  1. So awesome to see! What a blessing it is to find your health again!
  2. Very interesting! The nexium does ave those little balls! I'll be popping mine open soon! Thanks for the info! I started taking carafate for peptic ulcers due to h.pylori, then went back on it for my bile reflux. I can't tell if its helping or not : /
  3. I've tried every over the counter H2 blocker, too weak. I didn't realize flare ups were normal, so that helps. I guess this is not going to go away, I was hoping my diet was going to be the answer to my GERD. Thanks for your reply!
  4. I've been on various PPI's since 2009. I've been on nexium continuously since 2012. My dr says my endoscopy showed "mild reflux" but I can't get off of this medicine! I've been gluten-free now for 13 months, and noticed my reflux isn't near as bad as it used to be. When I first went gluten-free, I was able to wean to 20mg every other day. Slowly it got worse...
  5. Sorry you're feeling so terrible, hope you get answers soon! First, it is not all in your head!! We've all heard that more than once, unfortunately. I know others will comment with more info and helpful links, but I'll try to help out. 1. NCGS is diagnosed when celiac is ruled out and you are certain gluten is your issue. It is different because it does...
  6. Udi's dinner roll was yucky to say the least. Anyone have a favorite roll recipe? I see plenty recipes on Pinterest, but am not too saavy on gluten-free baking (mixing flours). I'm also tired of wasting money on prepackaged mixes or frozen items that aren't good. Any idea on where to start? I'm dying for a hot, soft roll... Drool...
  7. Beef veggie soup with a buttered Udi's dinner roll, with Christmas music in the background while my girls and I decorate for the fall. Yep, a good day indeed.
  8. I don't believe he did, we both just took a chance. I've never seen corn chips that had gluten, so I assumed I was clear there. I have successfully added small amounts of dairy back, so I thought I was good there, too. Poor judgement, there.
  9. I became incredibly weak while at a WWE event with the kiddos. I sent my hubs on a snack mission and he found a stand that sold only nachos. So being desperate, I told him to buy them for me. 2 days later and I'm having symptoms. I know I shouldn't have, but thought the cheese and chips were safe. Does stadium cheese usually contain flour? I know it was...
  10. Sorry I haven't responded... Some people take days, weeks, even months to heal after a gluten exposure. I sure hope you haven't developed a sensitivity to oats! I love oats, but have to space out how often I eat them. I get sick if I eat too much. I sure hope you feel better soon! ((Hugs))
  11. My thoughts exactly, Ruth!! It's been, and still is, a learning first year for me. Year 2 has got to be better!
  12. I also thought tortillas were glutening me. Turned out I am sensitive to corn! It took eliminating foods and reintroducing them to figure that out. It took some adjusting since many gluten-free products are corn based. I can eat small amounts, but when I don't pay attention, BIG sick!!
  13. Most importantly, you need to be eating gluten before being tested so the tests will be accurate. You have two months, so eat up plenty glutenous foods! (Have a donut for me!!) Those reactions do sound like an intolerance whether it be celiac or NCGS. I have a 1-2 day delay in reactions when I'm glutened. The third day is always my worst day. I, too,...
  14. I don't think a challenge would do that. It does sound like you may have an allergy to wheat. Definitely check that out!! It may just be taking a little while to work its way out of your system.
  15. I'm not sure i understand. Are you celiac or are you suspecting a gluten intolerance? Many celiacs are intolerant to other foods until our guts heal, sometimes we never can tolerate some foods other than gluten. Maybe try a whole foods diet, then add some processed foods like cereals back in and see if you have symptoms. You'll see if its gluten or additives...
  16. That is a very nice perk!! I'm waiting for my perk, I know it's out there, lol.
  17. Looks like you're double DQ2 which is the highest risk. Glad you know!!
  18. Also, some companies only report the beta units and don't test the alpha chain. They may not have tested it and are reporting only the beta units they found.
  19. That looks like two beta units. To be positive for a gene, you have to have an alpha and beta unit. For dq2, the alpha code is 0501 or 0505. The beta units are 0201 or 0202. You may have two half genes. Call the company that did your test and have them tell you two chains and explain it. I had mine explained to me, then did some insane research because...
  20. Heterozygous means one copy of the gene. Homozygous is two copies (higher risk). If they didnt mention the alpha chain, he's probably only positive for the beta, half of the gene. Heterozygous dq2 does have a lower risk than homozygous, and a half heterodimer is even lower. https://www.celiac.com/articles/21628/1/Celiac-Disease-Genetics/Page1.html This...
  21. Barley is an ingredient! I had been using it for a week or so before I read the ingredients. Learned to not assume anything, lol.
  22. My clinique dramatically different moisturizer! I had that all over my face, lol.
  23. I find that I don't tolerate hard liquor anymore. I feel drained, nauseated, and anxious even after one drink. I stick to wine and ciders, that's it for me!
  24. I never had D, but C. I now get D if I am glutened. My reflux was much stronger, I was bloated, tired, and grumpy. I noticed my hair started growing back after going gluten-free. I lost at least half of my volume I guess when the disease started. My nails are stronger, too. My anxiety went waaaaay down after going gluten-free too!
  25. I've been gluten-free for a year now. My damage at dx was only marsh 1. So not much, should be healed, right?! I was hit with cc on Tuesday and symptoms started Wednesday. I ate a couple salads throughout the week (one on monday, one on tuesday, and one on thursday)and on Friday I pooped whole lettuce! It looked like I chewed it up and spit in the toilet...
