ARCHIVED Uticaria, Lactose, Blood Type
janpell replied to Trixlm's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Trxlm, I relate to your point about the fog lifting and finally "seeing things". I has taken me two full years to get to a point where I see a food causing a reaction. I personally react to all inflammatory foods (except red meat and eggs) so the list is pretty extensive. I can have most things in moderation but find soy, peanuts, gluten and dairy (not so... -
ARCHIVED Uticaria, Lactose, Blood Type

What? Another with the same symptoms I get while exercising? And with a name! Awesome, really. I have tried many diets to help with my AI conditions, blood type included. I found the Arthritis protocol worked well for me as it eliminated all inflammatory foods - gluten, dairy, nightshades, soy, alcohol and it was very low carb, yes I am an O. I was impressed... -
ARCHIVED Can Food Intolerance Cause Anaphylaxis? Yes.
janpell replied to GottaSki's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Okay, reading your personal blurb at the bottom of posts I probably should get one to have on hand. Your symptoms are remarkably close to mine with autoimmune, endo and the like. Here I thought I was the only person who reacts to heat and exercise. I get extreme itching and want to tear off my skin. It doesn't always happen but as soon as I feel it, I stop... -
ARCHIVED Can Food Intolerance Cause Anaphylaxis? Yes.
janpell replied to GottaSki's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I just went for allergy testing today. It was negative to the 12 samples they tried but the red burning cheeks and tight forhead started within twenty minutes of administering. The doctor recommended an epipen regardless of the negative results as I appear to be reacting to something although in a different manner. It was so comforting to go to a doctor and... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Reaction That Is Not Intestinal In Nature
janpell replied to Beth in N's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I haven't been tested for Celiac but definitely react. I have been gluten free for two years (with random cheating) and never really clearing up my symptoms but went fully gluten free for the past six months or so. I get the pressure in my head too. For me, it is at the back of my head, with a very heavy feeling and I can hear/feel my blood pulse very strongly... -
ARCHIVED Gastro Punted To The Allergist... Better Or Worse?
janpell replied to Aprilelayne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son (2) was diagnosed with toddler diarrhea as his blood panel was low for celiac and all tests were negative for allergies. I pulled him off of dairy and gluten and his stools were formed within ten days. Sorry, not really answering your question, just letting you know that his stools became normal pretty quick after removing his offending foods. They... -
I am trying to figure my kids out and I do know they tend to get darkness under their eyes. I think my son had gluten by accident on Friday and he spent the weekend with a bit of pain in his knees and being nauseous. Now today, he has bags/darkness under his eyes. Not sure if this is from Friday or if maybe he is having problems with other foods. Does this...

ARCHIVED Doctor Says I Should Take Anti-Anxiety Meds...................
janpell replied to nosy parker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Why not just take your health in your own hands? I did and it is the best decision I ever made. Of course I spent months and months questioning what the problem really was and to trust my doctor. I was put on anxiety medication 10 years ago because I had the same thing happening (which was really Costochondritis) but because my doctor told me I was "too young... -
ARCHIVED Neck And Shoulder Pain About 50% Better!
janpell replied to possiblyglutensensitive's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Me too. I have arthritis and I when I did my first elimination diet I went from not being able to turn a door knob, lift a plate, stand without aid, even if I sat too long (15 minutes at times) my joints would seize up in pain. I had to move all day long (I was exhausted as I had a one year old) and would have to go to bed at 7 or 8:00 and would wake up in... -
Well, I can't say for sure I had DH but I was getting blistery pimples on my chin in clusters that would rupture on their own. I also experienced heavy hair loss. My doctor doesn't believe I have Celiac because I don't have stomach issues (just everything else, lol) so I just was extra strict with my diet (which I already was). I also got rid of all cleansers...

ARCHIVED Instant Behavior Change In Son After Going Gluten Free.
janpell replied to RyanIN's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have two boys gluten free. My youngest (age 3) would have terrible meltdowns with no control of his emotions - he didn't know why he was so frustrated. Everyone said it was because he couldn't talk yet so he can't communicate what he has to say. He was also quite pigeon toed. He slips under the radar for autism and is growing well (he did have loose stools... -
ARCHIVED Thanks!
janpell replied to janpell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We are on our second doctor. That is why I love this site! It gives me the confidence to move forward and not question what I am doing. I am in Canada so it is a different system with standardized care. That's the thing about the anemia - the nurse called to inform us and then went to ask the doctor when we should come for a retest and he said "no need".... -
Well, I haven't been on the forum long but just to see others experiencing conditions and symptoms (autoimmune) like myself has helped me and my family out so much. It is great to have a place to go and feel you aren't crazy! My 12 year old son has recently started symptoms of severe depression - extreme self doubt and insecurities on self worth, an eye...

ARCHIVED Ah! More Restrictions! Any Hope Of Re-Introduction?
janpell replied to granolagal's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am another who works very well with red meat. I found a local farmer who offers tours of his facility. It is a small family farm and they put a lot of effort into the care of the animals and ecosytem. They also have an organic garden which they grow produce for markets (owned and operated by his daugther and her family). I feel good buying from him. I won... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else React To Salt/sodium?
janpell replied to gluten-is-kryptonite's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Funny because some chips set me off too? Then it gets me thinking it's potatoes but I can make my own and be okay. Hmmm, wonder what else is added to the chips? Oh, and the Kettle brand is my worst offender. Am totally trying those beet chips as I have a bag of beets sitting on my counter as I type. -

Another vote for vitamin D. Don't forget about weight bearing exercise, bone density is enhanced by weight training. -

You can also try a couple drops of bitters (homeopathic) on your tongue to try to get your digestive system working before you start eating. Chew and chew your food (I personally have a hard with this - I tend to wolf it down like the animal I am). I also take a digestive enzyme when I go to bed on top of the ones with meals (when I remember). -
ARCHIVED An Interesting Story And Introduction
janpell replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
"my doctor is generally anti drug so he and I both prefer to see if it's at all possible to get out of this condition somewhat naturally" Where did you find this doctor? I need him or her, lol. Seriously, I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for close to 10 years. When I first when to my dr I got a "It's because you pick your face". I should have responded... -
ARCHIVED The Pieces Dont Fit- Help!
janpell replied to kvtlove's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"so i dont think its something prominent enough in my diet to be causing all these problems." Please don't dismiss it though. If it is gluten you could have created enough damage that it made other foods a problem. Or maybe other foods were a problem all along? Who know, I don't think anyone does. My symptoms prediet. -very thin, weak, fine hair -psoriasis... -
ARCHIVED The Pieces Dont Fit- Help!
janpell replied to kvtlove's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would seriously think about doing an elimination diet (look for one that is pretty strict). Make sure you keep a journal to document everything! Make sure you are strict with inflammation causing foods - gluten, dairy, sugar, nightshades, alcohol, caffeine. It is so much work but it is so worth it! BTW, solanines (which have fungicidal and pesticidal properties... -
ARCHIVED 18M Old - With Genetics Against Her
janpell replied to Aprilelayne's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Problem with relying on allergy tests, you miss a lot! This has been my process with myself and my son. He had loose stools until age three. His celiac testing came back negative as well as all his test for allergies. I had been playing around with elimination diets myself for the past two years and went fully gluten free one year ago. I am for the most part... -
ARCHIVED Dental Health And Celiac
janpell replied to ChrisRR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Although I don't have Celiac (never diagnosed) I am gluten, dairy, soy, peanut free (along with many other foods) intolerant. I had gingivitis and enamel problems for most of my life. My teeth are no longer transparent looking and my gingivitis has cleared. Of course, the receding gums are here to stay. Also, try oil pulling with coconut oil, it has also...- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Is Diagnosis Necessary?
janpell replied to uglyhen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am also undiagnosed. I too have PsA. I am gluten, dairy, soy, peanut, sulphite free. I eat very little sugar, lower carb, and there are many food items I can have on a very minimal basis. My youngest son had very loose stools after moving onto dairy and solids. I did an Enterolab and had him tested for Celiac. Celiac came back negative Enterolab had positive... -
ARCHIVED Losing Hope...
janpell replied to kswan08's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would definitely do a food journal. Would you try a strict elimination diet? This is how I figured out what foods don't work for me. I also tried a food sensitivity test $500 later - it was wrong:(. As much as I hate to journal my food, it was the only way. Write down everything you eat and drink, the time, take weight in the morning and night, write down...
