  1. Can't you just have a diet coke? I can't imagine my world without a diet pepsi, or rather those around me would not be having a very good time! Why did you have to have that done? Is that the same thing as the endscopy
  2. Hi Kris: It might be the less diet coke thing. Hope you feel better now. What is an EGD?
  3. I agree you might have another intolerance. I highly doubt you are more sensitive than most of us celiac's, we get very ill. The longer one is gluten free the harsher our reaction seems to be to gluten. I have eaten all of the candy you listed, except for the mints and mike & ikes without a problem, I do eat snickers. Anyway, I would look into seeing...
  4. Leah: I am so very sorry. Having lost many family and friends I know nothing I could say will make any of this any easier for you. Just know I am truly sorry and that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hold onto the good memories you have. You are always such a bright light on this site, I wanted you to know that as I am sure you have been a bright...
  5. I always stary out with their shrimp on the barbie, then have a salad with ranch, then the chicken with their baked potato and top it off with either the sinful sundae or the thunder from down under ummmmm
  6. Just a thought Andrea, they might then have to admit they are not always right?
  7. What a good idea!
  8. Ursula: When I read your response to your husband I thought you Go Girl!!! There is no excuse for your husband to talk to you like that. I am glad you are standing up for yourself. Good for you on losing the 20 pounds for yourself! And you are so right, people don't know how hurtful their comments are, but they should.
  9. Hi Julie: Just taking a break from trying to catch all the tumbleweeds, I tell you, I take a couple of days off and look what happens! No I haven't checked anything off the list, hopefully soon! Thank-you for asking, you are always so kind. Good for you Leah, I think I have mentioned that my mom and brother were diagnosed in the last year...
  10. Don't worry about what others say. Just let your body heal and the weight will eventually come back. I have finally started gaining weight after 3 years. The thought of fatty foods actually made me feel sick. Well, except for ice cream. Oue whole culture is just so obsessed about weight, people are made fun of because they are too fat, too thin, as long...
  11. I am with you Carla, I just couldn't do it, it just won't come out. I can't go outside either, I peed all over myself years ago and now just can't do it no matter how badly I have to go!
  12. My experience is that I was so ill when finally diagnosed, I am 5' 7" and had dropped from about 135 to 115 and looked awful. I went gluten-free and still didn't really put on any weight. Then about 7 months ago I quit smoking and am now up to 132 and looking for it to slow down. Mostly because none of my clothes are fitting! But, yes I did get really...
  13. Hi Mandi; I wouldn't trust a top layer being gluten free unless it stands alone by itself and you don't want to save the top layer for your first anniversary. You might try posting what area you live in so people that live close by can suggest bakers. Congraulations!
  14. I have to agree with a little bit of what everyone said. I have been a strong advocate of The Outback because it is always so nice to have a restaurant where we can eat that actually has a menu. I ate at the one in Chico California last weekend and for the first time got sick after eating there. I chose not to call and complain because I don't want them...
  15. I just made it really simple at first, just that I couldn't eat anything with gluten in it and then when asked it was just anything made from grains. It just has never been a problem, I don't make it a big deal. They may have felt differently as they got to know me and I opened up more about it but I have found most men have gone out of their way to see...
  16. What a jerk that guy was! I had looked at this thread thinking you had come to Calfiornia and we didn't have gluten free foods. I was going to respond that I wished we had a bigger selection, at least where I live, a small town in Northern California. After reading what you wrote I will never eat at that restaurant. In fact I think I wil contact the...
  17. Have fun Carla, I hope you feel better
  18. Awww Karen You are in my thoughts
  19. I don't know anything about it but just wanted to wish you well. The good thing is that he has found problems before they gave you obvious symptoms.
  20. Hello everyone. How did your job interview go Susan?
  21. Hello everyone. Just thought I would check in. How is everyone?
  22. Hi Laura: It is hard. I haven't had the same experience but my brother has. I was ill and diagnosed with it, then my mom got ill and was diagnosed with it. My younger brother then got tested just in case and also was positive. The thing is he was not having any symptoms. But when they checked his bones it had already started doing damage, his endscopy...
  23. Sparkles: Sorry you had to go through all of that. You are right many of us have gone through the same things, or different, but almost always have bad experiences. That doesn't mean that what you have been through is any easier, just know you are not alone.
  24. Rachel: Silly I am not the vet I am the tumbleweed girl, official bum and leaf sweeper and corn shucker!! Where or where is Susan and her dingo's. Gone for a few days and the place goes to dust!
  25. There are some companies that will mark gluten free, or if something is made from a grain they will put it on the label, like Kraft. However those companies are few and far between. Gluten free always means wheat free, wheat free does not mean gluten free. Does that make any sense?
