  1. I eat at McDonald's and haven't gotten sick. I always have their hamburger without a bun, fries and a coke.
  2. Hi Sue: Welcome to the site! You will learn a lot of useful information. Toms of Maine is a gluten-free toothpaste. Sally
  3. I have to have a repeat colonscopy Thursday morning and I am not sure I can do it again. Has anybody experienced this? How do you get your mind set to be able to do it? He wants to do it because he removed pre-cancerous polyps 3 years ago. I am just a wreck over the thought of going through it again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Sally
  4. Hi Roo: I have eaten them several times and was fine. Sally
  5. Hi Mya: Be careful what you wish for! Anyway, mine came back once I put weight on Welcome to the board Sally
  6. Hi Nikki: If it's any help several years ago I had a brain tumor removed. Before the surgery they found lesions on my brain and thought I had MS based on that and other symptoms. I have read either here that many people with celiac also have lesions on their brains. Food for thought. I agree with everyone, it seems the longer it takes for the diagnosis...
  7. I think it's important that we don't label everything as having something to do with celiac. I have been sick for almost 3 months and went through "it's all in your head" again. It brought flashbacks to all the years I had celiac without knowing it. It appears it's a diagnosis of achalasia often is suspected on the basis of the history. Patients usually...
  8. Hi everyone: I may need some help here, I had never considered soaps, lotions, make-up etc. as being harmful and containing gluten. Is that true? that is just making me more confused. Thanks Sally
  9. Hi Smith: I know what you mean by expensive. I am also on a limited budget. I did find out that the baking mix can be used as coating for meats. I have used it on chicken and pork chops and it was really good. I have had a problem finding the flour in my area. I just thought I'd pass that on. I don't know of a way to make cheaper food, I bought a...
  10. Hi celiac3270: Thanks for all that research on the products that list gluten. Is that the new labeling law that was passed. I live in California and have been waiting to see when it would take effect. Thanks Sally
  11. I am so shocked to see this. I have run a low fever, I think around 96 degrees and never related it to the celiac disease. Interesting. Sally
  12. Hi everyone: I am not one to tell someone what products to buy that are gluten-free, but I ordered off this site, beef stroganoff with rice, pizza crust, pretzels, tortilla wraps and bagels. The food was so good! I can't even explain what it was like to eat something that tasted almost normal. The only item I didn't care for was the bagels but I have...
  13. Thanks We don't have a resturant here with that name. Do you know if there are any specific foods that are ok? Thanks Sally
  14. Lindam: I don't live in your area, but I am curious about what is safe im mexican restaurants. How can I tell if something is gluten free? I know no flour tortilla shells, but get confused about what sauses and other things besides salads are ok. I have asked and received shrimp Queseldeas on corn shells. But I love mexican food and would like to know...
  15. I have been craving Chinese food and I really don't want to make it myself. Does anyone have any idea of what would be safe? Thanks Sally
  16. Lauriel: Just for information, when I had the scampi sauce I got sick and I guess for the resturant I went to they used flour to thicken the sauce. Sally
  17. If this is any help, the Olive Garden in California will prepare your own pasta. But be careful of cross contamination. Be well Sally
  18. Hello everyone: I agree, just stay off the gluten. We know our bodies best and what works and what does not. And ideagirl, please know that about 15 years ago I was told I didn't have celiac (a disease I had never heard of) because it was rare. Even though the blood test showed I did. The doctor also told me I had IBS and a lot of people on the board...
  19. Diane: That is so odd, the same thing is going on with me. My doctor thinks I am nuts. I have a hard time believing it is related to the celiac though. Mine is pressure in my chest, it never goes away. My heart beats so fast and I am so tired. Mine seems to be related to eating and drinking? It's so bad that I have been eating just one meal a day...
  20. Diane: I don't know, the same thing has been happening to me since December. I have been poked and prodded so much I feel like a human pin cushion. So far, the doctor hasn't been able to find out what is wrong. The pressure in my chest is awful and my pulse rate is about 114 continually. It feels like all the years the doctors and finally even myself...
  21. I had a positive blood and biopsy for celiac. I had gone to the doctor about 15 years ago and he told me the blood showed a "rare" disease and he didn't think I had it. I wasted all those years thinking I had IBS and was causing it myself. Only when I got so sick I didn't think I was going to make it any longer did I go back to the doctor. By then, they...
  22. Hi bklyn: I don't see prilosec on the gluten-free medication list. You might want to check any medications you are taking to be sure they are gluten free. Sally

  25. I have had a hard time puting on weight also. I initally lost about 30 pounds and have only put on five since finding out I have celiac about 2 years ago. It seems so much of the gluten-free foods are low calorie. The last couple of weeks I have also been eating peanut butter and drinking ensure and I have put on a little over 5 pounds. I mixed the ensure...
