ARCHIVED Birth Control Question
zip2play replied to munchkinette's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can tell you that switching to the gluten free diet messed up my periods. I have been on the pill since 1990 (except when I was pregnant with my 2 children). I just went off last week. I went gluten free on 01/09/06 and I was spotting 2 weeks prior to my period. Any diet change can cause this. I am going to let things level off and see what happens... -
I never did bruise much, till the last few years. I am guessing that is when the Celiac was starting to cause it's problems! Monica

I have not knowingly cheated, but have only been doing this for about 2 months. But, I don't get severe symptoms. If I am at a restaurant, I order what I believe is gluten free, I even do homework before time. But I don't go on and on with the server or chef about proper gluten free cooking. Because I am not willing to do this, I don't eat out often....

ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
zip2play replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think there are probably as many of us that are overweight as there are ones that are underweight. Don't feel STUPID, get a new doctor and move on! Idiot is what he is! I have always read DH = Celiac too! Go gluten free and be done with that loser FOREVER! Monica We love ya here! -
It is my experience, as with anything that pertains to food, decisions are very personal. If I were you, I would offer up information to your siblings and then let it be. Your stongly suggesting they read that book may very well backfire. They wouldn't be the only Celiac people to go undiagnosed. It is a personal decision and if people fear the resutls...

SO what do you guys take for muscle pain?
-
Advils website in the inactive list of ingredients lists starch. Is this safe to take? I hurt my neck on Thursday, so I have been taking a lot of ibuprofen. Now my stomach is a mess??? Monica
-
I am not underweight. I am actually closer to NORMAL weight than I have ever been. Most of my life I have been overweight! To the tune of up to 50 pounds. Now I have about 10 pounds to lose! Monica

I am fine in the morning prior to eating. My overnight fasting bloodsugar levels are great. It is once I have eaten that causes me problems. For instance, if I ate a bowl of bran flakes and milk at 7:30 a.m., by 10:00, I would be sweaty and very shakey. I try to avoid sugar in the a.m. But if I am going to have a sweet treat, I have protein with it....

When I get the shakes, sweating and such, I have to have sugar, then protein must follow once I am in control. Interesting stuff! Monica

ARCHIVED Chest Pains And Burping ?
zip2play replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have experienced this too! Sometimes the pain is truly intense. Burping is the only thing that will help ease it. I have also taken GAS X before! Monica -
Chelsea did the cheese or egg help? When I have the shakes and such, SUGAR is the only thing that gets me stable. I have 2 children, I watch them really closely to see if they have issues. My DD is 4, I am almost sure she is going to be hypoglyemic and am wondering if I should have her tested for gluten issues. My bloodtest came back equivacal and...
-
Wow this is so interesting! I am the reactive hypoglycemia. I have not had a medical test to prove it, that isn't necessary. I try to couple all carbs with protein. In our house, even prior to gluten free diet, all meals are centered around protein! That helps a lot. When my Gluten symptoms were getting worse, my hypo. was out of control. I mean horrible...

Ok I was reading what everyone typically eats, so many of us noted hypoglycemia! I am hypoglycemic and have been all my life. I can remember as early as 4th grade, after a typical breakfast of carb loaded cereal and milk, by 10:00 a.m. I was shakey and sweating! I have always struggled with it. Before I learned what it was and such, I thought I was...

ARCHIVED What Does A Typical Day Of Eating Look Like For You All?
zip2play replied to BeccaM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I typically have eggs w/ cheese and maybe pork for breakfast. But I am tiring of these, so I need to broaden my selection! (oh sometimes I eat a small cup of cocoa pebbles and milk) Snack: Trail mix with varied nuts and M&M's. Lunch: Varries. Today was left over tatertot casserole and grapes. Dinner: Not sure. Maybe chicken noodle... -
That is me! Before Gluten Free, I rarely ate sugar. I just wouldn't allow myself it! Now, since there are so many other things I can't have. I eat sugar daily. I started on 01/09/06 and I am the same weight as I was. But that was a good 10 or 15 pounds more than it should be! Monica
-
Before someone should tell you you aren't too thin or too fat, they would either need to see you or know your weight and heighth! Although I do agree, people are heavier which makes them think everyone should be. That may not always be true. What is your height and weight? (If I can ask?) Monica

ARCHIVED My Blood Test Results.
zip2play replied to lemonade's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Janine, I am sorry you didn't get the results you were hoping for. You were gluten free for 7 months, your stomach issues improved? Migraines didn't? It could be that your healing wasn't complete. If I were you, I would try the gluten free diet again. If you feel better, maybe with time, the headaches will disappear too! OH and don't just try to reduce... -
ARCHIVED My Blood Test Results.
zip2play replied to lemonade's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am a Celiac that never had a postive test result. My blood test came back elevated, but not completely positive. I had an endoscopy and there was no damage found. My GI Dr. is convinced it is IBS. Even though if I eat pancakes I end up in the ER! NO, to me, if it walks like a duck, it is a DUCK! I have been gluten free since 01/09/06. I have only... -

zip2play replied to Sarah Beth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Do you like your primary doctor? Does he/she deliver babies? My last 2 doctors I have been really close too! I used my primary care doctor through prenatal and delivery. Nice to keep with someone I know and love! Good luck with an uneventful 9 months! Monica
