  1. Sounds a lot like mine and my son's. Let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow.
  2. Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers. What a calming, reassuring group of members on this forum - you continue to amaze and reassure me - 12 months since joining. The little guy is home and they are working on a plan for treatment. Mum is being strong (relative), realistic but still hoping for a good outcome.
  3. I was overweight my whole life. Always been an itchy scratchy person, GI and nerve problems got pretty bad before gluten free. In hindsight I think I was lucky that I couldn't afford specialists. I've managed to avoid all the incidents that have upset you so. I am now comfortable with the fact that I'll be undiagnosed for life. It takes a bit of quiet contemplation...
  4. I thought I'd post because it puts all in perspective. My stepdad (as much my dad as my own) called tonight and his grandson has an aggressive brain tumor. 18 months old. His surgery last week went okay and he has been recovering well. I guess we all thought that things were going well. Who would have thought that the tumor was a terror??? His prognosis is...
  5. From what I have read Aqua Phor is petroleum based. I personally would not use it or recommend it. DH is a mysterious beast and pretty much anything foreign (un-natural) as petroleum I avoid. Let us know how your appointment goes on Tuesday. What does your rash look like?
  6. Hi Razzle, Tell us more about your rash and your history. Any recommendations are appreciated. Your history and how you came to be here on this forum are of interest to all of us. You only have to tell us what you want/need!
  7. It sure looks like my DH.I trawled through 1000's of medical/derm website pictures in my first few months and I don't care what anyone says.. it doesn't look like anything else, even scabies. The time it looks like scabies is when we & them have sratched them all to pieces when its been a very bad case of either. So unless you had those big bubbly lesions...
  8. Open Original Shared Link This is a guide I've used to keep a track of sulphites. Given that I eat very little processed food and I am iodine and sals low I tend to avoid them naturally. My sals reaction is definitely cumulative like other posters have stated. The longer gluten free the less intense my DH reaction to sals - unless I go overboard. I...
  9. Sugar is evil wrt losing weight. Are you avoiding it, even in your tea/coffee?

  11. Corn was the key to taking me down the salicylates path (and thankful to all on here that led me there:). Salicylates (sals for short) are a bit of a minefield but after a few months now I feel like I'm getting a handle on it. Here is another hard with sals. Most of the healthy saturated fats that rosetapper mentions in the previous post are high in sals...
  12. Your palm looks a lot like mine did but at the moment mine is a little further into the healing stage. You've obviously scratched it as much as I did mine! I also get DH on the face, most commonly on the chin and forehead around the hair line in particular. But they show up all over me. The only place I haven't had them is the soles of my feet (touch wood...
  13. I'm restricted - no gluten, corn (and loads of other high salicylate foods) which takes out most gluten free foods. It is the cheapest grocery ever. Buy whatever meat is cheapest/discounted and store in user friendly portions in the freezer. Same with veg/fruit. Buy the specials. The only processed food I can tolerate is rice crackers (only plain/original...
  14. Fabry is a new one for me so I will google to learn a bit more about it. You have been such a contributor especially in my early days with my own problems! One more hurdle but eventually the hurdles must end or at least get lower in height - hopefully not at 71. Another condition to add to my/our "chicken or egg - which came first" (ie what is the underlying...
  15. Perhaps avoid dairy and the lactaid. Perhaps your dairy intolerance is more serious than a lactaid can help???
  16. Preschool, kindy, primary school, high school, (this is where it seems to become more significant:) college, university, workplace. When she decides it was something decided for her when she was young and experiments with 'cheating'. If she considers joining the military. Other experienced mum/dads can probably add to the list.
  17. If you were digesting gluten then actually you should consider here gluten intake as being 9months +. We are what we eat. I am not medical scientist but if alcohol effects a baby during pregnancy and is born with those effects why would gluten be any different if gluten is the poison rather than alcohol.
  18. What a lovely articulate bunch you all are!! Writing was never my thing I work from the technical/maths brain so here is my list: 1. Drink lots of water. You'll need to as your body adapts to its new eating habits. Keeps you feeling full when it seems that only a slice or two of bread or pasta will do the job. 2. Lots of fruit and veg. In the early...
  19. And take out MSG along with the other posters suggestions. I am about 99% free of processed foods and I believe it is what has made the biggest difference. Takes out all the junk and chemicals and chances of cross contamination
  20. Please never apologise for the length of your post. We are here to help one another and the best way to do that is with information, as much of it as possible. I've bolded your post in the places where my experience matches yours. Hope it helps to help affirm your self-diagnosis. I am 39y/o, mother, self-diagnosed, dermatitis herpetiformis (DH), and lots...
  21. I just had a quick read about DID and for our other members you might be interested (experienced) with some of these. We use the term 'brainfog' to describe many of these similar things. I've bolded the ones that I can related to. Current memory loss of everyday events Depersonalization Depression Derealization Disruption of identity characterized...
  22. You have to get a letter from at least one of those specialist stating (at least) that she is gluten intolerant. You'll need it later in childhood. She will need it later in life - unless you/she is willing to take on the potential nightmare of a long (months) gluten challenge to get a diagnosis through bloods and endoscopy. At sometime down the road...
  23. Many of us have additional intolerances. Have you researched/tested for salicylates and/or nightshades? Keep a diary and then post us how things are going. The "other intolerances" threads have been very, very useful for me recognise my salicylate intolerance.
  24. 1) If gluten only damages the villi, how can occasionally being glutened cause so much discomfort? I'm not one of the technical types on here but I should give a bit more of my experience here.. I've had Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH) in some form all my life (in hindsight) but head-to-toe since I quit working at a bakery 12 months ago. I have always...
  25. Number One: NEVER apologise for long posts on this forum. The more information the less questions we need to ask you and the more information/advice posters can give you. Number Two: I am a 39 y/o disliker of boy bands but The Wanted's "All Time Low" is my current favourite song. I was glutened a couple of days ago after 7 (yes SEVEN totally gluten free...
