  1. That sounds good! I just made them into ice cream sandwiches tonight
  2. OMGawd Sills--read it and weep I just had an ice cream sandwich made outta 2 chocolate chips cookies and Graeter's vanilla ice cream. Me happy
  3. Hi and welcome! You really need to freeze most gluten-free breads, as you are discovering . I slice and freeze right after the bread cools off from baking.
  4. Ugh...a new doctor is in order, one who's not on an ego trip Keep us posted on Skeeter, Jan-it, she is one of our own Why is it that having someone visit somehow gives me a phree ticket to eat everything that isn't nailed down? I haven't worked out in 3 days and can nae stay out of the cookies....and crackers....and cheese.....it's a regular...
  5. I made Betty Crocker gluten-free Chocolate Chip cookies last night--they were fantastic! I used a tablespoon of vanilla instead of the teaspoon called for. I'd tried the brownies and yellow cake, but the cookies were my favorite. Back to the topic.....I tried to like Lundberg Farms Hot Rice cereal, but it tastes like plaster.
  6. I like Roben Ryberg's cookbooks too. Ingredients are simple and easy to find and all of the recipes I've tried have turned out nicely. I bought "The Gluten Free Kitchen" close to 5 years ago, and I still refer to it.
  7. I don't know, Richard. I called them about a different product, and the rep told me about the cottage cheese. She said they had just found out about it--this was probably 3-4 weeks ago at most.
  8. I was told the same thing recently--apparently they now use barley in processing. It wasn't always this way, so there are probably old lists out there that are out of date.
  9. That's terrible--I'm so sorry A person who would do that to you is not worth your time, family or no.
  10. Poiphect title! Happy Sunday mornin sills!! Hope Nik is waking up to a warm and snuggly Mum's day.
  11. I totally agree with all the advice given by Shroom and Jess. Sometimes after being gluten-free for a time, we can become (or discover) other intolerances. Jimmy Dean sausage is fine--I eat it regularly. Most toothpaste is perfectly safe. Certainly Colgate and Crest which are readily available.
  12. This is so wonderful, Soozle!!!! This sounds perfect for you! I'm just taking BC chocolate chip cookies out of the oven......smells so good in here
  13. Shroom Yes--the best of luck to her! I can't even imagine..... Glad Laura has some insight fer ya, Jan-it. Yer in good hands Sadly, true dat Happy Mum's Day tomorrow, Nik!! It's great havin the boy here! Hi Sooz--I've been MIA but so happy to see you posting!! <snort> I have...
  14. Shroom--I have had my Kitchen Aid for about 20 years. It still looks and functions like new. I love it and wouldn't be without it. I have a nice Cuisinart Food Processor and don't use it nearly as much as the Kitchen Aid.
  15. I had a terrible problem with them before I was gluten-free. Now, I almost never get them--I do if glutened but they are not nearly as bad as they used to be.
  16. Thanks for the heads-up! I love their crackers and I see the breadsticks when I'm picking up a box and have thought about trying them.
  17. Hi Molly!!! Congrats
  18. You poor thing Like Ravenwood said, Pepto helps. I also will use Immodium to slow down the D and cramping. I'm never without that. Sipping hot mint tea is also soothing. Get as much rest as you can and I hope it passes soon--take care
  19. I was having odd "pain" in that area, saw the gyn, (all looked ok) and could not for the life of me figure out what was going on. I tried food elimination and when I stopped walnuts (which I did eat a lot of), it went completely away and has not returned. Needless to say, I have not had another walnut. Princess Hungry, maybe also you might try an...
  20. Like most things Celiac, the fry issue is so individual. I'm pretty sensitive so there are many, many things that are deemed "safe for Celiacs" that others can eat that I can't. The official word on McD's is that the final product is gluten-free. That does not mean that no Celiacs will react to them. No one can give a guarantee like that. We all have...
  21. Because symptom improvement on the gluten-free diet is a valid diagnostic tool in and of itself, I would say that, coupled with the positive testing, that yes-- it would be safe to assume.
  22. There are other causes of injured/flattened villi but they are more rare. They would include: Cows Milk Protein Intolerance Soy Protein Intolerance Refractory Sprue Collagenous Sprue Immunodefiency Synodromes Mediterranean lymphoma Intestinal ulceration Gastroenteritis Intractable Diarrhoea of Infancy Protein Calorie Malnutrition Kwashiorkor...
  23. Wendy's fries are free of gluten provided they are cooked in a separate fryer away from breaded items. Many Wendy's have dedicated fryers for fries, but not all of them. We have to ask each time. It should also be noted that there is a very high possibility of cross contamination at a fast food restaurant.
  24. I love Glutino's Crackers.
