  1. As far as I know he did a blood test for the thyroid and felt my throat. He told me it was fine, he seems to always get kind of angry when I question him.
  2. Hi Hermit: I believe they have the positive blood results and then confirm it with the biopsy. But I believe that if a person has a + for the blood they shouldn't have to do the biopsy. In my case the doctor didn't tell me about the + blood test until he had scheduled the biopsy.
  3. That was nice to say bump!
  4. Hi Bump: I have the opposite problem, but I tell you some people have thought I was anorexic and that's no fun either. I have even been asked if I did drugs! methamphetamines to be exact. I don't know, does it help at all to know that you are at least healthy? I suppose I shouldn't of answered this, just trying to help.....
  5. Thanks for the response Kaiti. He did check my thyroid and he said it was fine. The pulse goes fast sitting, standing, laying down. It wakes me up in the middle of the night. It's just awful. He diagnosed the achalasia with a thing called esophageal manometry. It is where they put a tube through your nose with sensors and it goes down to your stomach...
  6. Hi wandering hermit: Welcome aboard. It's always great to have someone new. I can tell you from my experience that before I knew about the celiac I was sick all of the time. Now, if I even get a little bit in my I get very ill. I think our bodies attack any type of gluten when it get's in. I agree with Kaiti, the car crash makes sense.
  7. Coco/Fruity pebbles are ok? If that's true I am going to go buy some!
  8. I am hoping someone can help me out. The doctor told me that I have this other health problem, something called achalasia. There is some thought that it is an immune disorder. He has to send me to a doctor out of town for whatever treatment they do. I went to the doctor back in November because of pressure and pain under my breasts. Then in December...
  9. Hi Ajlauer: I was wondering why you are a reduced gluten household? Does that scare you? I find myself frightened of ingesting gluten and the harm it can cause. Just curious.........
  10. I think the PDA sounds like a great idea.
  11. Mi dad's side was German and my mom's side Dutch. We were the only members of the family to move to California so I don't have a lot of information regarding other people having celiac disease. I did have a cousin that had chron's years ago and sometimes I wonder if they diagnosed it wrong. She had to have a bag, how awful.
  12. Hi Knude: I live in a small town, we don't have a Whole Foods or Trader Joes, and only one health food store. So there is not much to choose from. My grocery bill did double. I do wonder what other peoples experiences are. My bill went from about 100.00 a month for just me to 200.00
  13. Oh celiac3270: That made me laugh. Such a young man you are to have to hear about all of this!
  14. I would have a hard time believing that a small amount of gluten won't be harmful. All that I have learned is there is a lot of silent damage. Have a piece of pizza if I can't live without it? If the thought of cancer and all of the other problems don't scare you, I think that doctor's attitude should. But then again, it's just my thoughts....
  15. Hi Ajlauer: I don't know it made me snicker!
  16. Cali: You have a great attitude!
  17. Hi Peaches: I can only tell you about my experiences. Once I went gluten free my body seemed to become less tolerant to gluten. If I get gluten in my body I feel it right away in my stomach, I get sick, the pain comes back. The only thing I can figure is our bodies become more pure and less tolerant of gluten. I have never experienced gluten shock...
  18. Hi Canadian Karen: I was just wondering how you are feeling?
  19. Hey Kaiti: That would make a good episode for House!
  20. I will have to find a Trader Joe's near me. Does the bread taste like real bread? I don't have a Whole Foods anywhere near where I live. I have tried ordering off the internet but the shipping cost was so expensive.

Mom: I am happy that you have a good doctor. Your right they are hard to find. Since mine diagnosed me with celiac he was finished and I was left on my own. Hold onto him!
  22. Thanks celiac3270, you made me laugh!
  23. I have that problem once in a while, but I always thought it had something to do with my body needing vitamins? It seems like afterwards I start being really good about taking the vitamins and it will clear up. I am pretty sure no gluten is getting past my lips!
  24. I know celiac3270, that's what I always thought and why I did it. I just can't help but wonder now......
