  1. I use only gluten-free topical products, and I'd use this.
  2. Hi Cybele and welcome! Unfortunately, a few days back on gluten won't be enough for the tests to come back accurately. The rule of thumb is to consume the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread a day for 3-4 months prior to testing for Celiac. If you had intestinal damage, 6 months was likely enough time to heal to the point where the blood testing or an...
  3. Nik!!! :D Did any of yer sillie come back?
  4. I want me own town like Bevvie has!! :D
  5. Twas good! I did me time on the treadmill this morning, though The town we lived in in New Jersey does this. Santa would be riding on top waving. Not here yet.....
  6. The Claritin is pretty helpful for the runny nose--it tends to dry things up. The Nasacort helps me more with the eustachian tube dysfunction and congestion.
  7. <snort> on the thread title--I'm a big Mark Chestnutt fan Could be any of those things, honestly. The salad bar could have had some CC going on--that would be my first guess, and you may not have fully healed from the last glutening. Truthfully, I use Immodium in a case like this. It calms things down and stops the D--I always keep a box in...
  8. ....reporting on the dessert I'm about to have. Betty Crocker gluten-free brownie (still warm) topped wif Blue Bell Peppermint ice cream.
  9. Good luck with it all--let us know how you do
  10. Homemaker, I hope you feel better soon! What a thing to go through I don't know if there's a connection between the two conditions, but from what I read here it seems that it's not at all unusual for Celiacs to have problems with their gall bladder.
  11. I'm thinking that Em is having a good, stiff drink before taking a look out in the garage..... Anywho.....I talked to the birthday goil, Judith a little while ago. I told her about all of the good wishes here and on da book--she was very touched and wanted me to thank all o'youse. She's still not able to be on-line much, but hopes to be again in the...
  12. Well that was quick, Em....didn't she just get there yesterday, er sumphin?? Oye.....
  13. I have this and have been diagnosed by an ENT as having chronic allergic rhinitis. I don't believe that it's a symptom of Celiac, but my doctor said that they tend to see these kinds of things with their Celiac patients. I have problems with runny nose, eustachian tube issues, watery/itchy eyes. Probably a separate issue, but I also have a few food intolerances...
  14. I know that quite a few theaters have gluten-free popcorn--the safest thing to do would be to call the one you plan to attend. That said, I make my own homemade popcorn to take with me. I pop it in light olive oil and sprinkle with a little sea salt--much healthier than what you get in the theater--gluten-free or not. No one has ever said anything...
  15. Yes! Tis a special kind of calm Have phun, Jan-it!! Saphe travels The roads outta be clean by the time you get there.
  16. Be strong, my friend, be strong.... and lock up the car keys
  17. Ya know, when you think about it, that would be a very efficient way to go..... So glad The Skeetster is done wif the treatment--meant to ask about that but the head is a sieve lately. Jess--I wish I lived closer to you....I love a challenge Just ask me kids Anywho, sounds like both of youse are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...
  18. There's a great recommendation if I've ever heard one!
  19. The low-gluten host would be fine if you don't react to them. You may find, however, that the longer you are gluten-free, the more sensitive you become. (this doesn't happen to everyone, but it can happen) You could speak to your priest again and ask if you could buy a small chalice and have it there for your use only.
  20. Glad you figured it out! Best of health to you
  21. Best of luck with it, Joyce, and definitely let us know how you do. Happy Holidays!!
  22. I use potato starch--you could also use a rice flour mix of whatever you bake with. I like a mix of white rice flour, sweet rice flour, potato starch, and cornstarch. You could substitute tapioca starch for the cornstarch. I do 1 cup rice flour/1/2 cup potato starch/1/2 cup cornstarch.
  23. I had the Urea Breath Test to check for ulcers--it's quick and easy and you get the results quickly. A gastroenterologist (actually his nurse) administered mine. I would give your doctor a call--no point in speculating
