  1. Oh please keep us posted!!!!!!!
  2. After trying some REALLY bad ones, I settled on Hodgson Mill brown rice penne and I'm really happy with it.
  3. I have to say that I was MUCH more comfortable at Outback Steakhouse and Pizzeria Uno's than I was at Applebee's. I walked out of Applebee's after speaking with the manager because I just didn't feel safe enough.
  4. Wish I lived there! Nothing like that here. Have fun!
  5. Just to add to this, my neice was diagnosed via bloodwork and her parents took her to a GI who said, "I want to do an endoscopy to see the level of damage. Then we can see how much gluten she can eat." WHAT?!? I was practically screaming at my brother in law when he told me that. I said, "SHE CAN'T HAVE GLUTEN!" They are going to another GI now. Ridiculous...
  6. I was diagnosed at the end of April and have had some tooth pain. Went to the dentist and nothing is wrong, but somehow the gluten was making my teeth hurt (I don't know if that makes sense.) Since being gluten free I have not had the pain except for one oopsie of cross contamination. It's so crazy how we are all effected SO differently. Yes, use the...
  7. You're welcome - hope it helped
  8. Please keep us posted - I hope the new doctor has more insight for you and is at least more responsive. I should also mention that I have Hypothyroid disease as well - have had that for 16 years - and it often gives me palpitations - sometimes to the point where I feel like my heart is going beat right out of my chest. So as pricklypear mentioned, make...
  9. I'm sorry I don't have much to offer you. I was diagnosed about two months ago and I haven't had the same symptoms, but my doctor also doesn't think I've had it for very long. The best advice I can think to give you is weed things out slowly and see what your reactions are. I do know that oftentimes people are ultra sensitive to lactose and red wine vinegars...
  10. Happy to be the guinea pig. I will report back.
  11. Good for you! (as I echo cyclinglady) I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment getting through a social occasion unscathed. One of my coworkers is retiring and we're going a pot luck for her - so I'm bringing gluten free chicken taquitos from Trader Joe's (they love them in my office - don't even realize theyre gluten free) and gluten free cupcakes...
  12. I've seen some of those lists - but GASP, did you say gluten free licorice? Have you tried it? Is it good? I'm so excited LOL
  13. The sausage is listed at the top, but the other deli meats are farther down the list.
  14. A little googling never hurts I found this site Open Original Shared Link
  15. Just thought that instead of griping (for once) I would state something that I'm thankful for. I am SO thankful that Swedish Fish are gluten free. I used to love Twizzlers and Red Vines, gluten and more gluten. So thank you Swedish Fish for letting me get my gummie candy fix!! Have a great day all!
  16. I agree with mamaw -- "I would ask for the thyroid panel not just the TSH, B-12, Vitamin D, A1c, glucose, lipid panel, & CBC for sure...." Also make sure they check your Folic Acid. My nutritionist told me that Celiac could cause a deficiency. Good luck!!
  17. I have been addicted to the Cocoa Pebbles. LOVE that they are gluten free. Been eating them in the morning for the last two weeks and NO problems. YAY!
  18. I too ALWAYS call ahead. As stated in the post above - I would have caused one hell of a scene myself. My entire career has been in customer service to I take exception to being treated badly and I let them know it, and in some cases I also let the district manager and corporate offices know it as well. When I dine out I don't typically mention Celiac...
  19. My family is supoprtive thankfully, but I've been getting some comments at work. I will say this though - my mom was like that when I was diagnosed with hypo thyroid disease about 16 years ago. She was telling me it was all in my head. I just had to ignore it and keep moving. Bottom line is, it's YOUR health - so do whatever YOU have to do to stay healthy...
  20. Welcome! I'm fairly new at this myself - 8 weeks into Celiac diagnosis. I can tell you that within a few days I had no more stomach cramping and nausea (but my symptoms were not as severe as yours are.) I am still experiencing some mild symptoms two months later, but they're almost gone. Everyone's body has a different time table. Good luck! And...
  21. The rotisserie chicken is gluten free, and so are the mesquite bbq wings. I have to say, that although they don't keep a list, when you call the 800 number and give them the item # they can tell you very quickly id something is gluten free or not.
  22. I haven't tried it - but I'm certainly willing. If anyone has a good recipe I'm game
  23. Thank you both. Yes, I agree, much better to have a diagnosis. Thankfully for me, no permanent villi damage - just have to wait to heal. This site has been a godsend - a place to vent and get answers and support from others like me. I know my niece's mom will get lots of help here as well.
  24. One of the first things I did (after I joined this page) was see a nutritionist. She told me exactly which deficiencies my doctors should be testing for and gave me lots of great info. Definitely check out the links people have given you above, and buy the Cecelia's Marketplace Gluten Free shopping guide (it's in the newbie thread) - that book has proven...
