  1. That is awesome! I had a decent experience at the Westminster, CO location. The manager didn't come out, but the server took back the dining card and was right on top of things. It was a good meal, and I didn't feel "glutened" either...
  2. FYI- The last tube of Mentos I bought said "wheat" on the ingredients label!!!!! READ!!!! I thought they were safe, and just picked them up and la la la, but looked down and whoa!! Just goes to show you that you can't assume it is safe because it used to be or because you "just can't image it would have wheat in it" like I have done before. On Nexium,...
  3. While I don't understand and don't always agree with the rules of boards, the bottom line is that I am a USER and not the OWNER or even a MEMBER-such as someone with "voting" rights. I respect Scott's rules, if for no other reason, because this is HIS board, that he allows us to use. And I think that the mods do a WONDERFUL job!! Good work all
  4. I got a response a LONG time ago (so I don't have it to post) but basically non of their chocolate was gluten-free. They wouldn't say why (some big secret, Barley Malt I think) but that was their candies. I am not sure about the liqueur, but I would avoid it if it were me.....
  5. I just got home from the Gluten Free Summit in Denver, CO and Carol Fenster uses/used Expandex in some of her breads. They had breads there with the Expandex in them. They were really good. I wonder how you have to play with the flours and ingredients to get the good taste, but I will be trying some soon. There is a local gluten-free bakery, Celias, that...
  6. This is my experience and belief also.
  7. But the Corporate office has made a point to have a gluten free option. That is a big step for chains! That is my point....
  8. What started the whole Alexis Stewart thing is that she said she wanted recipes in the NY Times instead of another article about another place offering a gluten free menu. Well, I don't think there are ENOUGH places that offer gluten free menus! I try to keep up with the GOOD places I go out to eat, but I have slacked off! I say we start a positive letter...
  9. This was my last email to her, sent today. I think I came off mean in the one before, because I was angry, so I apologized in this one. But I just don't think she gets it, and I think you are right, they want the promotion for it, so there isn't going to be a sincere apology (that PSA on their website is more of a "sorry YOU took it that way" than "sorry...
  10. I don't know, I have only tried it in the one...but I would think so!
  11. OH!!! And you use a thermometer to check the bread, and pull it out at 200* instead of just going by time. That made a huge difference with my bread too!!
  12. I heard about this at a cooking class at McGovern's Organics in Austin. She said that something about the coconut milk protien made the bread hold together better. I don't know how or why, but it was the best gluten-free bread I have ever had!!! You just use coconut milk instead of the water or cow's milk.
  13. Rock on! And ditto about the truffle brownies..
  14. Great advice, just be sure that it is actually the pharmacist that fills your script, and not the tech, like in most major chains (Wal-mart, Walgreens, etc). Also, pharmacists do not handle vitamins that are OTC, so that might pose a problem if you are counting on them to know that information......
  15. I take it back, I had to reply, after all of this, and I did alert her to the possible fertility problems associated with Celiac Disease. I doubt I will get a response. We will see. But I am not holding my breath......
  16. On 8/13/07, Tiffany XXXXXXXXX <tiffanyXXXXXXXX@yahoo.com> wrote: I heard that you were bashing those that have to eat Gluten Free. I have Celiac Disease and have to eat Gluten Free. My grandmother died from Celiac Disease. This is a serious disease, and I honestly hope that the information that I got was incorrect. Please tell me this isn't true,...
  17. There is a support/information group in Austin called Alamo Celiac. Their website is AlamoCeliac.org.
  18. I have seen wheat and barley in some meds, which makes no sense to me, there are other starches and flavorings to use....but anyway, I use GNC multi's. They are gluten free, soy free, I think corn free, lots of stuff free. And they are pretty cheap, unlike a lot of "special" vitamins.
  19. Bronco, I saw your post on Myspace and replied there too. I emailed her too. I hope I get a response I can forward to the listserv. She is way out of line. I don't care if you had symptoms or not, the bottom line is that she said Celiac Disease was fake, not a real allergy, and that people who asked for gluten free menu's just wanted to not have it in their...
  20. Sorry, I meant the Louisville location, that one is closer to us than Littleton....
  21. Do you think they are doing it at the Littleton location too? I called and the manager said "yeah, we have gluten free stuff" but didn't know about Debys, so I think maybe they are ONLY doing it at the Denver location???
  22. Thanks so much for the info!! I can't wait to go now!!!!!
  23. Has he ever had the blood work done at the doctors office? Just wondering. I don't know anything about schools, but I would assume that what you have heard already is correct, that they would want an "official" diagnosis before making special arrangments. But I don't know for sure. You should be able to simply call someone and ask about that. From looking...
  24. I have pernicious anemia and use the sublingul B12 from GNC instead of the injections now. I used to bruise really bad from the injections. The sublingual tabs from GNC are really cheap, and are gluten free, soy free dairy free (and lots of other stuff that I don't worry about). Those might be a good option if you don't want to do the injections, or if you...
