  1. Hi: I e-mailed you the information from Bob's Flour Mill that sells Teff. Here's the information from the company that I saw when I went to the Celiac Conference at Stanford this year. The Teff Company TOLL FREE: 1-888-822-2221 info@teffco.com Best of luck Sally
  2. I am so happy for you! Keep up the good health!
  3. How do they diagnose both IBS and celiac? I just don't see how they can say both. I was diagnosed with IBS for many years before someone thought to check for celiac. I am just curious. Thanks
  4. I agree with the mouth sores. I think they are related to a vitamin deficiency of some sort. Every once in a while it happens in my mouth. I then make sure I am taking my vitamins and eventually it goes away. The last time it happened was about a month ago and it seemed to spread into cold sores then eventually went away. Until I read it on here I didn...

    ARCHIVED Nausea

Mel: I know what you are saying, it seems this disease goes on and on. I take Bently at night and that seems to ease my stomach a little bit. One interesting thing happened, I was put on steroids for another reason and for the first time in 2 years my stomach was calm. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I had read before that with refractory sprue...
  7. I can only say from my own experience, but I think I would eat what the doctor said and go ahead and have the test. That way you will know for sure if you have it or not. I remember about ten years before I was actually diagnosed with celiac disease a doctor had run a blood test and said well, the blood work shows a rare disease called celiac, but I'm sure...
  8. Hello my name is melanie and I am all new to this too and I am hoping that I am replying..I have been gluten free now almost two months and I was buying the frito lay stacks and was never feeling better even though they say they were gluten-free I just decided to "when in doubt leave them out" This post was sent to a moderator. Melanie, when you post...
  9. I thought I should warn everyone. I thought I had a cold and it ended up being pneumonia. I had waited two weeks to go to the doctor, because I tend to push myself. I hadn't thought that due to a compromised immune system we might be more prone to it.
  10. I am AB+, does anyone know what food is good for me?
  11. Does anyone have any idea on where I could find a picture that would fit it the avatar spot? And, how once I found one I would be able to move it there? Thanks
  12. I would really appreciate some help. I want to try making my apple pie recipe for Christmas. I am not sure what to use in place of the flour, and if I use gluten-free flour is there anything I need to add or subsitute? Also, if anyone has any good ideas for deserts, I would really appreciate it. Thanks
  13. Thank-you so much for creating this post. I am 5'7" and weigh at the most 115 lbs. I am so tired of my appearance, it seems a lot of people are as hard on thin people as they are on people that are overweight. Initally I lost a lot of weight and have worked hard to put on more weight. It just isn't happening. People can be so rude, I told a co-worker...
  14. Does anyone have a problem gaining weight? Initally I lost about 25 pounds and seem unable to gain weight. I am 5'7" and only weight 115 pounds. I can't seem to put the weight on. I think it may be due in part to not really liking the food I can eat. I also feel that I don't have the energy to make the foods I can have. I really miss being able to just...
  15. I think this information is very useful. I had a very difficult time getting pregnant and took Clomid for 2 1/2 years before getting pregnant with my first child. I took it again for my second and my third was a surprise. I never got pregnant again even though I didn't use any birth control. Of course at the time I didn't know I had celiac disease although...
  16. My sister-in-law went to the Whole Foods in Sacramento, California but they just handed her a list of gluten-free food and sent her off. Alas, they didn't have any gluten-free food in the bakery. I was so bummed. The food they did have was the same items I can find where I live.
  17. I agree, it is up to us to do the research. I live in a very small town and have asked many times if a prescription medication contains gluten and have been told they didn't know. I had also been prescribed Fosomax and it was not on our gluten-free list at that time. The pharmacy gave me the 800 number and I got an actual scientist who didn't know what...
  18. Back to the leg pains, restless legs. Good information regadring the calcium and vitamin intake. I had been taking Klonopin for restless legs and then found out that it wasn't on the gluten-free list. Neeless to say going off it was awful, my whole body went through withdrawls, my heart was about to pound out of my chest. I never would of started it if...
  19. I agree and think nacho's are a great idea but if they are using the same grease to fry the chips in, do you worry about cross-contamination? Also, please correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that we have to be careful of the cheese. My understanding is that if it is the kind that is already melted we can't eat it and then if it's is...
  20. Lynn R. That is so sad, it seems that people never cease to surprise me. I am sorry that you have to go through this, but you are not alone. Just be happy with yourself and things have a way of working out, or so I am told.
  21. Ok, Thanks Jessica I guess it wouldn't of made a difference then if I had eaten that roll! I don't really mean that, it's just sometimes I wish I could eat all of the foods I miss most. I used to love to bake and cook and it seems that I don't have the energy for cooking anymore. When I do it never tastes the same. Guess I am just feeling sorry for...
  22. I do believe that people can be overweight and have celiac. At the conference I went to most of the people looked very healthy and some were overweight. I have also talked to people that have celiac disease and are overweight. Personally I would rather be somewhat overweight than look like an anorexic like I do! I have even had people "assume" that I...
  23. Are you saying that even though the turkey I ate never touched the turkey it could still have gluten? I am so confused because I thought that as long as my food didn't touch the stuffing it would be ok? What is the best thing to do when I go to realtives houses for dinner?
  24. Deby: When I went to the celiac conference at Stanford University in California this October, they estimated that one in 133 people have celiac disease. This is up from just a year ago when they stated it was one in 250. It is shocking! There were over 500 people that attended this year, last year there were about 200 people. Even looking at this message...
  25. Welda: Your response was so nice and had some really good information. Jen, I would check further because I was told by the doctor about 15 years ago after I had a brain tumor removed that they had found plaque on my brain. According to the doctor I had ms. What I have learned since then is that a lot of people with celiac have this show up on the mri...
