ARCHIVED gluten-free Sugar-free Pancake Syrup
tiffjake replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes actually! I found a great brand (let me go look at the name)......it is Maple Grove Farms. It says "Sugar Free" in huge white letters, on a dark red label, and says "gluten free" on the back label. It is made with splenda. I got it at Walmart. -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Or Alcat Or ?
tiffjake replied to cathzozo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I understand being skeptical. I would be too if it wasn't for the fact that the A.L.C.A.T. test was the first test I had, because of GERD, and I expected to show reactions to tomatoes, peppers, stuff like they. But the test showed gluten, gliadin, casien, whey, and several other foods, but those foods lead me here, to this website, where I found out about... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Or Alcat Or ?
tiffjake replied to cathzozo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My insurance didn't cover any of it because it is Tricare, and you have to go through the miltary, and A.L.C.A.T. is not military, but whatever, I got the information, so I was happy! I am glad that your insurance looks like they will pick some of it up!!!! Wonderful!!! I think mine was 495 ish.....and I don't remember paying a lab fee, are you going... -
Congrats on your birthday and have fun on your trip!!! When I went I stuck to wine and champagne. I was worried about drinks that even if they were gluten-free, they would be mixed up with ones that were not gluten-free (spillage, or waitress grabbing the wrong drink). As far as food, I had great experiences at Emeril's Fish House in the MGM Grand...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Or Alcat Or ?
tiffjake replied to cathzozo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Except that the A.L.C.A.T. test is not an antibody test. They showed an intolerance to sardines for me, and I have never eaten sardines. When I doubted the test results, and ate sardines, I got a terrible headache and bad stomach cramping. There were several things on my test that I have never eaten that showed up as intolerances. When I asked how they... -
ARCHIVED In The Wedding Party, Need Travel Friendly Food...
tiffjake replied to tiffjake's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thanks Kate and Susan, I really appreaciate the ideas! I am making a "to pack" list of foods! You know, you do gluten free for so long, it is like you are in your own bubble, but then you have to travel, and the bubble gets bigger and bigger, and the threat of it breaking is driving me nuts! Susan, I love the idea about the nut bars, but where do you get... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Or Alcat Or ?
tiffjake replied to cathzozo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Good deal! My A.L.C.A.T. test was what lead me to Celiac in the first place, and helped me find out about other food intolerances. I hope you are able to work out the payments! -

Thanks Cassidy! I will be driving, so I know that means I can take a lot more stuff. I am mainly worred about the overnight stay with the whole wedding party. They are ordering Pizza that night, and making pancakes the next morning...and I just don't want to be a pain in the @ss, you know? Normally, I would be all over "my gluten free rights" but this is... -

tiffjake posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Ok guys, you are the best with food questions! I am eating a low sugar, low carb, (gluten free) diet. Mostly lean meats, veggies, salads, some low glycemic fruits, stuff like that. I will be traveling for a wedding soon, and I am in the wedding party, so I will be staying with everyone over night, and out of my own element. Any ideas for food? I know that... -
ARCHIVED There's Gluten In Bird Seed?
tiffjake replied to mdzplus2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is just my opinion. How old are you kids? Do they eat things off of the carpet? If not, then I think your normal cleaning would be fine. No need to shampoo. If they are picking through the carpet and eating everything they find, then maybe you should. But I know there are many people here who live with a non-celiac, and they share a kitchen and often... -

There are a couple of products with "wheat starch" listed. You can check the "Consumer's Guide to Ingredients" a book that consultants can buy from the company, if you are a consultant, or you can have your consultant look it up. She can also go to the InTouch website (the consultant website) and go to "Product Knowledge" and click on "Ingredients" and... -
ARCHIVED Resturant Refused To Tell Me Ingredients!
tiffjake replied to cajun celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Open Original Shared Link I like to "back up" my information. Here is the Outback Gluten Free Menu. Under "Alice Springs Chicken" you can see that it is served with a "Honey Mustard Sauce". On the far right hand side of the first page, bottom, in yellow writing, they list the two that are not gluten free, the "mustard vinaigrette" and the "bleu cheese... -

Yes they do. I had it today. It is a Honey Mustard Salad Dressing (they serve it with the Alice Springs Chicken, and you can get it on your salad). It is NOT the Mustard Vinaigrette, totally different. Perhaps a regional thing? But, they do have it.... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Have Experience With Going Off The Pill?
tiffjake replied to jesscarmel's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was on the pill for 6 years. When I went off, I had no period for a year. I took the "let down" hormones to have a period every 3 months. My period finally started on it own in August. I have had a 76 day cycle, a 25, a 25, and a 32 since then. Looks like things are trying to even out. My periods were actually worse on the pill. Cramps were severe.... -
Ditto. I like Bob's Red Mill gluten-free flour for things like fried chicken. I know some people don't like the taste of bean flour in stuff like cookies/cakes. That kind of stuff just depends on your taste.

ARCHIVED Frozen gluten-free Taquitos?
tiffjake replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have gotten the ones at HEB. I don't know the name, I think it is just the HEB brand (the grocery store brand). If you don't have an HEB, it is a grocery store, I think only in Texas.... -

I thought so too Richard, but someone here (and can't remember her name) works there, and she said that they make there own something or other at HER Outback, and it is safe....I can't remember, that was a couple of months ago......anyway, she stressed that HER Outback had a different dressing or something like that. If not for her post, I would totally agree... -
Yeah, that is totally helpful. I printed it out at New Years and took it with me to my local Chilis so I could have dinner with friends there. I got the Margarita Chicken without tortilla strips and it was Really Good!!!!

ARCHIVED Questions About Contacts And Food Allergies..
tiffjake replied to Lizzz88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sterile contact solution CAN NOT contain gluten b/c gluten is not sterile and is not isotonic. The molecule is too big to be absorbed by the eye mucus, and only substances that can be absorbed by the eye mucus will be in contact solution. The solution must be a certain salt/saline ration to pass through the eye membrane and not affect the pressure in the...
