  1. I am a night owl, my circadian rythm is definitely different from your average morning person. It has been shown that people who are true night owls have a very low body temperature early in the morning, making them sluggish and hard to get along with. The body temperature rises throughout the day, being highest around evening, when they're at their best...
  2. ..........your favourite grocery store is determined by having a public bathroom. And you hope nobody knows it was you who made it smell so bad. .........you risk being caught speeding, because you have to get home to go to the bathroom in time. ........you educate your doctor and nutritionist, instead of them educating you. .........you...
  3. Ah, I see, it's a matter of, "I don't care what you call me, as long as you call me!". Thanks for clearing this up for me, though. I like the name Cecile (and yes, I certainly know how to pronounce it ).
  4. Well, Susan, I am afraid I haven't laughed this hard in ages, tears were just streaming down my face when I read about your hair disaster. So, even if maybe you look like a clown temporarily, you did a good deed by cheering me up. I can understand not wanting to answer the door, though. I was also thinking of Anne of Green Gables, I love that part...
  5. Wow, I got braces at 43, had them for three years, and an upper retainer for another year after that. It takes longer as an adult. Make sure you own a water-pik (or similar thing) instead of having to floss (flossing takes forever between braces, and is the most frustrating thing in the world), and an electric toothbrush. Those are life-savers when having...
  6. You know, it might not be connected to celiac disease. Lots of people get diarrhea when they are stressed or nervous. Or it might just be, that your intestines aren't healed well enough to handle stress. It is very possible (even likely) that you didn't gluten yourself at all. Not ALL gastro symptoms are caused by celiac disease! Try not to worry about...
  7. Aren't dreams like that crazy? You can't stop thinking about them. I get that sort of thing sometimes. Let's hope that your results won't be as confusing as that!
  8. Well, here you did your gluten challenge and didn't even mean to! I'm glad it gave you confirmation of definite gluten intolerance. But you better be more careful in the future!
  9. True, but the largest of them were plant eaters.
  10. Hi Georgie, and welcome to this board. You appear to have one of the more enlightened doctors (and believe me, they are far and in between), who understands that negative bloodwork for celiac disease can be a false negative. Or that celiac disease is only one manifestation of gluten intolerance. She is right, if you reacted badly to the gluten diet test...
  11. That's great! Are you celebrating?
  12. Isn't Woody Allan doing comedies? I HATE comedies, and never watch them. I like movies that have funny parts, as well as sad etc., you know, like real life. But I can't stand a movie that is supposed to be funny all the way through. One problem may be, that in movies I think parts are funny that others think are not, and when they're laughing I wonder...
  13. I want to add that at this point you're likely deficient in Vitamin D and magnesium as well. If you only take calcium, your body won't use it, magnesium and vitamin D are needed in the right proportions. Just sunshine won't be enough right now for enough vitamin D, you need to take a supplement that has calcium, magnesium and vitamin D in it. And extra vitamin...
  14. No, you're not crazy at all. Potatoes are one of my problem foods, and will cause the same symptoms you're having. After not eating them for about a year you may get away with having some about once a month again. I find that I can. But if I get carried away and eat them again the next day, I'll definitely have a problem. And of course, they used to be my...
  15. Actually, garlic is even better than onions in killing off yeast. You shouldn't go without carbs altogether. Make sure you eat lots of vegetables, and include ones that contain carbs, like rutabaga, carrots, squash etc. (potatoes are too starchy right now). Also, you shouldn't cut out all fruit. I think apples are still okay (in moderation). Are you doing...
  16. Some of my favourite movies are 'A Beautiful Mind', The Fugitive (with Harrison Ford, I love all movies with him), Sabrina (with Harrison Ford), The Witness (okay, you guessed who is starring ), Sarah Plain and Tall (with Glenn Close), Ben Hur, Spartacus, Exodus, The Patriot, Bambi ...............well, there are more, but I'll have to look at them to...
  17. Well, all the power to you with having your own food!
  18. I agree with rinne, why don't you try the gluten-free diet to see if it makes you feel better? The diet challenge is a valid diagnostic tool, too. Your symptoms could be caused by celiac disease, and the gluten-free diet is a healthy diet and can't hurt you.
  19. Hi Stacee, and welcome to this board. Unfortunately, I am not sure anybody else here is in China, so I won't be any help in that area, but just wanted to say hi and welcome you. Of course, you can still learn a lot here, connect with people and ask questions when you need help, or even if you just want to chat with other people who have celiac disease...
  20. Mike, yes, water allergy is very real. It is very rare, of course, but exists. It is called aquagenic urticaria. Here are some links to check it out: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Anyway, you can look it up yourself if you aren't satisfied with these. About 11,000 results came up with google on this...
  21. Sorry, I can't give you any specific advice on the bread itself, as I can't eat any bread at all. But why don't you contact the company that makes the bread? Either by calling the number on the package (if there is a number), or looking it up on the Internet and e-mailing them. If nobody complains about this problem, they won't know.
  22. Yuck, that doesn't sound nice. I'm glad the steroid shot helped some. Hope it will clear up quickly!
  23. Well, Victor Hugo (he wrote Les Miserables) said once, "Forty is the old age of youth, but fifty is the youth of old age". So there, that makes me young again, who wants to be forty! Now, if only I could get this ridiculous adrenal burnout under control and have some energy, I could believe it.
  24. Sarah, it looks like you get neurological symptoms from gluten, as well as the DH. Hopefully you will remember those before you knowingly eat gluten again (and give your husband a kick in the behind for me for bringing you a gluteny treat!).
