  1. Hello, just wanted to say welcome and I hope you are feeling well soon. I'm new here too, I was just diagnosed on August 25. I'm lucky I don't have the symptoms many people here have, but I still most definitley have celiac disease. The lists are great, and I use them myself. However, I must caution you to keep the source in mind if they are American...
  2. There is a few Macaroni Grills in Canada I think, I know I ate at the one in Vancouver years ago, guess I won't be going there anymore Oh well, I'd rather have a steak and baked potato anyhow! LOL! Bellinis are awesome, I sure hope I can find out if they are gluten-free! I am very happy hockey is back, I have a crush on Miikka Kiprusoff, lol.
  3. The best Bellini's come from Milestone's, but I don't go to the one here since it is at the airport. Earl's makes a killer Bellini but I will have to ask them first exactly what is in it. We don't have a Macaroni Grill here. Yes, I do live in Canada. The Smirnoff label reads "Carbonated water, Smirnoff vodka, sugar, natural and artificial flavours,...
  4. I was diagnosed through bloodwork I had done as a screen since my sister was diagnosed last winter. I had no physical symptoms. I did get the scope. Even though I knew the bloodwork was pretty accurate, in the absence of symptoms, I needed to know for sure and also know how bad the damage was. I have been on the diet for a month now, I feel exactly the...
  5. Well I am jealous because I love horses but I am hideously allergic to them!!! Try the N-95 mask by 3M. You can buy it at home stores and it fits great. We all had to get fitted for them at work in case there is a SARS outbreak or super flu or something, and we actually had these sensors and stuff in them to see what we were inhaling. My mask fit so well...
  6. I guess I have been really lucky because my GP has been great about this since the start. She didn't think I had celiac disease when I asked for the first test (neither did I), but agreed it was probably a reasonable request given my sis has celiac disease. When it came back +, she told me straight up that she didn't really know what to advise someone like...
  7. Nope, I totally agree. Though at least here in Canada we can claim the additional cost of gluten free food on our taxes. I have been keeping track of my gluten-free food and saving the bills, but it is very time consuming to figure out the price difference because it is more than just sticker price. I also note the weight of the package so I can make a...
  8. Anyone know if a Bellini is ok?? YUMMY! It has peach schnaps in it, champagne, rum and I think champagne. It's like a big orange electric slurpee!! I have some Smirnoff Vodka coolers in my fridge and I plan to drink them one of these days, the lable looks ok, they are just the original flavour (lemon).
  9. This is how I was diagnosed. My sister was symptomatic and got tested. I got tested because I'm her sister and found out I have it too. I never would have been tested otherwise because I don't have any symptoms. I just go to show that even family members who do not have ANY symptoms should be screened. I don't think it's necessary to rush out and do...
  10. I actually had a very well educated person say to me "pasta's got wheat in it??

    ARCHIVED Skin Care

    I use Clinique Different Lipstick
  12. Sorry, those are Canadian Smarties I was referring to! Says "wheat" right on the box!
  13. Karen posted a great list under the Halloween is Coming thread.....all the gluten-free candy there is, and there is still a ton!
  14. Thanks Karen, what an awesome list! Still so many yummy goodies to chose from! Of course it's Murphy's Law that my faves (Smarties and KitKat) are not gluten-free!!!!!
  15. It's been years since I had it done, but I personally didn't enjoy it much. They prick your skin then put the allergen on it. That is not the painful part, just a tiny prick. But if you react, like I did, the itching is horrible. and of course you can't touch it because you might transmit the allergens between poke sites or even worse, get it in your mouth...

    ARCHIVED Skin Care

You sound like me 4 weeks ago. Even though I knew the endo would come back positive, I still felt like I'd been smacked upside the head, so here's a ((hug)) for you. I have tossed all the cosmetics that I thought might get in my mouth. Like my facial scrub and moisturizer and stuff like that. My lipstick is ok. So far, I'm still using my old shampoo...
  17. Honestly, I don't know, but I was told to keep eating "normally" while waiting for my scope. I don't have any physical symptoms, (I had + bloodwork), so I called it my farewell tour and visited all my favourite restaraunts and ate all my favourite gluten loaded foods. I figured if I was going down, may as well go down in flames!! No really, indeterminate...
  18. Your 3rd ex??? There must be a story there I only have one ex, best 200lb I ever lost, lol.
  19. Kris, it must be so hard to keep track of what everyone is doing! My 2 girls just got negative test results back today and I was sooo happy, I'm sorry things did not work out that way for your boys. While I think there are far worse things to have than celiac disease, it is just such a worry to think about what might be going into them when we aren't there...
  20. I know they might test positive at some later point in life, but for now, both my babies are NEGATIVE for antiendomysial and transglutimase is normal. Did you hear that??? That is a big fat NEGATIVE!!! I didn't know how stressed I was until the doctor said those words and I just started bawling. I was sure at least one would be positive, cuz they called...
  21. OMG, I'm so lame, I just am dying with jealousy that you ate a BURGER!!!!!! Seriously though, I totally sympathize with the allergies. Basically one side or the other of my nose is totally blocked with swelling every day of my life. I'm a total mouth breather and people are always asking me if I have a cold. I'm worse when it rains, probably due to...
  22. ((Hugs)) Laurel. Sounds like more of an ordeal than a celebration. I'm sure your friends and the server didn't intend to sound so flippant, but I agree that it is hard to just keep smiling while you are dying on the inside. I pretend it doesn't bother me (like if I say 'oh that pasta looks good, I'm sure you'll enjoy it") when really I just wonder if I...
  23. Not sure, but I suffer from hayfever and have for years. I was skin tested about 15 years ago and found I am allergic to every species of tree and grass that grows around here, plus the usual pollens, molds, and dust mites etc. I am also extremely sensitive to fur-bearing critters, I can hardly breathe in the presence of a dog. I am also allergic to a lot...
  24. Alright nettiebeads, why on earth would you even want to eat a raw egg yolk?? I have similar issues with some fruits. Any sort of fruit that has a pit in it (think cherries, peaches, nectarines, etc) gives me hives all over my mouth and makes the mucosa of my mouth very itcy and feel weird if I eat them raw. However, I can eat any of these fruits...
