  1. Okay, looking at that schedule, and how careful you are supposed to be, including waiting for possible delayed reactions, it looks MUCH better! I don't believe any four-month-old baby should get any solids at all. Six months isn't too bad, but no child actually NEEDS food besides breast milk until 12 months old. That is when the internally stored iron...
  2. You could explain to her that since you have been through the learning curve for yourself, it will be so much easier for her, because she can benefit from what you already know. Therefore, there won't be as many mistakes, and eating out won't be a big problem, either. It sounds like you have an ally in your son, which is great.
  3. In fact, since you have the antibodies, your hypothyroidism is autoimmune and you should have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, I believe. Your TSH is worse than you may think, as in reality, labs in Canada are woefully outdated on their ranges. Most specialists in the U.S. now consider anything above 2 to be too high and indicating hypothyroidism...
  4. I understand what you are saying. I don't believe my youngest daughter (16) would have started the gluten-free diet without her Enterolab results being positive, and what really convinced her was her high malabsorption score. If her gluten antibodies were a 9, that is just below the 'official' limit, but still suggests a reaction. Would you be able...
  5. I suggest taking a homeopathic remedy called Nux Vomica instead of the Prilosec. One excellent enzyme is called Wobenzyme (there are others, but this is one of the best). I am not sure what to replace the Misoprostol with, but I am sure somebody else would know. I suggest seeing a naturopathic doctor, as they will have natural solutions to all your problems...
  6. It seems to me that it is possible that a low total IgA (even though it is officially still considered normal) could cause a false negative on the tTg IgA test. If your daughter has symptoms that could point to a gluten intolerance, I would try the gluten-free diet to see if it helps her health issues. If it does, then you have your answer, namely that...
  7. Scotty, those foods on that elimination diet should be okay, I think. But I totally disagree on the point that you noticed as well. You NEVER should reintroduce more than one questionable food every three days at the most. Because some foods will cause delayed reactions, which you would totally miss if you reintroduce, as they suggest, up to three foods...
  8. Good for you for staying on the diet. You know gluten makes you ill, and it is nobody's business what you eat or don't eat. I was never officially diagnosed, but know that gluten is terrible for me. I am a very blunt person, beating around the bush is foreign to me. So, I tell people straight out that I can't eat anything containing gluten, and will not...
  9. It seems to me that you have many obvious celiac disease symptoms, and they aren't so 'silent' in my opinion. If you don't care about an 'official' diagnosis, you could just start eating gluten-free, and I bet most, if not all, of those symptoms will go away. But if you want to have a biopsy, you will need to eat gluten until afterwards. Otherwise it...
  10. I think BOTH the above lists are way, way too many foods for a six-month-old! Heck, for four of my five kids I didn't introduce any solids until they were eight months old (and I fed my oldest solids earlier because I had a bad doctor and didn't know any better), and they didn't miss a thing. And even at eight months they didn't eat a lot of stuff, I introduced...
  11. You could try to find Kalas Classic Sea Salt. It is iodized, and definitely doesn't have dextrose. It is from Greece, my daughter bought it at Cosco. I am in Canada, and obviously don't know what you can get in the U.S. Hopefully somebody else has suggestions, too.
  12. Hi and welcome to these boards. Yes, your daughter sounds like an awful lot of kids with celiac disease. All her symptoms, including stunted growth and defiance, bed wetting etc. could be caused by celiac disease. By the way, so could her brother's ADHD, as ADHD is VERY common with celiac disease. Maybe, in order to simplify things (and maybe help both...
  13. Just for the record, I wasn't criticizing her for selling her book - she has the same right as everybody else to sell the books she writes! I just don't like that she charges more than twice of what you pay for her book elsewhere. If she would come right out with saying that if you pay another $15.00 you get three more books, that would be more honest, in...
  14. Why would they want somebody who is a pain in the butt when it comes to food? Unless you can offer them something amazing (like being an outstanding physicist or mechanic, for instance) I can't imagine they'd want you. I don't quite understand your reasoning. You say you 'prefer' not to eat gluten because of 'side effects' like skin rash and constipation...
  15. It is an excellent book and really shows people that gluten can cause a ton of illnesses, not just gastro symptoms. It is different from any other books on gluten I have read. BUT I can buy her book from amazon for Can $14.42 plus shipping, which is half of what she wants for it on her website. Meaning, that her so-called free books aren't so free after...
  16. I use Dove hair gel, and find it works great without making my hair stiff or sticky (which I'd hate). Even my very picky 16 year old daughter uses Dove gel.
  17. You are right that a fungal infection would definitely not respond to an antihistamine. It also wouldn't suddenly appear like that. I hope you didn't bother with that anti-fungal cream. It could have been that now you get a different reaction to gluten than you used to, or it could be a combination (maybe gluten and casein?), or something else you ate...
  18. Hi, and welcome to these boards. You sound like you are definitely gluten intolerant and should stay away from ALL gluten for good. No more cheeseburger, gyros or anything else with gluten! I highly doubt that your rash is fungal. You might as well stop that antifungal cream right now. Hydrocortisone cream might do some good, though. I believe you...
  19. Leslie, it is not at all unusual for people with celiac disease to also be intolerant to casein and soy. When you switch to a different kind of milk, don't use Rice Dream, as it is NOT gluten-free. It is processed with barley malt and contains a small amount of gluten. Unfortunately, with the new labeling laws, they can claim it is gluten-free because the...
  20. Yay, you must be so happy! Finally you can indulge in cooking all your favourites again.
  21. If she didn't wash the rim well enough, I suppose you could have been glutened by the glass.
  22. I've had a discharge forever, it seems. It got lighter when I sewed my own pantyliners out of flannel, as apparently even the non-scented pantyliners seem to cause a heavier discharge (making you buy more, I think it is intentional). But since I've been on a parasite cleanse (I'm on day 12), the discharge has completely stopped! I especially noticed the...
  23. You sound like you may have parasites in general (which includes candida). Check out this website: Open Original Shared Link
  24. I was in Ottawa again last weekend (yes, I've been travelling way too much lately, and I'm exhausted), and on my way back onto the highway on Sunday on my way to cousins in Pembroke I stopped by the Natural Foods store in Kanata (the part of Ottawa my daughter lives in), because it is very large and has an awesome, huge gluten-free section (the best I have...
  25. Hi, and welcome to these boards. I believe the general consensus on this board (due to experience) would be to NEVER trust any doctor to know ANYTHING. There are very few doctors who have a clue about celiac disease. So, yes, ask for any test you want done specifically, and in great detail. Because chances are your doctor won't know what he is doing. And...
