  4. that explains it pretty well. i haven't gotten too much of the "you're nuts!" reaction from too many people. actually, i have, but not the ones that i care what they think. honestly, i can't imagine this gluten free thing taking off as the in thing with people who don't need it. it is to hard. but a few more restaurants would be GREAT!!! ...
  5. south shore long island here too - merrick i've had cafe baldo twice - pizza was ok - there's got to be better chicken parm and baked ziti was really good - i used to love eating in restaurants. now, not so much, of course. I'm trying to think of good restaurant experiences on long island, and i'm not coming up with anything. That's pretty sad...
  6. i hope it does become the cool thing. not because i want to be cool, but because more people will know what gluten is, and maybe, just maybe, more glutenfree restaurants will open. that'd be aewsome

  9. graves disease here (hyperthyroid) - diagnosed like 9 years ago daignosed 12/5 celiac i recently asked my endo if maybe it's possible that going gluten free would allow ne a better chance of remission with graves. he said there weren't any studies showing that would or wouldn't be likely, but it was an interesting question. in any case, it got him...

  11. i've been very strictly gluten-free since 1/1/06 i have never had celiac symptoms. but i've read all over the place that after being gluten-free for a while. i may develop symptoms when glutened. a few days ago (thursday) i very clearly had a stomach virus. It was going through my family, and i didn't think twice about what it was. then last night...
  12. lately i've been waking up from very vivid dreams where I'll have been eating something glutenfull. in the dream, i'll always realize suddenly that I shouldn't be eating this, but it's too late. sometimes i'll spit it way out, like across the room otherwise it will be too late. as an ex smoker, i've had the same dreams about smoking again sometimes...

Nitro is the BEST rollercoaster i've ever been on i waited in line for kingda ka for like 3 hours and never got on because af safely issues but nitro, so smooth, fast, steep, that's well worth the wait but only if you're feeling good, so bring your own food and, i'll say it again, have a BLAST
  14. i LOVE six flags great adventure in NJ - always have, and i've been going since the year it opened. and every year i HATED!!! the food we usually brought our own and did the cooler in the parking lot thing. gluten free or not, i wouldn't want to eat the park food, although i think they added some standard fast food (nathans i think), the last few years...

  16. my GI recommended 3 follow up endoscopys within the year. I haven't given too much though to not following that recomendation.

  19. have you tried arrowhead mills puffed rice? the ingredients are "puffed whole grain brown rice" they're not as krispy as kellog's rice krispies, but it's worth a try funny that there was a post about this. i was planning on making them for the first time this weekend i'll let you know how they are. -rg
  20. hey minibabe, at the GNC in penn station, they sell gluten free rice chip snacks that are really good. they remind me of doritos sort of, only better for you i think like most specialty sfuff, it helps if your rich good luck -rg
  21. i have graves and had all the symptoms you posted about how about hands and legs trembling. are you experiencing that? my graves is fine now that i'm on meds for it. it's not a huge deal. there's a lot worse diseases good luck -rg

Mookie, you're a genious!!! and if not from the ingredients in the back, maybe i could possibly order my salad in the morning and have them make it BEFORE they cross contaminate. when i explain the cross contamination issue, they might think i'm just another NYC nutjob (and i'm not sure i'm not, but that's another story), but what do i have to lose thank...
  23. well, this is why i thought i was ok eating there as well. they DO use a new, clean set of tongs. however, as the saladmaker behind the counter was making the salad for the customer in fron t of me today, i noticed that the tongs went in the blue cheese and then those same tongs went into the next thing he ordered (which i don't even know what it was) ...
  24. not to wish any disease on anyone, but... maybe if some celebrity was diagnosed with celiac disease, and talked about it in the tabloid magazines and tv, maybe it WOULD become the in thing. i know, what a stupid thing to post, but go with me on this for a minute... let's say jenifer aniston had celiac. she's a celebrity who people don't generally hate...
  25. hey everyone i'm a month and a half into my attempt at gluten-free living. It's not so bad. There are so many things that taste great and are filling that I can eat, that it's not such a tough diet. well, at least when I'm at home. and at work has been ok too. until i realized something... For lunch while at work, almost every day I get a salad...
