ARCHIVED Am I Insane?
jerseyangel replied to jnclelland's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Jeanne I don't blame you for being curious. I know that Ursula did some challenges on herself a while back and posted the results. Good luck with whatever you do--let us know -
ARCHIVED Tazorac Cream - Anyone Ever Use This?
jerseyangel replied to DingoGirl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Celia-- I like the bird--it grew on me After all, we're twins--I might have an identity crisis -
Hi Ruth It could be the chick peas! They are part of a group of foods called lectins (as are wheat, eggs, beans, soy and peanuts) The have both protein and carbohydrates and some folks are intolerant to one or all of the lectins. I, at least at the present time, am intolerant to lectins. The flour you used would affect me the same way. Here is some...

ARCHIVED M&m's? & Question About Hershey Kisses W/ Peanut Butter In Them
jerseyangel replied to Turtle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called about the M&M's 2-3 weeks ago for another member. Nothing had changed, the crispy ones were the only ones with gluten--the rest are fine. As far as Hershey--they will clearly list any gluten ingredients on the label--they won't hide anything. If you call during business hours and speak to a person, they will even go over the ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Rachelville 2
jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I use a night guard, and have left it at that. My sister went the same route as you are--she had to have teeth pulled, wore the appliance, and then the braces. She had a lot of dizziness as well. It's all connected. It will lessen as time goes on -
ARCHIVED Rachelville 2
jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Carla--Dizziness is most definately a TMJ disfunction symptom. It was one of my main ones--and the ENT who diagnosed me said I was a "classic case". Since yours is now exagerated somewhat by the device you are wearing, it makes sense that your dizziness is getting worse. I would lay down for a while, and see if that helps. -
ARCHIVED Would You Eat This?
jerseyangel replied to emcmaster's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm ultra sensitive, and I've not had a problem with Kraft (or Oscar Mayer, for that matter). If it's not clearly stated on the label, it's not in there. -

ARCHIVED Tazorac Cream - Anyone Ever Use This?
jerseyangel replied to DingoGirl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yes, Celia and Armetta--we are in the same boat. I turned 50 this year, and combined with the rapid weight and hair loss of last year, I look, to myself, like I've aged a lot. Lots of little things, but they add up, if you know what I mean! I will say, though, that we are our own worst critics I'm working on being accepting of the changes, at... -

OMG Susan!!!! Now you went and did it Have any idea what you are gonna say when he does get a hold of you? This could get interesting. Since I've always liked him as a singer, can I now say I kinda know him because my friend Susan used to date him? Oh and Celia--I'm doing laundry, too! Spooky -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
This made me laugh! Ener-g was the second bread that I tried--after Food For Life! The combination of those two were just about enough to swear me off bread forever Turns out, I needn't have worried, as I'm sensitive to the main ingredients in all breads! -

jerseyangel replied to RKB-MD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Call it IBS, additional food intolerance or a touchy digestive sysyem--I continue to have problems over a year after beginning the gluten-free diet. I almost never eat out (2 times since), bring my own homecooked food on trips, don't eat processed food at all anymore and cook or prepare everything I put in my mouth. I wouldn't think of touching... -

Hi Russ and welcome! Hopefully we can all learn from each other Since I've never liked Mexican food , and don't really drink alcohol much, all I can comment on are the bananas. They're not a "cure" for a gluten reaction--but they do help. When I've been glutened (always by cross contamination), I go to bananas and mashed potatoes. I... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Recently, there was another thread about smoking and Celiac. I posted there that during the years that I smoked (16-24), I don't remember having any stomach issues at all. That was a carefree time for me--eating at restaurants and whatever I wanted. I had energy and could work all day and go out till the bars closed! I had stomach issues as a child... -

jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Celia-- If it's not the warm-liquid thing, I'm thinking it must have something to do with the caffeine--a lot of people use coffee in the morning to help "move things along". The acid part is interesting. Coffee is way too acid for me--I could never tolerate it, not even when I was younger. Sounds like there's something about it that your system... -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
jerseyangel replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thank you Rachel--that was very well-put and heartfelt. As someone who's been on the thread from the first few pages, I agree totally. I've had my fun here, like everyone else. No denying that. But, recently I've found it increasingly difficult to even focus on the many pages per day to respond the way I wanted. Seriously, my brain can't handle... -

ARCHIVED New Grist Beer & Hershey Syrup
jerseyangel replied to faegan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Congrats on the beer! Hershey's Syrup is gluten-free. Hershey's is a company that will clearly list gluten in the ingredients. -
Hi Lorka I have a cat who eats food that contains gluten. He's 14, and I don't want to change his food at this stage. I have never had a problem with this. We use dry food--my husband transfers the food from the bag into a Rubbermaid cereal container with a flip-down lid (he does this out on our deck). Most mornings, my son feed the cat, but...

ARCHIVED Do You Ever Just Want To Try It Again?
jerseyangel replied to KayJay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have to admit, I do wonder what would happen! Having said that, if it came down to it, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to actually eat gluten on purpose. I'm chicken! Too sick for too long
