  10. Wow--just saw this old post of mine. Update: I had my cholesterol tested last summer and was shocked to see that in 2 years it had gone up to 305! My bad cholesterol was up also. I managed to lower the total number to 212 by February of this year by cutting down on full fat dairy, fatty meats like bacon, and sugar. I began taking Citrical...
  11. I second Grandma Ferndon's if you can get them. The best gluten-free buns I've had. I'd bet your kids would love them. Sidenote--her cinnamon rolls are to die for.
  12. Don't I know it....things used to be so simple Way too much fer me pea brain to compute sometimes
  13. Hee! I pheel very empowered now! of course an hour ago I was close to losing it... About Skeeter, Jan-it--I also sort of go through a re-booting, so to speak--after a gluten reaction. I missed what she was eating that got her, but if she ate it over and over (not realizing) it might just be her system getting back to normal slowly. I don't vomit...
  14. I was planning to respond, but ciavyn said exactly what I was going to say. I would be incensed that my child should have to put up with such treatment so as to keep the peace. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do--and please keep us posted.
  15. So jealous about the Udi's! My Whole Foods has their complete line--looks so good but I'm really intolerant to tapioca. Gives me the worst stomach pain and a oddly dry mouth Ugh....drenched in sweat ....all of a sudden the TV and internet stopped working this afternoon. I know how to re-boot the TV, no prob, but I couldn't get the internet to...
  16. Hi and welcome to the board! Yes, many find that they become more sensitive to smaller amounts of gluten the longer they are gluten-free. As for the other sensitivities--you may find that after forgoing them for a period of time, say 6 months to a year, he may be able to tolerate them again. The only way to tell is to try a little. Of course, any...
  17. Lundberg is good and made on dedicated equipment the last I checked.
  18. What a terrible thing to do. My kids are grown, but I think what this teacher did was unconscionable and that the principal and the board of education should have done more than given her a talking to--albeit a "long" one. I would go over the principal's head on this. It's bad enough when the people close to us crack jokes and don't take the condition...
  19. Mornin' sills..... Thinking about Em and wee Charles this morning. Gloomy day here today--drizzle that is supposed to continue through the weekend. Ah well, we've had a spectacular run lately--80 during the day and cool nights. Yes, WIH is Jan-it?? Am I going to have to go over to FB and phind her? Ok then.....(tumbleweeds....)
  20. Thought maybe we could all use a phunny story..... A SHORT LOVE STORY A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a Trans-continental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both...
  21. No soy in the ingredients, but a "may contain traces of soy" warning. Ingredients: white rice flour, sugar, potato starch, sodium bicarbonate, xanthan gum, salt, sodium acid pyrophosphate, monocalcium phosphate.
  22. I know this is too late for your party, but I make a very simple pineapple upside-down cake with Gluten Free Pantry Cake and Cookie Mix. It's a bit denser than other white cake mixes but with the butter, brown sugar, and pineapple to moisten it, it's perfect for this. You can make it dairy free by using water (or pineapple juice from the can, which...
  23. Could very well be I also react to carrageenan--a long time ago here on the board, someone suggested that it could be a problem for me since at that time I was using a lot of almond milk (Pacific) as you are now. As soon as I stopped the almond milk, I felt much better. This is probably not related, but I continued eating almonds with no problems...
  24. Em, I'm so awfully sorry to hear this. I know how happy Charlie was to have you all and vice-verse. It just doesn't seem fair Please keep us posted, and I hope that the call you get from the vet is, if not great news, better than what is feared. (((hug)))
  25. True dat! Just thinking about all those hours I spent watching something I didn't "get" makes me pheel like an idiot. Alls I can say is the finale better be good.....or at the very least, make sense <giggle> So, this phake Wen--does it contain wheat too? I'd love to try Wen but it would surely make me sick
