Hi, Welcome. There is Cafe Baldo in Wantagh, Mamma's in Oakdale --both offer Italian food. Outback in Oceanside, Merrick & Westbury, PF Chang's in Westbury. I live near Cafe Baldo, it is pretty good. The owner has Celiac for over 27 years and is very helpful and understanding. They make a great Chicken Marsala and they have gluten-free pizza...
  2. Thank you CarlaB you are right. I do not have any intention of leaving the Catholic Church. I just want to safely participate in receiving Communion especially on the day my son receives his first Communion. I am going to have my own chalice and receive in that form. I don't feel comfortable with the low gluten hosts. Thank you everyone for all your...
  3. Hi, How much magnesium do you take daily? I think too much can cause the big D. Thanks, Donna
  4. You and your class will be in my and my classes thought s and prayers too. It is truly an honor to help prepare these children for their First Communion. I feel totally blessed.
  5. I have three class left before their First Communion. We are all excited. I enjoyed this year so much that I'm going to do it again next year.
  6. Thank you Lisa for your understanding in this matter. I just want to safely participate with my son and my class. I think I will pass on the low gluten hosts and go with the seperate chalice if I am permitted to do so. Thanks again. Donna
  7. I am very aware that I can receive either the wine or the host. I just wanted to receive the host if it was safe. I really like your Chalice idea. I'm going to ask if this can be done for me when my son receives his first Communion. I did mention to the priest about the cup and cc but he did not suggest the seperate chalice. I'll let him know that...
  8. I had only one and had some pretty bad gas pain from it. I also had a break out from it. I will no longer drink this beer. I'll stick to my Margarettas.
  9. Thanks CarlaB for the link. I think I'll look into getting my own calice if my Church allows it. My oldest son is making his First Communion next month and I taught his class. I really want to participate in this special day. Has anyone tried the low gluten host? I don't think I want to take the chance and ruin my son's day. Donna
  10. I belong to a Catholic Church. I told a priest about my Celiac disease and wanted to know if he could offer me a gluten-free host. I was told that Protestant Churches wil give those with celiac disease a rice host. My Church sent me a letter stating they can only offer me a low gluten communion host. I guess they don't care if I or others with celiac...
  11. That is GREAT to hear. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Thanks for all the great suggestions. I really appreciate it. I'm going to have Irish Soda Bread for St. Pat's day. YEAH! I'm going to go out today and buy the Gluten Free Pantry mix and try it. It is so easy to make great tasting breads and cakes with these mixes. I can't believe that I never saw the recipe on the box. I use their mixes all the...
  13. St. Patrick's day is next week and I still can't find a recipe for gluten-free Irish Soda Bread. I used to love to make this with my grandmother when I was a kid. I really miss it this time of year. Does anyone have a recipe they would like to share? Thank you. Donna
  14. Hi, In the begining I did eat products that were processed on equipment that also processes wheat and I did not notice any reaction. Now 2 1/2 years gluten-free, I can not tolerate it at all. I carefully read labels to avoid this. I have a pretty bad reaction to these items now and stay far far away. Everyone is different. Some people are more sensitive...
  15. I have been watching and enjoying this show since season two. My kids are also into it. They want to vote and they're only 7, 4, and 2. I'm a fan of Kelly Clarkson but I never watched her on Idol. I wish I had. I think so far that Blake and Nick Pedro are doing well. I hope tonite's show is better. To many slow songs last night.
  16. Thanks for all the votes of confidence and great ideas. We are all looking forward to our trip. I bought the gluten-free dining guide to bring along on our trip this way I'll where we can eat state to state. We do have a video game system and dvd to bring. What would we ever do without those. Thanks again for all the ideas. Donna
  17. I'm going to visit my parents outside of Tampa in Sun City Center. They don't think the kids will want to be in the car for long periods of time. They are 2, 4, and 7. We have gone to Pennsylvania without a problem, but that was only 5 hours in the car. They can watch movies and play video games and sleep. I can't afford to fly so that is why we are...
  18. I will be driving from ny to Florida with my husband and three children. We plan to do it all in two days. My family thinks it can't be done with the kids in two days. Has anyone tried this before? Where is a good place to stop overnight? Thanks for your input. Donna

  22. This sounds great. I thought SOY SAUCE WAS not gluten-free.
  23. Today I bought a box of Jo-Sef's gluten-free Linzer cookies. They have to be the best gluten-free cookies I ever had. I bought them at Dr. B Well's in Plainview, Long Island. Nine small cookies for 4.99 and well worth it. They have a web site too. Open Original Shared Link
