  1. I questioned this compnay regarding their Garlic Pepper, Lemon Pepper and Granulated Garlic .They tell me all three are gluten free. Claire
  2. I season everything - probably a little heavy for most people. What you have in these recipes is basic. Be as creative as you want. If you are going to use the soup to eat 'straight' as opposed to using in a casserole - a touch of roasted red pepper gives a lovely flavor. Claire
  3. Have you every tried charcoal tablets. These absorb. Doctor at Immuno Labs recommended this to me. Claire

    ARCHIVED Casein?

Someone on the forum recently posted that Lactaid tablets have gluten. Nothing said about other brands. I have inquired but no response. Claire P.S. I stand corrected. Bean is right. I stated it incorrectly. That's what I get for quoting a GP.
  5. Do you feel welcome yet? If not, - welcome. You are going to love this place. Information, support and genuine sharing goes on here. You definitely found the right place. Come on in and stay awhile. Claire
  6. The show covered several different diseases. The first one was celiac. These diseases are presented as case studies. The Celiac case was a small child who presented atypical symptoms. He did not thrive, was small, did not talk and generally performed way below his age expectations. He had unusual seizure like episodes that kept getting worse and more frequent...

    ARCHIVED Casein?

Yes, casein is the protein in milk. Lactose is an enzyme. You can be intolerant of one or the other or both. In celiacs the intestinal damages often makes dairy products reactive. They tell me this sometimes clears up overtime. Many celiacs are Gluten-free Casein-free by choice. I choose to be because of the remarkable similiarity between the wheat protein...
  8. I am reposting this piece that alerts to this possibility for continued symptoms: High Prevalence of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth in Celiac Patients with Persistence of Gastrointestinal Symptoms after Gluten Withdrawal. OBJECTIVE: Celiac disease is a gluten-sensitive enteropathy with a broad spectrum of clinical manifestation, and most celiac...
  9. check out this website for recipes for cream soup. These are not dairy free but some other milk could be subsituted - rice, soy, or nut milk. Claire CREAMED SOUP SUBSTITUTES Open Original Shared Link
  10. Oh - shortbread! I really like that. Don't forget that recipe. Pamela's Pecan Shortbread but I am sure it would cheaper to make it at home. Thanks in advance of recipel Claire
  11. Your doctor is absolutely wrong. After 5 months gluten free you couldn't possibly get a positive reading on the blood work. I had a doctor make that same mistake. I sugest you do some research on the subject - either here on the forum or online. There is plenty of information. It would not be wise to go back on gluten just to get a test. If gluten...
  12. Thanks from me too. I am so glad that Peanut Butter is on the gluten-free list. Claire
  13. Sounds intriguing. Thanks. Claire
  14. I thought I was being too critical of Jax Peters Lowell. Glad to hear someone else say this. I wrote to someone here on the forum about the fact that Peters affluence is showing. It comes through very strongly and could be a real turn off for someone struggling to manage gluten-free on a budget. And who among us would be likely to be so demanding in a restaurant...
  15. Yes, please do. Thanks. Claire

  17. Sounds tougher than it is. You have to do it once or twice to get into the swing of it. After that it's a breeze. Takes about a half hour of prep work. The rest of the time it is doing its' own work. Claire
  18. I can't say for sure whether it is more probiotics, less lactose or if the deciding factor is the organic milk. Milk free of contamination from pesticides etc. could be the reason my daughter could eat it. She is very sensitive to dairy but had no trouble with her homemade organic variety. It takes four hours not counting a half hour or so of prep time...
  19. Tried it once - didn't like it. Very sweet. Claire If you are not CF, eating yogurt - preferably home made with organic milk - or eating Brie cheese will help get those bacteria back. Claire
  20. Hers' sure wasn't that simple. She used a yogurt maker. Starter was Yogourmet freeze dried yogurt starter. You will need: I qt. ORGANIC milk 1 tsp. unflavored gelatin Starter culture candy thermometer For thick, firm yogurt: Place cold, ORGANIC milk in the top of a double boiler. Stir in sugar or honey if a sweeter less tart...
  21. Try raw milk cheese (unpasteurized). Also very aged cheese. See if you can handle this. No processed cheese. Claire
  22. Can you share your pie recipe - either as a post or as a PM. Thank you. Claire
  23. I don't know what others here will say but I can't see any purpose for a CT. It' simply not an appropriate tool. Blood tests are not always reliable, especially if analyzed in local labs. I would vote for Enterolab's Stool Sample Test. Claire
  24. I am of the mind that some underlying condition does not 'turns into' celiac. I think celiac was there all along and presenting with only the mildest of symptoms. Then, with a trigger, it erupts into a full blown expression of the the disease - not something new, just a more pronounced version of the same thing. Claire
  25. Well we certainly have gotten bent out of shape, haven't we? Being here at the end (for the moment) and looking over these posts, it seems there has been more than a little bit of misunderstanding and misreading. Maybe some of you got glutened during the holiday and are subsequently contankerous. I thought we were all trying to provide helpful responses...
