaps some Amy's frozen foods. Although, I don't know of any specific health food stores in Duck, you could look them up in the phone book. I'm sure there should be one or two. Most of...
  4. Hello and glad that you have found us. You mentioned that you went gluten free in April and then you were tested last week. It is often recommended that before testing that you should stay on a gluten diet up until testing, because is can alter the results. Testing can rule Celiac in, but it cannot rule it out. Since you felt 95% better on the...
  5. Bacon saved and in the Quiche! BACK ON SUBJECT.
  6. Welcome to the forum. Glad that you have found us. Flattening of the villi is classic in a Celiac diagnosis. I don't see why you doctor has any doubt about this. Your other symptom also fit. You will find no better source for Celiac than here. (I'll let other chime in - I'm burning the bacon )
  7. Yeah!!!! Jess comes through
  8. If I recall, at last disccussion...gluten cannot be burned off by heat. Other will post regarding the scientificness.
  9. I would find it hard to vary quality of vinegars....just my thought. But, with that said, I do buy brand names rather than generic. I like to support companies that have good listing practices.
  10. Tina, I'll step in if you don't mind. Personal care products can be just as important as food. Shampoos, lotions, toothpaste, lipstick, lip balms, make-up, all have the possibility to find their way into your mouth which can trigger the gluten response. Although, people do not eat shampoo, but it is highly likely that it can get into your mouth during...
  11. At this late date, I would not involve the Caterer. The food count is established and most likely nothing will change by your attendence. It is also a very busy time for the wedding party. I would either eat before attending the wedding and dinner, or bring your own food for you and your family. You most likely would do that anyway when attending...
  12. Hey Maggie: Glad that you have found us. I can understand you reserve in not wanting to pursue a dx for Celiac. Believe me no one here wants to have celiac, but the bottom line for all of us is better health. So many of us have been sick for years without answers. So a dx of Celiac, to me atleast, was welcome. This is something that I can have controll...
  13. Happy 25! Hope you have a wonderful day.
  14. Sometimes the BRAT Diet can be helpful... Banana, Rice, AppleSauce and Tea. Once the reaction takes place sometimes you just have to let it run it's course. Drink plenty of water, that seem to help me a bit.
  15. An official welcome! Not all juices are gluten free. You have to look for 100% juice and it is always good to read the labels. The cheddar cheese should be go to go, but as you may have read from others, dairy is often hard to digest in the beginning. Try going dairy light until some healing can begin. If you have any other questions, always feel...
  16. Manda: What about Philly CheeseCake (in the tub) with fruit topping. It would be more like pudding rather than a cake, but it tastes wonderful.
  17. Doll had some very good answers. I am having the same symptoms currently. Is you daughter very thin, with little padding on her legs and bottom. This is me. When I sit for a short period of time of cross my legs, I get the "falling asleep" feeling. It is a nerve problem and in my case some weight gain will help me.
  18. Biopsy's can be hit and miss. A biopsy can rule Celiac in, but not necessarily rule it out. As in blood work. If you have a possitive result for Celiac, yes, you are diagnosed with Celiac. The most genuine form of diagnosis is a positive dietary response.
  19. ...."at last check" may have been a year ago when there WAS concern about the Vinegar. I would love to use Hidden Vally. I always considered it the best.
  20. All of Newman's are gluten free EXCEPT, Family Italian. Kraft will always list. Hidden Valley in the bottle, at last check was not gluten free.
  21. What described is very typical of "brain for". In the beginning I had symptoms such as that included some gait problems and speech problems.. B-12 injection helped a lot. Perhaps some blood work might indicate some vitamin or mineral defences that attributes to your problem. I also assume that you are not living in a totally free of gluten household...
  22. Vincent, So glad that that red-headed cuties is doing so well. I just wanted to add somethings that I have read on these posts. Several adults have posted that they were diagnosed with Celiac as a child and then it went "silent", only to reoccur in adulthood. I have not come across any studies regarding this, though. I do hope that this is not...
  23. Barb, I put you in the Recipe Section. Your creations sound wonderful.
  24. Lizzie, because it's important to some people. It is a personal choice.
  25. Sigh....what to do?
