  1. I am ond of the odd ones that gained weight due to my absorbtion problems (when my body did absorb something, it stored it, thinking that it was starving...) so on the gluten free diet I have lost 10 pounds in the last month. But I have noticed that when I do get gluten in there somewhere, I gain 3-4 pounds in water weight, that comes off almost over night...
  2. I read that in the book too and the impression that I got was that this was a problem for people who don't cut the gluten out, so if you are eating well, and cutting out the gluten, then you should be fine. Six years is a good long time to heal your body!! I just went gluten free recently and I want to start trying to have kids within a year. I have read...
  3. I live in Killeen!!!! There are meetings in Austin if you are interested in going, the next one is on the 18th of Jan. I would love to chat with you! Email me sometime! TiffanyJakubowski@yahoo.com God Bless!!!
  4. I had some gluten in my food last night and all day today I have been soooooo thirsty!!! Anyone else get dry mouth when they get glutened?????
  5. I heard it too and I kept waiting for them to say something about celiac disease, but they didnt!!!! Just about Gluten.....Anyway, its a start in getting the words "gluten-free" out there so that people don't look at you crazy when you ask for something!!!!! Way to go Medium!!!!
  6. Thanks for the posts....I asked that question at the beginning of my "week" and now I am at the end and things are odd, but much better than they were before going gluten-free. I have read on other posts and in books that the absorbtion rate changes so much when you are healing, so I think that my pill might need to be changed. I made an appointment with...
  7. I actually used to be a make-up artist. I guess I still am, but I don't do it anymore. I still work for friends and family, but the company that I was working for uses non-gluten-free stuff and it was too hard to work with those products and not wear them myself. It was a "conflict of intrest". Anyway, as to your skin tone, people either have a yellow, pink...
  8. Hey! Thanks! I live in Killeen Texas and I have been trying to find a support group!!!! thanks for the help!
  9. Hello! I am new to! I have been gluten-free for 3 weeks. I can tell a huge difference. I am amazed! I have had some really stupid doctors too, but mostly people who just wanted to give me another Rx and send me on my way. I am so impressed that you have been gluten-free for a year! I am worried that I won't make it that long with out cheating, but I just...
  10. I am having my first PMS since going gluten-free and my headaches are really bad. I have had MUCH LESS stomach and abdominal pain, but the headaches are really bad. Anyone else have different PMS after going gluten-free? Any ideas or tips? Maybe since I used to have headaches all the time and now I don't, these seem so bad, but I am just wondering if I am...
  11. I used Lipton Cup-of-soup in Cream of Chicken for a recipie today and even though it was a powder and I had to do some mixing, it worked really well, and it is gluten free, so if you are looking for something you are taking to work or school, these are great because they are little dry packets and you just add hot water.
  12. I used just the bread from the company, food for life, and this is my first try, so I am not sure if I want to try with cornbread, because I really liked this one! But hey! Go ahead and try something different! But to clarify, mine was just the Brown Rice bread from Food for Life.
  13. I just had gluten free stuffing and wantded to share my recipie with you incase you are still looking for one. ( Serves 2, maybe 3 if you don't eat a lot!) 1/2 loaf of gluten free bread ( I used the Brown Rice bread sweetened with fruit juice, by Food for life) 1 stick of butter 1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley 1/8 cup sage 1 tsp poultry seasoning...
  14. Hey! Thanks! I was looking for one all night last night!! You think I can leave out the mushrooms? I am not fond of them....might need to add something else though to make it go further.....
  15. I was looking at the NO bake cheese cake by Jello and it listed Modified Food Starch, does anyone know if it is corn or wheat? Also, cream corn. I looked at SEVERAL different cans, and they all listed MFS. Anyone know of a corn based MFS can? I am over an hour from the nearest health food store, so I am trying to do a lot of shopping at Walmart.....and...
  16. I really like Carnation Instant Breakfast and emailed them to ask if they were gluten-free. Here is the email that I got back. PS- I love that some of the companies are so nice and honest about it. I know that there are some that are not, but I really appreciated Nestle's email!!! Thank you for visiting Open Original Shared Link. We always appreciate your...
  17. Thanks so much! I was shopping today and wanted to pick some up but wasn't sure if it was gluten-free (saw modified food starch....). Thanks for this thread! If I didn't find it I was going to start it!
  18. I can't find Progresso Cream of Mushroom Soup, but I did find on the Progresso website, progressosoups.com , that there is a "creamy mushroom", but that one is not in my store either!! Any idea if it was "creamy mushroom" that you used?
  19. My defining moment was in the ER after eating a bowl of pasta for lunch. My BP was 160/104, and my heart rate was over 100. The ER doc said that the Gluten-loaded meal had thrown my body into shock. That was after nearly 2 weeks gluten free though, otherwise I don't think it would have been that severe. But I have always had "flutters", "murmers" and mild...
  20. Ditto! Please! Tiffanyjakubowski@yahoo.com
  21. I am here!! Thanks so much for your story. You are looking for some other obese or overweight Celiacs? Well, I have found my home! LOL. I am in the 40% BMI range (considered "morbidly obese") and wear a 20/22. I have no problem walking up the stairs to my second floor apartment, but I am very overweight. I have lost weight on gluten-free already, and then...
  22. I went gluten-free after an Lame Advertisement test (which dosen't confirm celiac disease, just an intolerence, so I didn't take it too seriously at that time) and lost 8 lbs in 3 days. My body just started flushing stuff out. It was kind-of scary. I was pee-ing almost every 30min. I had been so bloated for so long that I didn't even know how bad it was....
  23. I am brand new at this, so here is what I have to offer: I went to Whole Foods Market today to get gluten free stuff and they had a Pumpkin Mouse that was amazing!!! BUT....it had tofu in it, is that gluten free?? I know that there were no eggs, because it was a vegan recipie, so maybe you can see if you have a Whole Foods Market around, or if they have...
  24. I am new to this whole thing, so I am still putting all of the bit together, but I do get VERY HOT at night. I sleep with one of those tornado fans on the nightstand blowing right on me, and I still wake up really really hot, like I am burning up from the inside. I am only 23, and have no kids or anything like that. I had no idea that this might be a celiac...
  25. I so get that!!! I am new to this whole thing, but I totally get the eye problems. I used to think that it was because of my contacts, because I have the 30 day and night wear kind, so I sleep in them alot, but I still get it even when they are not in. Thanks for sharing that! I feel a tad more normal (at least in the celiac world!). TiffJake
