  1. Yes, at least at my Chipotle, they still hit the spoons on the tortillas and then put them back in the toppings. The last time I went (which will probably be the LAST time), the very nice young man offered to wash his hands and change gloves (and even the spoons), but then told me that the spoons always go back into the toppings after hitting the tortillas...
  2. Great idea! Thanks for sharing it!
  3. As I've been inspecting labels, I've seen one on several packages that I don't recognize. It is a small cylinder (shaped kind of like a tuna can) with a number followed by the letter "m." For example, inside the cylinder, it would say "12m." Just above the cylinder, there is what looks like an open can lid -- as if you were lifting the top off of a can of...
  4. Thank you so much for posting this! I am doing so much better since going off gluten about 7 months ago, but sometimes it still feels like one step forward, two steps back. I have been able to add some things back into my diet that I was sensitive to, but not all yet. I'm still hoping dairy can make a comeback! Every once in awhile, I get glimpses of...
  5. I have never been diagnosed with any mental health issues, however, I had a pretty good case of continual anxiety and mild depression going most of my life and didn't even realize it because I thought it was my normal personality. When I got off of gluten, both of these cleared up and I almost had an identity crisis because I had never been without them ...
  6. Wow....just wow! I'm stunned that someone would say that to you!
  7. She is a super messy baker -- clouds of flour absolutely everywhere, and she bakes several times a week. And she doesn't get the cc thing. I took over some gluten free rice Chex the other day, and she reached into the box and grabbed some after recently wiping up with a flour-laden sponge. I told her that wasn't a good thing to be doing, but I don't think...
  8. So my husband and I go to my parents' house pretty regularly on the spur of the moment these days. Often, dinnertime will come around while we are there, and Mom will fix something or they will decide get a pizza. Of course, I usually can't eat it. Rather than finding myself stuck watching everyone else eat, I bought a few gluten free frozen dinners and...
  9. Thanks, all! :-)
  10. I have a millet pillow that I LOVE! I've been sleeping on it for a few years now. I'm still very new to this whole thing, so I'd like to get your thoughts on the advisability of continuing to use this. I still have some symptoms, and I'm not always sure where they come from since I still seem to be sensitive to a lot of other things besides gluten. I don...
  11. I'm so glad it helped! :-)
  12. ....absolutely ROCK! They came out tasting better than any brownie mix I ever made in my non gluten-free days. They were slightly chewy with a nice soft inside, and very chocolately...just the way I like them. AND, they are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility! Woo hooo!!!
  13. I have relatives who almost every time I see them say things like, "Oh, you should taste this great new cornbread recipe I made the other day -- it's amazing!" and "Have you had this awesome new breakfast bread? It's soooo good!" They honestly don't mean any harm by it. They're just trying to share something with me that they've found that they like...
  14. On some old threads about how to travel safely, I saw that some of you really liked your Koolatron coolers. I looked at them, but they were around $120, and I just couldn't quite justify spending that much at this time. My hubby and I were in Home Depot yesterday, and found a 14 qt. soft-sided Koolatron on a special-buy price for just $39.88! I am incredibly...
  15. I don't know what they have in the UK in terms of gluten-free frozen dinners, but here in the US, Amy's makes delicious gluten-free vegetarian frozen meals. You might try an internet search for gluten free frozen dinners in the UK.
  16. I realize this is a very old thread, but I just wanted to add that Neptuna (in a jar) contains no wheat as an ingredient, but today after eating a jar that I had sitting around the house from prior to my diagnosis (and not thinking about the fact that I hadn't read the label prior to buying it), I had a slight reaction. When I looked at the label, it said...
  17. I take 250 mg of magnesium oxide daily, although I probably need to increase this, as I've been having a little more trouble with the tremor feeling lately.
  18. Does anyone know what grocery stores in Ft. Wayne, IN sell gluten-free frozen dinners? I'm going to be in Ft. Wayne for a couple of weeks, and will need to buy about 20 of them, so I need a grocery story that carries a large stock (and hopefully) variety of them. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
  19. Thank you, thank you, thank you for asking about this! I have these, too, and they are very distressing! Magnesium and sublingual B-12 seem to help with this for me. I also tested low in vitamin D, and it's possible that my supplementation with that has helped, as well. Just my experience...hope you find something in it helpful.
  20. Sorry...I realize my post above is off-topic. It's just something that has been on my mind, and for some reason it surfaced in this thread.
  21. I've only been here a short time, but two ideologies seem to be prevalent around here. One ideology trusts in empirical, well-researched, current medical thinking. The other takes a more skeptical view of standard medicine and may give more credence to to anecdotal experience (both theirs, and that of others) and to alternative medicine. I think that...
  22. I don't have a response like that to gluten, but I used to get a weird heart response to caffeine. Every so often, it felt like my heart would kind of pause and then it felt like it was flopping over in my chest (I know...weird description!). I'd have maybe 8 regular beats and then one weird one like that. My doc told me that caffeine causes irregular...
  23. Dear MermaidPaz, I don't have any suggestions for you, but I just want to say how very sorry I am that you are going through this. I can't imagine how difficult that must be for you! Please hang in there! Discouragement can definitely seem overwhelming at times, but I've found that it is not often permanent. I hope and pray that you will soon find...
  24. My apologies -- I see the admin posted a link to this article on Jan. 17th.
  25. While I was sitting in my doc's office this morning, I read a magazine article about a new celiac blood test being developed that only requires a three-day gluten challenge. I'm sure someone has already posted something about this (although I only had a moment, and my quick site search didn't turn it up), but here's some info I found by googling it: ...
