  1. My chiropractor will have people on a plan, if they have chronic problems, like me and my youngest daughter. By paying six months or a year in advance, you get a better deal and pay less in the end. Many of his patients pay as they go, though. He charges adults $29.95 for single appointments, and students $19.95. Susie pays $15.00 for each adjustment on a...
  2. Jacob, I hear that if a man is anemic, he should be tested for celiac disease, as it's often the culprit. There are many reasons for a woman to be anemic, but it is always a red flag for a man, that something is very seriously wrong. My daughter told me, that one of her friends has celiac disease. When her neighbour (a man) told her he was anemic, she...
  3. I just want to say that this website is so completely, totally off base, with what it says, that it makes me angry. Quackwatch is not to be trusted, these people will try to make anybody look bad who actually tries to heal people naturally, rather than covering up symptoms with pharmaceuticals. I saw a chiropractor many years ago who is a total quack...
  4. Okay, this is my opinion. It is very possible that the Sushi was the culprit. It is also possible that it wasn't a glutening at all. The itchy throat is something I get when I eat something I'm allergic to. Gluten won't cause it for me. What I'm saying is, that your daughter might be allergic to something other than gluten, that was in the sushi. Since...
  5. Kristen, you need to remember that plain meat, vegetables, fruits, spices (not mixes necessarily), herbs, nuts, seeds are all naturally gluten-free. Those are the things you want to start with, not replacements for junky gluten foods! I agree, buy yourself some gluten-free cook books, experiment, make up some recipes of your own, have fun with it! It...
  6. That's right, celiac disease is NOT an allergy, and won't show up on allergy testing. Sometimes people are allergic to wheat or gluten, which would then show up. But that is not the same as celiac disease.
  7. Joy, switch doctors, this one is clueless. Welcome to this board! First of all, you probably have other intolerances, unless you're not 100% gluten-free. You probably need to eliminate all dairy as well as gluten. Have you had your thyroid checked? Your iron and vitamins? Lots of things could be wrong. You may be suffering from anemia, adrenal fatigue...
  8. Julianne, I had the same symptoms as you until last year, when suddenly (while doing a bowel cleanse, which apparently put me over the edge) I got the 'classic' celiac disease symptoms. Still, I was gaining weight! Even during the six months with chronic, watery diarrhea I was still gaining. My doctor didn't test me, because she thought that since I...
  9. Okay, Vincent, here's my two cents on this topic. I have one son and two grandsons (four and two). My son refused to even try potty training until two weeks before he turned three, and then was just trained. My older grandson needed lots of encouragement (especially in the form of candy ). This is what I did with all my kids: When they started showing...
  10. His belly button was eliminated when he was being sewed up after surgery.
  11. Ouch, I have to try to laugh quietly, so I won't wake up my family. But this one is a killer! Well, this was when I started having terrible symptoms (and ended up in the ER that night, because we thougth I had a heart attack, and was told, after five hours it was 'only bad stomach and bowel cramps, and I was just fine and could go home' ). I had...
  12. Yes, I found them amusing, too. Good entertainment when you can't sleep, anyway. Nancy, you're too funny.
  13. Aha, yes, I thought that they were all supposed to be true. However, I checked out the babies and kneecaps one, and while they're not ossified until the age you quoted, they are there nevertheless. Here is a link to verify my claim: Open Original Shared Link
  14. Hi Elfkin. Sorry you're a bit discouraged right now. Your life sounds stressful. Are you able to place an order with your gluten-free store, and have your husband (or a friend or other trusted person) pick it up? Cooking meals in your crockpot is an excellent idea. You can get it all ready at night, put it into the fridge, and turn it on in the...
  15. Alice, if it's possible for you to see Dr. Green, that might be a good idea. On the other hand, with your two tests being negative, you may be gluten intolerant rather than have celiac disease, which would show on the Enterolab tests. Of course, the fastest (but also expensive route) is Enterolab, as you don't have to wait for an appointment. Right, IBS...
  16. You know, last year while I was sick, EVERYTHING would go through me undigested, even cooked vegetables, never mind hard pills. You sure sound like celiac disease might be a problem. In fact, going gluten-free may fix your pre-diabetes problems without any medication. Personally, I would not worry about insulin resistance until you've figured out if you're...
  17. Loraleena, try seeing a naturopath, regular GPs appear to not recognize adrenal fatigue as a valid health concern. It sounds like you may have adrenal fatigue on top of the hashimotos.
  18. Georgie, I think taking cortisone for adrenals is a huge mistake, and will burn them out more, instead of fixing them. I have no intentions of going that route. I really don't believe I have a problem with my thyroid. Sometimes the thyroid isn't functioning right, because the adrenals aren't doing their job. At this point I believe that getting my adrenals...
  19. If you're sure that gluten isn't the problem, it must be another intolerance rearing it's ugly head. It could be dairy, or soy. Or other lectins (check the link in my signature). Rice, potatoes and eggs, as well as any grains, will also give me D. You may have to do an elimination diet to find the culprit. I have my doubts the GI will be much help in this...
  20. Well, the good thing about you looking at the pics of your intestine is, that it's easier to accept when you've seen it with your own eyes. You now know how bad it looks, and will want to fix it. I am sorry about your liver not functioning right, I hope something can be done about it, and your doctor can figure out exactly what the problem is. I hope...
  21. Hair loss could also be caused by thyroid problems. I am just throwing that in, so it won't be overlooked.
  22. I have been put on a supplement/medicine by Genestra Brands called TAD+ 301, Vitamin-Mineral + Adrenal Supplement. It has Vitamin A, C, all the B vitamins, Pantothenic Acid, Zinc, and Adrenal and Spleen Concentrates (Freeze-dried New Zealand Bovine), as well as Wild Yam and Licorice. It is hypoallergenic, and is guaranteed not to contain starch, sugar...
  23. How would you know if you have nodules? I definitely don't have a goiter. My B12 is 830 (normal is over 150). And my ferretin is right now 105 (which is the optimal level). Low temperatures can also be a sign of adrenal fatigue. I will keep all this in mind, but for now I am concentrating on fixing my adrenals. Right now my only big problem is low energy...
  24. Antibodies for what? I am not sure I know what you're talking about. My white blood cells are just barely in the normal range (4.2, when 4 to 11 is normal), which I thought may indicate a problem, but the doctor says he isn't concerned about that, claims it isn't a problem at all.
  25. My health has been poor from the age of three. So, I have no idea what it feels like to be well. As a result of being ill so long (and abuse on top of that, plus a low stress threshhold due to Asperger syndrome), my adrenals are burned out, so I have zero energy right now. I hope that I can answer the question about whether I feel much worse when glutened...
