  1. I told my Doctors this years ago and they sent me for a sleep study and hormone tests. Even a mild cross contamination had me in a brain fog, losing my place in a conversation, inability to concentrate- at all, even messed with my walking and sometimes my eye sight and even speech. Definitely a dull version of myself. I was 30 years mis-diagnosed so there...
  2. We sound very similar. It wasn't until my diagnosis as Celiac that I looked further and changed all my skin care products, shampoo, makeup. Amazingly, the skin rashes (Stress rashes according to my Dr & Derm) my head rashes, my canker sores cleared up! Then a year later I started rashing out on the insides of my elbows, cleavage, butt crack and back...
  3. Celiac's is like becomming an incredible Investigator and the case is your health. Unfortunately, the labeling laws make it almost impossible to figure out if something contains gluten or not. It took me months to realize that I had to change the dog food. It contaminated me. I threw out all the non-stick pans and plastic spatula's...they had gluten baked...
  4. I can certainly understand the tears... It's such a relief to know what you are up against so you can eat to be healthy. Then being sick for so long when you feel better it's amazing. I have my eye on a flourless chocolate cake recipe for my Anniversary! Yes, we shall all eat cake!
  5. Thanks for the replies...It's so hard to change behavior. I was eating out exclusively because of my 60 hour work weeks and hatred for cooking. Now, i am about 2-3 meals out a week....if even. I find that eat time I try and give a new restruant a chance it's more like playing Russian Roulette. @ Dee...I think that is where I am headed. I feel like a new...
  6. You all brought such interesting food for thought on this...I was newly diagnosed in Feb. First of April I went to Europe with my Dietician best friend & our teen daughters. She had heard about the wheat difference. I was determined to stay gluten-free until we were invited to her family's house for dinner~ They were a sweet couple in their 90's and she...
  7. Stick with it Mom...he's very lucky to have you. I had mouth sores since I can remember...They thought it may be a sensativity to tooth paste so I switched from whitening back to Tom's and it seemed to go away a little. However, I can't remember having one mouth sore since I went gluten-free. I also had scalp itches which went away with gluten-free lifestyle...
  8. Thanks for sharing your funny stories... My most hysterical moment was last weekend when my boyfriends Aunt said " Hey, we're doing that gluten free thing too" AS she slopped the beer out of her cup. I passed a note to her boyfriend with Red Bridge on it...
  9. Hello all~ I am brand new to this forum...so happy to have found you. I have felt a little like a Celiac Pioneer for the last seven months since diagnosis. My Celiac diagnosis followed a biopsy and blunted villi...I have tested negative for the last 15 years on the blood test...glad the Doc finally noticed! I truly believed my diagnosis saved my life...
  10. Hi- I think the thing to figure out is what works best for your family. The first thing I did when I was diagnosed was to clean the whole house of gluten, wheat, barley, rye & oats. Then I realized that my boyfriend really does enjoy taking 4 PBJ sandwiches in his lunch bucket and that is a whole loaf of gluten-free bread ($6.50 not in the budget...
  11. Life is short and you have to do what is right for your health...If you think you will be healthier in your own place then make the move. If you think there is a way to mediate the damage in your current home...give it a try. If you have space...your own kitchenette~ Cabinet, toaster oven and def cooking pans and utensils sponges etc... Trust me...I know...
  12. I think a lot of work and growth occurs when you truly commit to a gluten free life. Celebrate what dates are important to you...Congrats as you deserve it for you your effort! Cheers!
