  1. Georgie, that is a great website. But my free T3 and T4 levels were tested on top of the TSH. And both were right in the middle of normal. They were saying that those T3 and T4 levels were what determined if you have a thyroid problem or not. If my temperature won't rise, and I don't get better, I'll mention it to my doctor. He only really started treating...
  2. Oh, still, wavy is nice, too. Yeah, Armetta, what's a DA? Oh, to my new Avatar: My son is not short (6 feet), my daughter-in-law is tall!
  3. Vincent, I LOVE curly hair! That's the only good thing my husband gave the kids, their curls . Only one daughter (go figure, the one who is just like him) has my straight hair. My son has longish, curly hair and looks so nice! I agree with Carla, why don't you have it like Timothy (except for the gorgeous red colour, of course )?
  4. Susan, I agree, do NOT go on the pill, it will not help, seriously. It will only mess you up more. Vincent, I think you would look awsome with that suggested style. Go for REALLY different, no half-hearted decisions allowed if you decide to come here!
  5. Well, I sleep quite well (unless I have awful nightmares, which happens sometimes). Too bad that when I wake up I feel almost as exhausted as when I go to bed, even after I sleep for eight to ten hours! But if I get less sleep than nine hours, I really, really can't function at all. I do wake up sometimes because of awful hot flashes. It really isn't helpful...
  6. Well, Jerry, you really have your diagnosis already. Food that contains gluten makes you sick. Period. It's perfectly obvious. How much proof do you need? So, quit being dumb, and go gluten-free for heaven's sake! Seriously, we don't want you to get really sick with cancer, or adrenal fatigue (which is where Carla and I are at) or a host of other...
  7. Okay, I got all my test results back (except for the vitamin D, it takes longer for some reason). Here are the values: Fasting glucose: 5.0, normal 3.6 - 6.0 Creatinine: 74, normal 50 - 100 eGFR: 77, Can't figure out what it says, but appears to be normal Bilirubin...
  8. Lynne, somebody started a thread last year to see how many of us had our gallbladder out. And wow, it is VERY common to have gallstones with celiac disease! Even some people in their early thirties (if I remember right) had gallbladder surgery already. So, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if that is a big part of your problem. Keep us posted.
  9. It's two guys, jestgar is a guy, too! Loved the video, brought tears to my eyes.
  10. Susan, do you have a web cam? Or, do you have a normal camera and a scanner? You could take a picture of yourself......Susie (my 14-year-old) does it all the time, just holds the camera out with one arm.......don't know how she manages, but takes nice pics of herself that way (you know, narcissistic teenagers ). A few years ago I had my hair cut, hated...
  11. Carla, it isn't brainfog, I've had that forever. It's something entirely different, something very weird.
  12. Happy Birthday, Ian! That reminds me, it's my favourite brother's birthday today, too, I better call him (he is in Germany).
  13. Thanks, Carla, I agree with you. I am waiting for more bloodwork to come in today, I am seeing my naturopath this afternoon. I had four vials of blood taken last Friday, and the lab didn't do all the ordered bloodwork, due to 'insufficient blood'. So, had to go back in on Tuesday to have more taken to do the FSH, Free T4, vitamin B12 and vitamin D. This...
  14. My waking up temperature is only 95.54 Fahrenheit (35.3 Celsius), and within an hour climbs to 97.34 F (36.3 C) every day. When I have a 'normal' temperature, it's because I am sick, and I feel dreadful.
  15. After initially losing the water that has been swelling you up (which accounts for the rapid weight loss at the beginning, which you may not get, since you were gluten-free already), it would be VERY unhealthy, possibly dangerous, to lose more than about two pounds a week. And you are ready to give up after only four days? If you haven't lost any weight...
  16. Maybe she won't eat because eating gives her a tummy ache? She needs meat to get iron. If she doesn't get enough protein and iron, her brain can't develop properly. Do you think she might eat if you set out some food on a small kid's table with chairs? I know my grandchildren love sitting at their own little table. Then, instead of you trying to get...
  17. Hi Pete, and welcome to this board. As the others said, it is very likely that you have celiac disease, too. And there are gluten-free beers, pizzas and pasta out there. Even if you test negative with your kit, you should not assume you don't have celiac disease. If it is negative, you should either keep eating gluten and go after formal testing with a...
  18. What do you eat last thing at night? If it's high in carbs/sugar, it could cause problems. Try protein instead. It helps me fall asleep and stay asleep, and won't cause me to feel sick in the morning. I also can't go to bed before 11:00 PM. If I do because of exhaustion, I will fall asleep, only to be wide awake around 3:00 AM, and I can't go back to sleep...
  19. Open Original Shared Link Jeepster, Katherine is right, skip breakfast, and take your breakfast with you to be eaten at break time, if that would work better.
  20. Tracey, I agree with Katherine, it might be best to keep Emma at home. Children that age won't understand what it means to contaminate another kid with celiac disease. They touch everything and everybody, hug and even possibly kiss each other. And Emma herself probably won't be careful enough herself, she is too little for that. I don't think Kindergarten...
  21. Oh, honest mistake, eh? What a lame excuse!
  22. Oh no, how many other guys are lurking in the shadows, reading this thread? You better go find yourself some other entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I agree with Vincent here, please do find yourself a new doctor! Ophelia, the allergy medication you're taking for environmental allergies WON'T be effective for food intolerances. You really have to avoid eating them. Your doctor is even more clueless than I thought! Good grief. I forgot to mention that you also need to check all your personal...
  24. I am glad you had a great vacation. Too bad you now probably have to throw out all your opened gluten-free food and buy new stuff. I hope you and your kids will feel fine soon.
  25. Hi Ophelia, and welcome to this board. Well, your doctor is as clueless as they come! And of course you're right. Having celiac disease means being gluten-free for life. And yes, eating gluten as a person with celiac disease IS life threatening. Because you'll be malnourished as a result of malabsorption of essential nutrients, which leads to all kinds...
