  1. hey everyone

Im posting because i need some ideas for new snacks. I have a mid-morning snack and an afternoon snack. Usually i will have a piece of fruit, rice bar (like a granola bar), or turkey and crackers. I am so0o0 bored of this. I cannot eat nuts, chocolate, or yogurt, so those snack ideas are out. What else can i have? Is there any gluten-free products that makes quick&tasty snacks on the go (since i work with children and cannot sit down to have a luxury snack) Any tips, comments, or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

  2. Hey everyone,,,,just wanted to share my new snack I have just discovered :D . They are called Healthy Delite and can be found in stores like Mrs. Greens, Stew Leonards,,,but i buy them online at www.yummydelights.com. Healthy delite are chips that are baked from real vegetables that are dehydrated. They also have apple chips. They have mixed veggies in a bag or jar, sweet potato, red onions, carrots, celery, taro, ect. The only bad thing is they are a little expensive  , Price:$1.59 a bag, and about $4 a jar. I bought like 30 bags and it cost like 50something once shipping was included, but it was at my house in 5 days. So they are really good and healthy for you too. Check out yummydelights website,,,and also www.healthydelite.com to learn more about their products. They are now producing bags that say gluten-free right on the bag! They are yummy :P . let me know what you guys think if you are going to purchase them.

  3. Hi Nicole,,,

Sorry your son going through this, especially at such a young age. I was first diagnosed with IBS, then later on gluten intolerance (biopsy was neg for celiac but blood says yes) Still on the gluten-free diet, i go through stomach problems. I get bouts of constipation, bloating & distention almost everyday, some days still black circle around my eyes....i dont have any great advice,,,but perhaps a different diet...there is one for ibs,,,,my doctor told me that there is really nothing people with ibs can do except see what foods are related to this triggers/symptoms...and you son is too young for ibs meds...i hope your son finds relief soon.

  4. Yes, Risotteria is very good! There pizza is so close to the real thing. I also love babycakes, its a bakery. I usually go to lunch at risotterias and go to babycakes for dessert- they are not too far away from each other.

  6. Hey all, wrote to Chili's asking about their menu and if they cater to celiacs and they wrote back:

anyone have a suggestion as to a good gluten free baking recipe for me to start out with----something that is more likely to work out for a first-time gluten free baker? i hate to discourage myself right off the bat with a baking failure.LOL!! i have "the gluten free gourmet bakes bread" and "the gluten free gourmet cooks fast and healthy" and my sister loaned me "gluten free 101".

    christine

    Hey Christine,

Just made brownies using Gluten Free Pantry Chocolate truffle brownie mix and it was easy and delicious! Taste like the real thing. I actually made my family pillsbury and gluten-free brownies and asked them to taste both to see if they can tell the difference and they couldnt! Gluten free pantry baking mixes can be ordered online or you can buy them in whole foods, Mrs. Greens, or my stop-n-stop even had the mixes. They are eazy to make and delicious. Heard the ch/chip mix is good too.hope you try -n- enjoy

  9. You have to try their chocolate dipped donuts- if you like chocolate. They taste like the real thing. I love them although I do have a low tolerance for chocolate products. Also the montana chocolate chip cookies are yummy- the best ch/chip cookies I tasted so far- and I tried a lot  The bread products are also the best out there. Hope you enjjoy

I'm sure some or most of you have come to this crossroad, so I have some questions:

    1. Have you had any side effects on Zelnorm?

    2. Do you know if you depend on this drug to go the bathroom, does it make it worse when you go off of the pill?

    3. Is it like every other laxitive that eventually, you need to "up" the dose?

    4. If you haven't taken it, and had the option to, why didn't you?

    5. If you do take it, do you think it helps? Are there any bad aspects of it that you have noticed?

    6. Anything else you might want to add about this drug?

Thanks guys! Even though I'm going to the suposed expert of Celiac Disease, I know I can always depend on this forum to give me honest, helpful and "real" answers, more than any doctor.

    1. I been taking Zelnorm for a few months and did not run into any side effects. The one day I do take it, my stomch feels a little bloated and once in a while i might get diarrehia, but I feel its worth it.

    2. This question is hard. I took it for a few months and then i stopped. A few weeks later I was constipated, so I went back on. I have now been on Zelnorm for about 5 mo, but there still are times where I get constipation "episodes".

    3. Actually I "down" the dose. I was taking it 3x a week, then I went to 2x a week, and now I take it only once a week and it seems to help me throughout the week.

    4. The reason I got off of it for a little bit bc I was scared bc it is a new drug. And on the directions it says to only take it for 2-4 months (i think) and my doc has me taking for much longer than that- so I am a little skeptical about it

The first time you take Zelnorm beaware bc you might have diarrehia for the first 3/4 x you take it. Dont get scared b/c it will go away (your body needs to get used to it) and you will take normal bowel movements several times that day.

My advice is to take the pill on a day where you can be home, like a sunday.

    hope this helps-renee

  11. Hello,

I take Zelnorm and it has helped my constipation. I only take it once a week (6mg) because taking it everyday was too much for my stomach. I would suggest that you talk to your doctor for his advice and proper dosage (because it is different for everybody and has different kinds of effects). Also I am not sure if it would be bad to take with your history of stomach sx. But it is worth bringing it up to your doc

  12. Hello Every one

Well, New Years is coming up, and I haven't had any alcohol since my diagnose. I have a few questions and would appreciate it if you guys can help out. Is all wine gluten free? (if not can suggest some that are) How about rum and vodkas? One of my favorite drinks is Malibu Bay Breeze (yes i am a fruity drinker) which contains Malibu® coconut rum, cranberry juice, & pineapple juice. Would that drink be considered gluten-free? Also, are fruit juices gluten-free? Sorry for all the questions, but new years is coming soon and I just want to prepare.

Has anyone had reactions to alcoholic drinks, not because of gluten issues, but because their stomachs were too sensitive. Thanks for all your support - renee
