    ARCHIVED Kansas Doctor Needed

I live in KS as well. In Lawrence there is not one doctor that knows anything about Celiac. Heck, b/c my biopsy was negative, my gastro dr refuses to believe that gluten can even be an issue. Amazingly, once I gave it up, my problems have disappeared. But I had to lose my Gall bladder first and have a hernia operation. Both might have been prevented...

    ARCHIVED Gerd Op

I forgot to mention, I too cannot throw up either. I can burp and have no issues there. But if I get a stomach virus, there is now way for me to purge myself. If you think gluten free may handle it, I say do it. But I can say, gluten-free will not correct a hernia and if it is a major one, acid will creap up. If enough damage is done, you are then...

    ARCHIVED Gerd Op

I have had the hiatal hernia operations to fix a large hernia that was causing major gerd. I had it on July 1st of 2003. It was hell the first couple weeks, but well worth it. I have had NO gerd or reflux issues since having it done. I do believe the surgery prompted my gluten issues. I am sure I probably had them all along, but they became major after...
  4. That is great! Now that my son is in the throws of baseball season, we do "sandwiches" about twice a week for our evening meal. I make them and we take them to the ballpark! Me, I always use white corn tortilla's. I just havne't been able to get Gluten free bread to work....oh and the cost just about kills me! LOL Monica
  5. OMG a 5 year old that has weighed 35 pounds for 2 years..... Doesn't your doctor find that odd/horrible? I have a 4 1/2 year old and she weighs 45 pounds and she is tall and well w/n normal ranges. It sounds to me your entire family has tummy issues! I certainly hope you get the answers you need! MONICA
  6. One of our families favorite dishes is teriyaki chicken. Since January, I have been gluten free. Does anyone know a brand of teriyaki sauce that is gluten free? Monica
  7. You are all in my thoughts. I can't imagine the difficulty. Mine has always been the opposite! Eat just before going to bed. That is a HUGE no no if a person is trying to lose weight! GOOD LUCK Monica

  10. I personally only tell my closest friends and family members I have celiac. Others get told I have an allergy to wheat! That is much easier to explain and I don't end up rambling on about gluten to explain what it is and the fact it is in everything! Monica
  11. Have you guys considered writing the company and complaining. I would bet a LARGE SUM OF MONEY they added the damn Wheat so they could SLAP the Whole Grains label on it. That is the NEW RAGE! Bunch of BS if you ask me! I haven't lost a dang pound on this. I have actually gone up. If I feel sorry for myself, I eat some chocolate or candy! I eat...
  12. I was not confirmed a celiac. My blood test came back a little high (I don't know which one) but my biopsy was clear. I was sick and tired of being SICK and TIRED! I had D almost daily and gas and bloating that so bad that I bought my jeans 1 size bigger than what I am. I went gluten free on 01-09-06 and there's no turning back for me. I don't have to...
  13. M&M peanutbutter is the BOMB! YUM You might want to add some scoops fritos chips, cool ranch doritos, trail mix with nuts and M&M's, lays potato chips, butterfingers. You can make a lovely gluten free goodie bag! Monica

  22. That is EXACTLY what happens to me! I mean EXACTLY! It isn't my hypoglyecmia, that cause me to get the shakes, sweaty and uncontrolable. This is horrible GAS TYPE pain to my stomach and same as you, when I initially eat, it gets much worse! I am glad it is NOT just me! Monica
  23. Gosh I don't know what it is. I got pains and horrible gas (both ways ) Monica
  24. Could you have Fifths disease? It can cause the hands to get red and hot, sometime they would even itch! Monica
  25. Ok I generally don't go without snacking due to my hypoglycemia. But this morning I was in a rush to get my DH to the doctor and I didn't have my snack. I went from 7:00 till 12:30 without eating. My bloodsugar did fine, but my tummy started aching really bad. And now, even though I have eaten, it is still causing me major pains. (comparable to when...
