  1. I remember this being talked about several months ago. All I remember is that certain theaters had certain suppliers, and some had gluten-free stuff and some didn't. Maybe if you post with the name of the Theater (Regal, Century, whatever) someone will know, or you can do a search on that. Nancy
  2. I'm not a yogurt eater myself, so I'm not sure about yogurt in general. But yes, natural flavorings is one of the places gluten can be "hidden" in any product. When I'm not sure about a product, I do a search on this board. Most questions about products have been asked at one time or another. I checked and I'm not seeing anything about yoplait,. ...

    ARCHIVED Had My Appt Today..

As much as you want some answers sometimes, it's always scary when that kind of stuff is coming up for sure. Nervous is normal. But he's taking you seriously and hopefully, he'll be able to give you some definitive answers after it's over. Nancy
  4. I've been wondering about this too. I've got an Enterolab test kit on the way for my daughter. I've been tossing back and forth between what's more important; an official diagnosis so that I won't get any *($# from anyone in my family for putting my daughter on a gluten-free diet, or being able to keep her under the radar just in case our insurance gets...
  5. I can't STAND the phone. I hate calling about anything. Thank GOD for the internet and email. I also have a thing where I hate even going to get the mail. I always look to make sure none of my neighbors are out there before I go. It's not that I can't say Hi. It's just that if I say hi, and they say hi, then what are you supposed to say next? ...
  6. In addition to all the good advice here, you should really look into the possibility of your husbands having Testosterone Deficiency. My husband has it. He's 36, and has pretty much always had it. We dated in high school and he was never trying to "jump me" like other guys. I just thought he was nice. Turns out he just wasn't fighting the surging hormones...
  7. Excellent plan mommida! Nancy
  8. Oh my GOSH!!!! I LOVE her!!! I read her blog every once in a while, but not lately. I can hardly wait!!!! Nancy
  9. It could also have been a commercial for a show or special coming up in the fall? Hopefully someone will see it again. As much as I watch the food network, I only saw a commercial for Guy Fieri's new show twice I think. I tried to find an email address for food network, but they say that they get so much mail that they ask you to email the individual...
  10. Rachel, that's awesome information. I always heard that some people were just susceptible. That makes MUCH better sense. It's good to know that once the immune system improves, it shouldn't come back. Nancy
  11. Yea, I'm a Food Network junkie too. I was thinking about writing them too to suggest either a program or a special. I was thinking about a program for food allergies and health issues in general, addressing a different one each week maybe. Or successive, in-depth, one hour specials on health issues that diet plays a part of; celiac, casein, diabetes...
  12. As far as my experience goes, candida and celiac are two seperate things. I've had candida off and on for years. Mostly off, thank goodness. Threelac is the way to go. It's worth every penny and more. You don't even have to modify your diet to use it. Nancy
  13. Yea, you all are right. My daughter is such a picky eater that I was just crossing my fingers that it wouldn't surface for a couple more years. But then there was a post a week or so ago where one of our members thought her young daughter who would only eat veggies (I think that was it) might have a gluten problem. We all gave her some just regular mommy...
  14. Thanks for the continuing posts. My appt isn't until this Friday, so keep them coming. And any time more are added, I'll keep bringing them to her. She is the head of her counseling business and has two or three other counselors working for her. She also goes to my church, and you know how fast information travels in a church. Now that I think of it...
  15. That's awesome!!! I have been thinking that it can't be too long before someone over there is either diagnosed or has a friend or relative who is diagnosed. What did the lady look like? If it's a regular host, I might be able to figure out who it is. Nancy
  16. It still blows me away that school starts now the beginning of August. When I was in school, we didn't go back until after Labor Day. Ugh. Nancy
  17. I've been wondering about that kind of stuff myself. The only thing I completely trust to wash my hands is soap and water. I happened to read an article a few years ago about how cleaners work, and it said that basically the soap loosens the dirt from the surface you're cleaning so that it doesn't stick to it anymore and can be rinsed or wiped away. The...
  18. It has been addressed in a few other posts actually. But I read the article every time because it's just too darn exciting!!! Even if THIS particular thing doesn't work, I'm sure it will bring us further down the path to something working. Nancy
  19. Thanks everyone for your stories. I'm hoping to put celiac and food intolerances in the front of her mind, as well as hypoglycemia, which my stepmother has. Thanks ravenwood for reminding me that GI symptoms aren't always present. Sillyactsue, I just want to give you a hug. You've been through so much. It must have been a hard decision, and a long...
  20. I have a new counselor I'm seeing, and was telling her about celiac and how much better my depression/anxiety/insomnia/nightmares/brain fog had gotten after going gluten-free. I told her that if she has any other patients who have psych problems along with IBS, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, etc., that she may want to address the possibility. Then she...
  21. I'm surprisingly upset about this, considering what a God-send finding out about celiac has been for me personally. My daughter just turned 4, so she has been potty trained for a while now. I'm not even involved in the process anymore, if you know what I mean. The whole time I was involved in the process, everything looked normal. A few weeks ago...
  22. I found it all really distasteful once I figured out what it was doing to me. I did one gluten-free day, just to see if I was barking up the right tree. After that, I had a hard time even making myself eat anything with gluten in it. It was like trying to make myself put my hand in hot oil or something. Pure, instinctual avoidance of pain. I ended...
  23. I agree. It sounds like you're in the right place here. Welcome, and I hope you start feeling better soon. Nancy
  24. Susan- Emotional cutting. That's a good way to put it. And I'm the same way you are, I'd never treat anyone as bad as I treated myself. I did the same thing with alcohol for a while there when it was really bad. A glass of wine or two makes it so much easier to fall asleep. I didn't like going down that road (who does?) and found that good research...

    ARCHIVED Introduction

Hi Robb, I've experience an extreme loss of appetite. Before I figured out the celiac, I was ravenously hungry, and ate constantly. Once I went gluten-free back in January, it was like someone flipped a switch and my appetite disappeared. I had a bunch of mixups with my insurance and referrals and ended up throwing in the towel and going gluten-free...
