  1. I don't enjoy eating out anymore either. Maybe there will be a strictly gluten free chain restaurant some day. That would be heaven!
  2. I would insist on being tested for Celiac and I would go to an allergist. I didn't test as allergic to wheat on the scratch test, but I definately have Celiac. Your gastro should give you an endoscopy and the gene testing, imo. If he won't, I'd switch doctors. If it was his health, I'm sure he wouldn't be taking his time about it. Remember too...
  3. Nantzie, I'm sorry you're experiencing a lack of support right now. That can be very frustrating, and it hurts ! I also understand how some people will think because you look o.k. that you must be feeling fine. I don't think my mom really accepted things until she saw me getting an infusion of Remicade. That was a lightbulb moment for her. A lot of...
  4. Allergy testing is definately worth it. I found I was allergic to casein, nuts, eggs, soy, corn and chocolate, in addition to gluten. Also, if you have IgA deficiency you might have more allergies than other people. Even while taking strong Crohn's medicines I was very sick until I figured out what else I'm allergic to. Good luck and hang in there. It...
  5. I'm not sure, but the ones I've seen have been. I think McCormick Spices will always state ingredients. That's the brand I have.
  6. When I can't go Coca Cola works.
  7. I guess I'm being overly sensitive also. My mom keeps telling me to eat whatever I want to, stop taking my Crohn's medicine, etc. She thinks I can think it all away with positive thinking. I think she's watching too much Oprah.
  8. I make homemade bread a lot. The GlutenFreePantry has easy banana bread and lemon poppy seed mixes. I just use egg replacer in place of the eggs and rice milk with a bit of lemon juice for the buttermilk. It's really easy and turns out great.(My husband even eats it.) Kinnikinik English Muffins or Tapioca Bread toasted are good, and Amazon cereals are good...
  9. Those smoothie recipes sound great. Thanks for posting them.
  10. I miss dairy more than gluten. I wish they'd come up with a pill for allergy to dairy. I'd pay big for that!
  11. Lisa, Hang in there. It does get easier over time. x
  12. I'm pretty sure GNC has what you're looking for. A lot of their products are gluten free, but if not it will say on packaging. I did a search and they have GNC Natural Brand Green Earth Food, With Natural Vitamins, Minerals, and Enzymes, Tablets 180 ea available at drugstore.com. They usually have free shipping with a minimum purchase of $25 or $50. Hope...

    ARCHIVED Energy Please.

Open Original Shared Link and many other gluten free on-line stores have search engines that let you enter which items you want to avoid. This can help narrow down the search. Can you have milk protein (casein)? If so, Boost Breezes are good and give energy. I'm unable to continue them due to the casein, but they are good and give energy. Ensure also...
  14. [q He is also lactose-intolerant (his whole family). He really can't eat ice cream without it going right through him. His sister is going through a tough time lately and is going to see a GI doctor. I told her about the gluten-free diet. It will be interesting to see if that helps her. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  15. Musikate, Hello. If your leg broke that easily, you obviously need a bone density test. Can you see a rheumatologist without a referral from your doctor? If so, I would try to do that. If not, I would request a referral from your primary care physician and get that done asap. Any good rheumie will check your bone density, your vitamin d and calcium levels...
  16. I'm a Swedish,Irish,French and American Indian mutt.
  17. Does anyone burn out a lot of light bulbs when you turn on a light?
  18. The Glutano ones taste much better to me if they're refrigerated first.
  19. Judi, I'm happy to hear you have the fennel growing in your yard! I've been taking VS-III enzymes, but I used to take Enzymatic Pearls when I only had Celiac. I was doing better for about a year, but I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and some other auto-immune problems suddenly. My symptoms with Celiac were losing a lot of weight (I've...
  20. I think I heard something about restless leg syndrome being related to Celiac. I've been having a problem staying asleep lately. I'll wake up at the slightest noise. I wonder if there's a vitamin that could help with this?
  21. Kinikk's bread is good, but I would avoid the buns. They're really dry and door-stoppish.
  22. The Viactivs are good but I got a cavity a couple of months after using them. I guess I should have brushed my teeth right afterwards!
  23. When eating out I always ask for a plain salad with no croutons in a clean bowl, steamed vegetables with no seasonings. If I'm not sure of a gluten free dressing I just squeeze some lemon juice over the salad.
  24. My g.i. doctor said a lot of people have problems with apples and other unpeeled fruits. I also have problems with apples in all forms. Have you been checked for Crohn's or colitis yet?
