  1. She's adorable!
  2. Chrissy I am glad you are better. Try this recipe. I got it off a gluten free cooking site. I hope you like it! Ingredients: 90g (3oz) butter 1 cup brown sugar 4 1/2 cups gluten-free cornflakes 1 cup mixed nuts (or your choice), roughly chopped 1 large egg, lightly beaten 1 cup dessicated coconut 90g (3oz) glace cherries, halved 90g (3oz)...
  3. The problem Holgate is that studies have shown that you can have a lot of damage done inside without knowing there is anything wrong even ingesting a small amount of gluten. I would be very careful with this. I just don't trust that train of thought, but wish you the best!
  4. I just had to share this. I went to an Outback restaurant and they actually had a gluten-free menu. I had shrimp, salad, garlic mashed potato's, steak and topped it off with a gluten-free brownie with ice cream, whipping cream and choc. sauce. I felt like a kid at Christmas. It's the first time I have been able to go somewhere and order from a gluten...
  5. Kaiti: So I am guessing it's a specific test they use to check for celiac disease. I wonder why they don't test everyone? Is it expensive or do they still think it's a rare disorder? I am just curious about why it takes so long to diagnose? It seems like it would be wonderful if they could find it earlier, before there are so many complications. I...
  6. I meant guy, guess I should use that preview post!
  7. I thought I should give all of you an update. A gut I went to high school with recently made contact. Anyway, he knew through my mom that I had celiac disease and took it upon himself to research the disease. So far other than bringing me dry roasted sunflower seeds he has done really well with it. Initally, he was afraid to take me out to eat but that...
  8. I agree with you Abby. In Italy they test every child by the time they are six, or so I have read. If they tested everyone here it would save a lot of needless pain and suffering. I think it must be something they have to look for specifically, and not something that would show up on a simple CBC panel. Does anybody know the answer to that?
  9. Abby: I think with this disease we have to be our own doctors. I think they don't know that much because they once considered it so rare. I wonder how much they even studied it in med school. My hope is that as more people are diagnosed with it the more information the doctors will have and then be able to help people. I'll never forget when the docoor...
  10. Hi Kaiti: What was the link that went to the site that had the gluten-free lotions etc.?
  11. Peaches: I hadn't considered that lotion, make-up, lipsticks etc. could have gluten until I read one of Kaiti's posts. But it makes sense that gluten could get in our bodies that way. I am just now learning about these items, like I said I had never even considered it. I think Kaiti has a post that links to a site that has gluten-free products.
  12. Ok, I see celiac3270 it's an ingredent that is gluten-free. Makes sense. Kind of like what you said!
  13. shoefly21: I wish you the best of luck. I remember how awful all those years of doctor's telling me it was all in my head was, how I actually started believing that maybe it was. That I was somehow making myself sick and I didn't know why. Well, I was making myself sick from eating. It was such a relief to finally know what was wrong and that I wasn...
  14. Hi Roxyk: I just wondered if you got pregnant yet? I thought I would share with you what happened to me. I didn't know about the celiac at the time, but I couldn't get pregnant. I took clomid for 2 1/2 years and finally when we decided to stop taking it because it was putting way to much pressure on us I got pregnant. When she was a year old we decided...
  15. I have used the McCormick's without a problem. (taco seasoning)
  16. Hi Berneses: It's not on my gluten-free list. I know what you mean about calling companies. I had called to see if Fosomax was gluten-free before it was on our list as ok, and I spoke with a scientist who didn't know what gluten was. I just wanted to warn you about my experience with wellbutrin, I took it for about 2 weeks and I just got really angry...
  17. Thanks Roo! I never thought about that, I'll give it a try
