ARCHIVED Help with tests results please
cyclinglady replied to gj11611's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are IGA deficient, I can say that much. Here is a link that might help from the University of Chicago: Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Question regarding blood results (IgA deficiency)
cyclinglady replied to kleggy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hopefully, they would show healthy villi! Experts normally just use the blood tests for diet compliance. -
ARCHIVED Prana nuts and seeds
cyclinglady replied to dania's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I do not know the brand , but I would buy them because they are certified (tested). ?. You can not get much better than that when buying processed foods. Keep in mind, if they do bother you it could be that in general nuts are hard to digest with a damaged or healing gut. I assume you are new to celiac disease or NCGI. -
ARCHIVED Question about blood work
cyclinglady replied to williamsb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The University of Chicago's celiac website can help answer your question: Open Original Shared Link "Follow-up testing is conducted to ensure that antibody levels are returning to normal, indicating that the intestine is healing on the new diet. For this reason, repeat intestinal... -
ARCHIVED Could all pobiotics make me very ill right now???
cyclinglady replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have used Bio-K which is certified gluten-free and long before my celiac disease diagnosis. Prio to my dx, I used it after a course of antibiotics per my doctor. It comes in milk, rice or a soy base. It does need refrigeration and it is not cheap. I bought some when I was glutened badly this past July. Country life also has certified gluten... -
ARCHIVED Tested negative 3 years ago still unsure
cyclinglady replied to Cara1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Lactose intolerance is very common among newly diagnosed celiacs, but it is also common in the general aging population and different races (e.g. Asian). So, I can not answer your question. An endoscopy is still considered the gold standard in helping to diagnose celiac disease. But taking just the typical 4 to 6 samples can be a hit or miss! The small... -
ARCHIVED Tested negative 3 years ago still unsure
cyclinglady replied to Cara1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The only way to know for sure is to get retested. Be sure to ask for the complete blood panel because I personally did not get a positive on the standard TTG screening test yet I had moderate to severe damage. -Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and (tTG) IgG -Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and (DGP) IgG ... -
ARCHIVED Rotisserie Chickens
cyclinglady replied to CeeLeighacLady's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think in a small grocery store, there is always a risk of cross contamination. So, you were right, it does vary by store. The risk is even less for the Costco chicken in my opinion. I have grilled the "chicken guy" at Costco twice. He brings in the chickens that are seasoned from their supplier. He unloads them into a dedicated sink. Then he places... -

You can always choose a certified gluten-free probiotic. -
ARCHIVED Question regarding blood results (IgA deficiency)
cyclinglady replied to kleggy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It looks like you have a mild positive on the Anti-Gliadin IGA test. A positive is a positive. You only need one positive on the celiac blood panel. The next step is obtaining biopsies via an endoscopy to confirm if you have celiac disease. I suggest reasearching more on the University of Chicago's celiac website. Welcome to the forum! -
ARCHIVED Caramel Color
cyclinglady replied to Sinenox's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Welcome to the forum, Gommble73! ? Your link is to a blog. Anyone can blog. We even have a blog section for our members. But blogs are not very scientific. You should use caution when obtaining information from an older blog. Carmel color is safe to consume in the US. Always read the label and when in doubt, call the manufacturer directly as websites... -
ARCHIVED Finally Got Genetic Testing Results
cyclinglady replied to cityelle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From my research, the genetic test is given to help rule out and NOT diagnosis celiac disease. It is thought that some 30% of the population carries the standard celiac genes just a few go n to develop celiac disease. Not having those genes is a good sign you might never develop celiac. There are some rare people who have different genes but still end... -
ARCHIVED hydromorphone
cyclinglady replied to DougE's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks! That is what I get for speed reading! ?. I saw hydrocodone instead! I ask my pharmacist, but check with the manufacturer always! This list has been helpful when the pharmacist and manufactuer are closed and people have been desperate. You are so right, it is just one tool that we celiacs can use. -
ARCHIVED Good bread
cyclinglady replied to plumbago's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What about those who ask for dipped beefs? I would worry about cross contamination (cc) unless they set up a separate line (sandwich shop in Alpharetta, GA does that). I have issues with garlic, so beefs are out for me altogether now, but my hubby can't have them due to possible cc issues. -

ARCHIVED can't figure out what is glutening me
cyclinglady replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Excellent suggestion! I had issues with xanthan gum found in most commercial breads. I also can not eat anything with a sausage casing. It comes right back up after a few hours suffering nausea. Not a gluten issue, just a "me" problem. -
ARCHIVED Question regarding blood results (IgA deficiency)
cyclinglady replied to kleggy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes! Pursue the other celiac tests. But you are IGA deficient (score 83), so that should give you a false reading on the DGP IGA test as well. I am not IGA deficient, but I tested positive on ONLY the DGP Iga tests and all the others were negative yet I had a Marsh Stage IIIB biopsy results. What were the biopsy results? How many samples... -

Can you ask the hospital pharmacist? It appears to be gluten free (at least by the mentioned companies) per this list that is compiled by a pharmacist: Open Original Shared Link Here is the main page: Open Original Shared Link -
This was years ago, but I injured my eyes during final exams week (I stayed up all night writing a paper and left my hard contacts in). I had severe corneal abrasions. I took an incomplete in Economics and after the winter break, went back and took the final. I did have documentation from my doctor and that satisfied my professor. I can see the school...

ARCHIVED Osteoporosis treatment alternatives
cyclinglady replied to WinterSong's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
WinterSong, When your mother stated that she has been gluten free for five years, has she really been gluten free (cross contamination, not eating out frequently, etc)? Some folks think that just avoiding gluten in foods is enough, but we all know better. Getting glutened many times a year could cause malabsorption issues contributing to her osteoporosis... -

ARCHIVED Osteoporosis treatment alternatives
cyclinglady replied to WinterSong's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I did not mean to offend you. I just wanted people to know that there are many options for treating osteoporosis. All have risks and benefits and there are no clear-cut answers as to which treatment is best because we, as individuals, vary! ? In my personal case, I had been on HRT long before my celiac disease diagnosis for perimenopausal issues... -
ARCHIVED Osteoporosis treatment alternatives
cyclinglady replied to WinterSong's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Estrogen can be a treatment for osteoporosis. See this link to the National Institute of Health regarding osteoporosis and treatment options: Open Original Shared Link There are so many forms of HRT. The correct dosage (which varies) should be determined by a medical doctor. HRT is one of many treatment options for osteoporosis. Like any... -
ARCHIVED Osteoporosis treatment alternatives
cyclinglady replied to WinterSong's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have osteoporosis. I was diagnosed two months after my celiac disease diagnosis when I fractured two vertabrae doing nothing! I am confident that I eat a great diet... -
ARCHIVED I need some suggestions
cyclinglady replied to mommy-6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How is your relationship with your GI? Could he or she order if your GP resists? My GP did not hesitate to check my kid for anemia (my main symptom) and ordered the complete panel and she was symptom free. I know cost can be an issue for both practitioners and patients, but celiac strongly runs in your family!
