ARCHIVED Can't do this...Beyond PO'ed!!!Ennis-TX replied to Another PO'ed Celiac's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Just had flash backs of my first few weeks gluten-free. "Heroin" withdrawal, love how you put that. I have major issues myself with gluten ataxia, and constipation hits me for 4-6 days after exposure. I am on a mobile device now but when I get to a computer in the evening I will post some links to some supplements that make it easier. Wil also share some...

ARCHIVED Label says "naturally gluten free food"Ennis-TX replied to TammyTE's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Although a lot of things are naturally gluten free like fresh veggies, and fruit. Sometimes stuff does happen, always rinse your fresh produce, in my case the veggies are right next to the open bakery at one store. Drifting flour can be a issue or people take gluten food samples at the front door then handling produce. As of late a few other issues have...

ARCHIVED Label says "naturally gluten free food"Ennis-TX replied to TammyTE's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications There have been a bunch of issues with aldis and gluten free item along with a whole bunch of contamination and mislabeling. I know gluten free watch dog posted at least 3 times about issues in the past few years. Best stay away from them for food.

montgomery inn bbq sauceEnnis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Imagine they changed out to a apple cider or coconut vinegar instead of a grain based one. Bit odd they claim 0, but if they do it in writing like that they must be pretty darn sure. Do they sell this stuff by the bottle?

ARCHIVED Tried out my new Nima sensorEnnis-TX replied to tessa25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications now If only I could win a lifetime supply of test capsules, Got to admit I love how cheap they are compared to EZ strips, but on a fixed income and a special diet knowing if I can get buy decently at the end of each month is a very worrisome as is.

ARCHIVED Glutened, It can Happen.Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease This brings up a very intriguing question about my body. If I walk through a bakery sometimes at a grocery store, I get the whole fog, swollen lymph, and anger. Now when I consumed that low gluten first pudding batch, I got lymph, vomiting, numbness, Diarrhea in the evening, constipation hard stools the next day, and slight fog but no anger panic, and just...

ARCHIVED Angry Orchard hard ciderEnnis-TX replied to Monkey0111's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Seems the market is getting looser on labeling stuff gluten-free without certifications, then being contaminated Dealing with this myself right now, even using a gluten tester on a completed dish confirmed my concerns when something made with only gluten-free ingredients came back positive. You can only trust certain brands and gluten-free Certified foods...

ARCHIVED Angry Orchard hard ciderEnnis-TX replied to Monkey0111's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Found that cider I had the other day, labeled gluten-free. Tasted like a beer more then a cider. Only sipped a bit and handed it off.

ARCHIVED Angry Orchard hard ciderEnnis-TX replied to Monkey0111's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Small amounts of salmon, crabs, and swai seem fine. Most red meats and tough white meats, I just throw back up or come out undigested. But I do cook meats for others, might consider this, thinking cooking a roast in a crock pot in a bottle of cider might be great. I know doing it in a cane sugar natural rootbeer was wonderful, shredded it then poured in my...

ARCHIVED Angry Orchard hard ciderEnnis-TX replied to Monkey0111's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I know I read a recent article on Gluten removed beers not being safe for celiacs at all, due to the way they "Remove" Gluten via a enzyme is not precise and leaves a bunch of the gluten proteins behind. Anyway, I found a cider I had a sip of a few weeks ago locally made here in Texas that did not bother me. Was debating how to use it in cooking lol. I do...

I been having gluten issues in my house, something minor but been present for the past 4 days. Seems even buying only foods labeled gluten free and supposedly gluten free is not always enough, and even the most cautious of can have stuff happen. I have yet to narrow down the exact source but it was something in my Pudding/Icecream/Shake base that I use for...

ARCHIVED Pretending To Be Fine But Really Falling ApartEnnis-TX replied to GirlinBlue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I had to live in a gluten containing household for years. It is a pain to stay gluten-free in one but you can help reduce the chances of it happening by using freezer paper on your counter top, gloves, your own area for your gluten-free dedicated goods, and I found opening the drawers, cabinets, fridge, and turning on the tap before starting helped prevent...

ARCHIVED Dairy sensitivity and celiac disease?Ennis-TX replied to GlutenedCN's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Well as mentioned it is a autoimmune disease that effects the immune system, top it off with how it damages your your intestines....allergies, and food intolerance go hand and hand with celaic disease. And yours sounds like a allergy, need to get that tested but it is probably to one of the proteins or sugars that make up dairy. I developed really bad corn...

ARCHIVED Dairy sensitivity and celiac disease?Ennis-TX replied to GlutenedCN's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms For testing you have to be eating gluten, not much just a cracker or a half slice a bread a day, you need to be eating it for 12 weeks for the blood test and at least 2 weeks for the endoscope and biopsies. Remember to ask for a FULL Celiac blood test! I have been lactose intolerant for over 15 years myself, and allergic to whey, casein is fine it seems...

Gluten free frozen fries?Ennis-TX replied to GlutenedCN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Most major chain grocery stores also have a gluten free product list that is available, you can look up this way to get a idea, if in doubt of anything you can always call the company or email them and ask. I have used Ore-ida hash browns when cooking breakfast for others all the time. I normally make my own fries in the oven with sweet potatoes my own seasoning...

This is another common issue due to damage with the intestines in celiacs is we develop certain nutrient deficiencies, Common ones are as mentioned magnesium which is commonly used by our nervous system and muscles, others include but are not limited to b12, b6, niacin, iron, vitamin D, calcium etc. We normally suggested getting tested for deficiencies by...

ARCHIVED Thankful!Ennis-TX replied to trishianna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I am working on a cheesy Italian bread that is gluten-free, honestly missing it myself, and I just last month got down a bunch of pizza alternatives. Anyway there are a few companies that make gluten-free breads, and plenty of noodle substitutes for different dishes. Lundberg Makes a bunch of noodles, and various other dishes. Ian's and Udis have various...

Takes a bit of getting a hang of it but once your get your issues down and a nice regime of gluten-free meals and meal prepping. And I am getting my energy back that I had 4-5 years ago, back working weights...

ARCHIVED Snacks!Ennis-TX replied to Jherm21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I thought the same with peanut butter by my research led me to find that Skippys makes a chocolate blend that contains gluten, there are a few stores that make their own brand of PB on shared lines with "Cookie Dough Peanut Butter" and "Peanut Butter Snack Packs" . But Name brands seem pretty safe after looking into them. I wish I could eat peanut butter...

ARCHIVED Do I Have Celiac ? And Gluten IntoleranceEnnis-TX replied to Crunches's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms You have to keep eating gluten to be tested, but only a half a slice of bread or a cracker a day. I do suggest going to you doctor and requesting a FULL celiac panel and getting the blood test done. They will follow up with a endoscope and biopsy. On a side note Celiac is a autoimmune disease, it can lead to other issues with your body, including other...

ARCHIVED Snacks!Ennis-TX replied to Jherm21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Both claim to be gluten free on their sites, check the labels to be sure like always. I might suggest almond butter also, and if trying to put on weight a nice protein powder between meals, and before bed can help maintain weight. Pumpkin seed protein works great for recovery, and I personally use MRM Veggie Elite and Nutra-Key V-Pro. You might try a meal...
