Wow, thanks Sophie! THere are some things you mentioned that I HAVEN'T tried and think I will, lol. Thanks again.

Hmm, maybe you just need to mix it up a bit
I guess I don't see muscle, but it looks firm.
Abs, I've had five kids, we won't talk abs .... they're flat and muscular, they just need new skin
Yep, I've been trying to mix it up a bit in the last few months...kind of cycling between heavy and lighter and fewer and more reps.

My ears also itch sometime.
Mine too.

Last night I spoke with a man who had gone on Cipril, spelling anyone? for candida. He had diagnosed himself and got the doctor to prescribe it but as he talked about it I couldn't imagine why anyone would take this into their body. He said it kills the yeast because it stops every cell in your body from dividing as long as you are on it, this makes for a die off of yeast. According to him this drug was developed to deal with the possibilty of bio-warfare but that market never really took off. He says it is now being used in every feed lot in the country to stop animals once they hit the feed lot from getting sick before they are slaughtered. A very good reason to buy locally produced organic meat.

Can you do a little cardio? Cardio burns the fat, weights build the muscle (basically, though muscle also burns fat ...). Do you lift enough? Some women don't use enough weight for fear of looking like a guy. Trust me, you won't ... wrong hormones! Maybe you already know this, but lift the most weight you can and still be able to do 8-12 reps. By the time I get to the third set of an exercise, I often cannot make it to 8 reps.
I had a lower body day today. It's tough, especially when you'd rather be in bed.
Yes, I do a little walking, but even when I was doing a lot more cardio (even interval training) I couldn't see muscle. Now THAT was a bit frustrating...and even when I was at my lowest weight I never saw muscle. My abs look good though.
I LOVE lifting heavy because I HATE doing endless reps, lol. So even with all that, I still don't show muscle.
I like doing 6-8 reps for three sets then onto the next. I also did lower body today, and yes I'd rather be in bed.
Heck our paths could have crossed just about anywhere...we live in the same area and we both love to shop!
Yep, we ended up with the same GI doctor even before we "knew" each other here.

Yah, I was wondering about the connection to celiac myself, but I've never had a rash of any kind. I was also wondering about candida or yeast overgrowth...one of my doctors was pretty sure I had a problem with it. My new doctors are testing for it now, so I'll know in a couple of weeks.
I'll have to try NOT scratching, but I don't know if I can...the urge is so strong, it almost drives me crazy!
I didn't itch at all last night, so I'm really leaning towards the mangoes...I also ate beef that day, which I hadn't had in 12 days or so...tomrrow (when I'm sure the "reaction" is gone) I'll add beef back to see if that caused it, and if not then a couple of days later I'll try the mango once more.
Soap...I actually use Cetaphil cleansing bars, and have also used the Gluten Free Savoinnere soaps, both of with which I've had the itching. I've used GS shampooes and conditioners, California Baby Shampoes/Conditioners, expensive ones from my salon and the cheap stuff from the store...all of with which I've had itching. I don't think I can go without soap, lol, I perspire at the drop of a hat, lol.
I even buy my laundry detergent from the health food store thinking it might be that.
It's a little frustrating to know that the body doesn't work the way it's supposed to and not know why.

I love weights, too. I really think that they kept me from getting thinner than I did. Since my arms, legs and shoulders were muscular to begin with, they never got that skinny look, it was only around the middle that I got too skinny (had trouble keeping my pants up).
I started lifting again, too. I missed it and yoga just wasn't the same. I don't do the cardio either. I only spend about 20-30 minutes in the weight room and no longer do "super-sets" (alternating two or three exercises without rest). Some days I don't have the energy, but I do make it over there two or three times per week. It also gets me out of the house.
Fortunately, I always seem to have enough energy for a bicep curl, but lower body is another story! I used to rush through my sets, but I really have to take the breaks now. I've never gotten to that "skinny" state, but for as much as I have worked out over the last 4 years, one can't really see any muscles unless I flex, lol...the doctor has me taking DHEA, so I'm hoping that will at least give me a bit of definition.

I HATE this not knowing and docs being so clueless. My turn for a down day.
Exactly! And you are certainly entitled to a down day as are we all here! Hoping you don't stay down for long though!
-
No, it doesn't need to take longer, as in more days. Instead of doing one body part, do two -- Mon. -- chest, back, Tues. -- legs, Wed. -- rest, Thurs. -- biceps, triceps, shoulders, Fri. -- legs (different than Tues.)
Yep, after I had time to think about it, I realized that when I started the 1 part per day, I actually added exercises...I can cut out a couple of them and still work the parts well especially since they'll get assists from some of the other exercises. I was just bummed a bit cuz the weights are practically the only thing I have left. I can't do the intense cardio anymore and I actually have always liked weights more anyway...once I thought about it more, I realized that I can still do my beloved weights, lol.
Did you tell me you once went on diflucan? If so how did you react to it? This may be what Ig o on for the candida and I am a little nervousMiamia
I took it once. My insurance would only pay for ONE pill though, so the doctor had me on Nystatin for the candida. I can't remember if I reacted to it--it was about 3 years ago--in the midst of the antibiotic frenzy from the same doctor.
I started out on a candida diet about a year and a half ago....thats when I really started to take control of my health and make diet changes etc. Diflucin shouldnt be taken long term. I probably took it 3 seperate times but never for long periods. I only took it for like a week or 2 at the the most. Its hard on the liver so you'll need to have your liver checked while your taking it....especially if you take it for a long time. Even though I only took it for 2 weeks the Dr. checked my liver before I got on it and then again a couple weeks later.I never noticed any improvement of symtpoms while taking it. I had a couple spots on my chest that had been there for more than a year (while I was really sick)....I never knew what they were but they didnt bother me. When I took my first Diflucin pill....the spots were gone the next day!
I guess they were yeast or some type of fungus.
Anyway....thats the only benefit I got from the Diflucin.
I also took Nystatin oral powder form (tastes like cardboard). I thought it was more effective but no major changes in my symptoms. If I have to take an antifungal again.... I'd take the Nystatin....even though it tastes really bad....I thought it worked better.
I spent alot of time on candida message boards....I still visit the boards but I'm not really treating candida anymore...I havent taken anything for it in over a year. I got one of those little spots back on my stomach....thought about taking Diflucin....I still have some but they're probably expired now. I guess I'll just leave it alone....the spot is very faint and I'm sure it'll just come back anyway. It was the coolest thing to see them disappear after taking only one pill though!
Yep, I noticed the biggest difference while on the candida diet and the candida/rotation diet...took probiotics for about 3 years, lol. Rachel, I spent a lot of time on candida boards too...I wonder if our paths crossed in a past life, lol.

That's what she had said, too. But, since the cycles could be best described as spinning, it's not really healing that's going on ... I'm staying the same. I actually feel no better than I did a year ago.
I think she thinks everyone's problems are related to their emotional state, I don't think it was just me. Or maybe there were comments to tip her off, but it didn't seem like it.
Yep, they're quick to blame it on emotional states.
I feel slightly better in some ways than I did a year ago, but worse in others.
I actually had a friend tell me I just needed to relax a little, go on vacation, sit out by the pool, and reassess-- YEAH that is going to cure me of all my allergies and sensitivities, fix my digestion, rid me of toxic waste and systemic infection...riiiiight.......Who else wants to be a part of the B family?Okay, me, lol.
Hey, I forgot to comment on the swinging of the arms while walking. I'm a big arm swingerI am sure I look ridiculous but I don't care. At the park where I walk there is actually a lady who walks without swinging her arms, they are stiff and straight and by her sides-- that actually looks funny. So I say go ahead everybody, swing away with your arms! It will set you free...and it's fun
Yah, I'm an arm swinger too...I natural walk is pretty fast and well, you just can't help but swing the arms. I try NOT to do it at work though because, well, I might hit someone, and working with attorneys....well, that wouldnt't be good.
Okay, physical therapist wants me to NOT strength train every day, lol. I do one body part per day usually, but he says that even doing a bicep curl uses the neck muscles, so he wants me to alternate days of upper and lower body.
That means it will take me LONGER to do it.
Chiropractor hooked me up to some kind of machine today to measure the range of motion in my neck...as expected I'm below the average. He wanted to have some kind of "measurement" other than his visual to see if and when I improve. I am almost convinced though that this is related to one of my CONDITIONS, lol. I've had it too long and it's sore even on vacation when I'm not doing ANYTHING. Chiropractor guy also has a neck warmer thingy on order for me, lol...my little corningware hot pack isn't cutting it I guess.

Hello and welcome!

Wow Carla, I'd get emotional in her office with what she said, lol. Anyway, I'm glad they are sending the test in for you! My doctor also said healing goes in cycles, and she also said that eventually I'll have more good days than bad...in other words, it kind of sneaks up on you. I don't know...hard to believe that when we've been feeling so bad for so long.

We're hanging in there Patti. Only 1 1/2 weeks until we go. Hopefully the time will go quickly.
Oh, what fun. Hope you get some breathing room. Only 1 hour to go!!
who'd'a thunk, lol...actually looking forward to going to my chiropractic/PT session just so I can leave work, lol.
-
I'm here, lol. The afternoon person called in sick and the office administrator put out an email saying such, and now everyone is trying to get their stuff in before I leave at 2:20.
Soooo, been busy with WORK.

I know it's hard enough to "get it" when you have "it" (celiac disease), but I'm just frustrated with the whole world right now.
This too shall pass
I'm so sorry! I'm frustrated for all of us right now.

Hi Donna,
Itchiness could be caused by the mangoes.
Some people get terribly allergic to them. My mom is one. I fortunately am ok with them. I grew up in a mango growing district. During school vacation I worked picking and packing mangos. A lot of workers had to quit after a couple of weeks due to really bad reactions even from just coming into contact with them.... And the response can build up over time...
Just an idea.... hope you work all this out.
Sally
Thanks Sally! Mangoes weren't on the list of foods they allergy tested me for, but my allergist said they could test for it if I bring the food in...I may do that. In the meantime, I've cut them out again and the itchiness is slowly subsiding, although am still scratching in the middle of the night.

But I still DO feel that life has passed me by......
Maybe that will pass, too.
I feel this way from time to time too...fortunately it's not very often and it's not very strong, but I definitely have regrets about stuff I SHOULD have done or wish I'd done. We can't really change any of that, all we can do is make the most of what we have NOW and what we have left.
Along with the suggestions about what might counteract some of these feelings for you...natural day light...maybe if you get some of those lightbulbs that are supposed to be like natural daylight...they are also supposed to improve mood I think.
I am totally missing out on the scientificness of that discussion you all are having about RAchel's numbers.Yep, my head is spinning trying to make sense of it, lol.
So do you think its positive??When I asked the Dr. he answered like this...he said "Its poitive because anything greater than 1 and eighty is positive and yours was 1 and one hundred sixty." Does this make sense to you cuz it still isnt making sense to me. There is no scientificness here....its just plain math and I suck at math.
OMGosh, the world may be ending soon because I actually think I understand what he is saying!!!!! OMGosh!
He is reading these as two separate numbers...1 and 160. Postive results would be 1 and 40, but yours is 1 and 160, which is WAY positive in that case.

I've been reading here and there too...just wanted to say "hi" to all you guys!
Cecile!!!!!
Was just wondering where you've been! How are you!?
-
Thanks for the update Judy!!! Still praying for her!

Hum, they didn't give me a spray, but they've prescribed about 4 different kinds of creams which didn't help.
I scratch until I'm bloody too...it's awful.
-
Fortunately I haven't fainted yet, but nearly did in my surgeon's office during a pre-op appointment in January...they routinely take blood pressure when you first go in...they took it immediately when I said I felt like I wsa going to pass out...it had dropped by more than 10 points. That time it felt like the room was going black and starting from the top down. Weird.

Not even the aquafor helped mine.
I do put coconut oil on either before I dry off or just afterward when I shower, which helps slightly.

Rhonda, I have one floater in my right eye that has been there for years. I just went to your Lyme Strategies site ... the floater looks EXACTLY like the picture on the bottom left! Does this mean anything?
Yikes! I sometimes get one that looks like the upper left, but not often. I'll have to pay more attention the next time I get the floaters I usually get.

Hey Donna,
Just put a roast in the oven and literally sprinkled it with that salt. I have mainly been using mine with cooking. I've heard good things about the c and salt therapy.
I'd like to learn more about this salt and treatments.
Ha, I hadn't read this yet, but I used it on my chicken earlier! Great minds...
Hi Donna, "in honor of me", shucks.I started with just 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon Vitamin C or a 1 gram of Vitamin C in tablet form. After a few days I increased it to 1/2 teaspoon and it was then that I really noticed my energy kick back in although even on the 1/4 teaspoon I noticed a difference. I'm curious to know what you think, please keep us updated.
Lee, this is a good site for information about salt/c:

Thanks Rhonda. I haven't started with the C yet, but will take some with lunch.

I LOVED this!!! I'm sending it off to my friend who is chronically ill with fibro.
