ARCHIVED Everything Got Better Except The Migraines.....why?
Lisa replied to nadien's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My son-in-law gets terrible migraines and we suspect it's MSG related. When you remove gluten from your system, sometimes you can hear other intolerant voices. -

ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
Lisa replied to sarahw's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Possessing a specific gene does not insure development of Celiac. Thirty percent of the general population carry these genes and never trigger Celiac Disease. We have a long way to go for genetic testing and reasons for the sudden unset of this disease. Gene testing, blood testing, endoscopy and dietary results are a cumulative diagnostic result. -

ARCHIVED Orange Juice
Lisa replied to Andrew10's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Honey, there is NO guarantee. BUT we have come to trust SOME companies who will clearly disclose all sources of gluten....Kraft, Unilevel, Hormel Just because a product is not listed does not mean it contains gluten. Learn to read labeled and don't rely on lists. Learn to walk on your own.....imagine your freedom! -

Titanium ( /taɪˈteɪniəm/ ty-tay-nee-əm) is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22. It has a low density and is a strong, lustrous, corrosion-resistant (including sea water, aqua regia and chlorine) transition metal with a silver color. Sounds like a good choice! -
ARCHIVED Skin Care Products
Lisa replied to Sarah P's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most likely, you have a gluten allergy which manifests itself topically, as well as a gluten intolerance. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin, as Gemini stated. -

Mexican Coke uses sugar, rather than High Fructose Corn Syrup. I have not tried it, but I heard it's GREAT! -

ARCHIVED Orange Juice
Lisa replied to Andrew10's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No, as I understand it to believe that they don't have to list any additives of flavors if it's derived from an Orange source. If wheat were added, it by law would be required to be listed as a source or ingredient. I would find it highly improbable that OJ would contain any gluten. -
ARCHIVED Orange Juice
Lisa replied to Andrew10's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There is no legal standard adopted in the US to determine what is to eligible to be labeled gluten free. Gluten free labeling is totally voluntary at this time. I would prefer to be a good label reader, to insure for myself that what I am eating is suitable for my diet. A product labeled "gluten free" means nothing to me at this time....just sayin' -
ARCHIVED Orange Juice

That's a bit of a turn-off for me.... and I love orange juice. I wonder if the concentrated version would be less tampered with? -
ARCHIVED Pop Chips Gluten Free? Bad Reaction.
Lisa replied to Kippen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Or as you questioned, he could be developing other intolerance as many people here have experiences. I would try to "clean" up his diet for a while, double check on the gluten exposure and see if that helps. If not, try to eliminate soy or another suspected intolerance. And msg should be avoided just because it's nasty, not because of gluten.... -
ARCHIVED Pop Chips Gluten Free? Bad Reaction.
Lisa replied to Kippen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not familiar with that brand. If he is just beginning the diet, all foods can be bothersome until some healing takes place, gluten free or not. It took me about six months to become healthier, for me to experience a specific reaction to gluten in something I ate. I would suggest a simple diet of natural/whole foods for a while and add additions... -
Yup, your reaction time can vary, especially with some healing time behind you. But it can be different from person to person. Sometimes it makes it hard to figure things out though.

Hi Hedgie and Welcome! You post kinda hit me hard. Two years ago December 21 my gorgeous classical dancer niece died. She struggled with an eating disorder, and also had some emotional issues in her youth. She enjoyed some drinking, but not to a great excess...and her system just could not handle it and shut down. We lost her. And it was tragic...

I think this is rather a personal blog, rather than primary information. Many facts listed here are inaccurate for instance: MODIFIED FOOD STARCH – starch that has been chemically altered to improve its thickening properties. Before the starch is modified, it is separated from the protein through isolation techniques; therefore, the source of the starch u...

Interesting. Could you post a source for that information that you came across? Please.

ARCHIVED Burt's Bees
Lisa replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yup...sorry to say they are going with the "SAFE" response. As long as they continue to list all of their ingredients, I will buy their products. The caster oil that I posted, should be so minimal as not to be a concern. It's only worth a post to those of us who used to be fed caster oil to make us all "happy and regular". -
Two of my favorite lip balms (BB's) contains caster oil. Is there anyone out there who remembers caster oil? I was wondering if multiple applications during the day , and daily could cause some digestive issues? I know that they are under new ownership....which has nothing to do with caster oil.
