  1. Where do you guys find that Progresso Cream of Mushroom soup? I have looked everywhere here and I can never find it?!?!? Monica
  2. If this happens again, my suggestion is you walk the lunches to your children's classes. Hand it to them yourself. Then there is no question. KWIM? It stinks, but those kind of things can happpen! How old are your girls? I ask b/c my 4 year old knows what foods I can and cannot have. Monica
  3. Keep in mind, if you were truly underweight due to Celiac, it will be normal for you to gain weight once your body is reacting correctly to food. I think here in America too much focus is made on being REALLY THIN! I think it is difficult to expect a normal person to stay that way! I wish you both luck with losing. I too have gained since going Gluten...
  4. Don't stop there girl. Have someone sonogram your thyroid. My levels have been checked for over a year. ALWAYS were they normal. But I am cold, tired and have weight creaping up. Just a couple weeks ago did they finally sono my thyroid. I have 8 nodules and a cyst on it. You can have Hypothyroid and have numbers that are normal. Thus far none of my...
  5. My hypoglycemia improved after giving up gluten, but that is the carby stuff that would cause bloodsugar issues. It isn't a cure, but I agree, I think it was there all along due to the gluten issues. Monica
  6. Try making the peanutbutter cookies without flour. THey are GREAT! Even my gluten-free friends LOVE THEM! Flourless cookies: 1 cup peanutbutter 1 cup brown suger (not packed) 1 egg 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup chocolate chips Mix together and bake at 350degrees for 12 minutes. YUMMY STUFF!
  7. I don't think I could live without my Diet Pepsi!
  8. I am very reluctant to give up dairy. But if it will help, I may need to look into it! Monica
  9. Hypothyroid can also be horribly misdiagnosed for adults as well. I am still messing with thyroid conditions and I started seeing DR's about it in May of last year. After finally getting a sonogram, it was found I have 8 nodules on my thyroid. The surgeon and my DR disagree on how to treat it. I am currently waiting for us all to decided! Monica
  10. I am so sorry this has happened. Is there anyway to get him going on a gluten free diet? Monica
  11. I too cannot suggest a KS doctor. MY GI Dr would completely disagree with me having gluten issues. He was full of CRAP! He felt, negative biopsy, NO ISSUES! But, positive diet response....to me proves it! Jayhawk, can your 8 year old go gluten free to see if it helps or changes things? Funny thing, we live here in Lawrence, have...
  12. That is great news! How exciting for you all! I see your ID is jayhawkmom. You a KU fan? Live near Lawrence KS? That's where I live. Has your 8 year old been tested? Monica
  13. I too, have no problems with those type products. Monica
  14. anytime you have a dispute with any insurance company (medical or wind/hail) getting the insurance department involved is a good idea. I used to work for the KS insurance dept and Insurance companies don't like receiving complaints. They are logged at the dept and then that info becomes public record. Sometimes the sweaky wheel does get the attention!...
  15. I burp all the time. Glutened or not. My son, he is 7, calls me the QUEEN of burping! Monica
  16. I try to look at it like an extreme allergy, much like Peanut allergy! It is difficult at times, especially when on vacation or such, eating out is difficult. That is when I feel sorry for myself too! If you energy is really bad, keep with your DR! I felt better initially but my energy never came back up. They just found I have issues with my thyroid...
  17. This year I have had major sinus issues. They just clear up, I have a week break and then BAM back again. Is this just me? Is it related due to the autoimmune nature of the disease? Allergies? Any help is appreciated! Monica
  18. I saw it too! Thought it was great! Monica
  19. I love this stuff. My entire family will eat it too! I mean, no one can tell! I keep hearing about Chebe crust for pizza, I must get some of it! Just get inventive with your foods. Like most have stated, almost anything can be made gluten free! I get mine at our local health food store! Monica
  20. I don't know your history, is it possibly Gall Bladder? Monica
  21. I agree with your DR! I have also learned it might be the type of gluten for me. Raw forms of flour (or nearly raw) just about kill me. I can't make cookies or cakes, breathing in the flour causes me MAJOR issues. Pancakes, since not cooked at high temps, KILL ME as well! But I can have an occassional bit accidentally of stuff that is cooked at high...
  22. Let us know how it goes. I am thinking/praying for you now. I have to have the needle biopsy next week! I too am anxious. Monica
  23. Very well could be reactive hypoglycemia. I don't need a test to know I have it. Couple all carbs or sugar with protein. The key is to balance it all. IF you have major issues, cut way back on carbs and eliminate sugar. Once I gave up gluten it seemed to help, but last week I started having major issues again. It is smart to keep something sugary near...
  24. Good luck getting a diagnosis! I hope all goes well for him! Monica
  25. I have hunger related issues. If I get too hungry, I can be doubled over in pain with gas type issues. I can burp and such. I try not to allow that to happen. It can be extremely painful. I have hypoglycemia, so that doesn't help either. Monica
