  1. Welcome Deb! I've never heard of Isagenix before - sounds like it really has been working for you. Autumn - Hope you're feeling better soon! Kat, Cathy, Diana and Shirley - Hi! (Hope I didn't miss anyone.) I did great yesterday - ate well and went to the new center and played around on the basketball court for an hour. (I can't remember exactly...
  2. Hi Everyone! I'm excited today because the new community center opened up and I got a great workout in. It was almost empty, being the first day, and probably because I had the day off so I could go right before lunchtime. They have a really nice exercise room with brand new state-of-the-art equipment. I tried several machines and burned lots of calories...
  3. I can handle soy lecithin, but some people can't. I don't tolerate any other form of soy. The Food Allergy and Anaphylactic Network (FAAN) states that soy lecithin is safe for people with soy allergies.
  4. Hi Jenny, I don't really know much about breathing problems like you've described, but I wanted to welcome you to the forum. I would suggest that you try going 100% gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free right away. Hopefully this will help soon. It sounds like you've looked into all the "normal" medical problems that it could be. I used to have problems...
  5. One of the fun things about this thread is that we all have such different tastes and opinions on who's best. It seems like most of us like Blake the best, but can't agree on the girls. I must be showing my age, because I can appreciate Gina's talent, but just don't like that style of music. I LOVED Melinda, as usual. The girls are SO much better than...
  6. Hello and welcome to the board! I have hypothyroid and gluten intolerance too. They seem to go together a lot. It's totally up to you as to what to do. If you think you need a diagnosis of Celiac Disease in order to stick with the diet, then you should make an appointment right away and start eating gluten again. If your experience with your diet...
  7. I'm exhausted too, but it's only 6:50 here, so not quite time for bed. It's been a busy day B - a chunk of raw goat cheese and a handful of raw almonds L - slice of turkey wrapped in a lettuce leaf, 40 gluten-free pretzels and a banana S - 1/2 C apple juice and a sample of hummous and gluten-free tortillas at Trader Joe's (I almost screamed for...
  8. Welcome Maeve! Happy to have you join us! Welcome back, Shirley. I'm glad your trip went well. Diana and Patti - it's nice to see you posting again. I hope you join in more soon! I had a weird day, eating wise. I ran out the door without breakfast. I actually forgot to eat. I had some work at school to take care of (I'm supposed to have Tues...
  9. I'm a raw feeder too. That's my little 7-1/2 month old lab mix pup that my sons are holding in my avatar. Where do you find the best deals on your dogs' meat?
  10. Welcome! You certainly sound like you could have a problem with gluten. Ask your doctor to run the Celiac Panel (blood test) for you. Make sure he runs the whole panel - all 5 tests. Hopefully someone will come on here and tell you the exact names of all 5 tests, I'm not sure I'd get it right. Anyway, I'd start with that. After the test, you can either...
  11. Lisa, I agree about the colonoscopy being terribly painful. I had one done (no sedative or anything) a few years before I had kids and I think it was worse than natural childbirth - no kidding. I'd rather have another baby than have another one of those scopes! Glad you survived though.
  12. Welcome BornToRide! It's good to see another Western Washintonian on here. I'm just a bit north of you in the Federal Way area. I'd look for a new job too - or a transfer to a different area if that's possible.
  13. Have you tried eliminating other foods like soy, dairy and eggs? I had horrible arthritis and it went away when I eliminated all these and nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant). Sometimes, gluten-free isn't enough.
  14. Hi everyone! I hope to "see" you all soon on here. How's everyone else doing? Autumn - you're not that unusual with needing to eat relatively low carb. It's a healthy way for a lot of people to eat. I do better for sure when I don't eat grains, potatoes or corn, or just eat one of them once a day. Spaghetti squash is delicious topped with spaghetti...
  15. You could try making chocolate chip cookies from the recipe on the back of the chocolate chip package. That's what I do and they turn out perfect every time. Just use gluten-free flour mix (Bob's works well, just don't eat it raw) instead of the all-purpose flour. It's cheaper to do it this way too. I mix up brown rice flour (3 C), potato starch (1 C...
  16. What about turkey bacon or sausage? It's good to get protein in the morning. My kids also like string cheese, yogurt, peanut butter (or almond butter) and jelly sandwiches, cheese quesadillas, peanut or almond butter on apples or bananas and whatever might be leftover from dinner that isn't being taken for lunch.
  17. Hope you all had a good weekend! Cathy (Kaycee), Congratulations on doing so well in your walk! I know that I seem to have the same trouble as you do with holding on to weight. I can only lose when I keep under 1500 calories and exercise. I went off wheat, dairy, eggs, soy and a few other foods almost 11 years ago. (I didn't know anything about...
  18. Congratulations! What a great achievement! You should be proud of yourself!!!
  19. Wow, you all move from topic to topic really fast here. I'm sorry to go back to the mercury thing, but you're all more knowledgable than I am. I've been doing some research and it's not good news:( . The dentists that do amalgam removals in my area either aren't covered by insurance or aren't covered by my policy. We don't have the $5 - 8,000 to get...
  20. LOL. The only thing worse than having a lot of muscle weight is having a layer of fat on top! I've been an athlete all my life, but I have a horrid metabolism that seems to think every calorie should go into storage before it goes to energy. If I didn' exercise I'd weigh well over 200 pounds, I'm sure.
  21. Hi Everyone! Welcome Cottage Soul! I'm on the computer because I'm starving and don't want to snack. This is the hardest time of the week for me - Friday afternoon after teaching 8 PE classes and being exhausted by a busy week. I want to eat everything in sight while I'm making dinner. Maybe posting this will help me be strong. I've done pretty...
  22. I think the website, "Vote For The Worst" has had some impact. They are encouraging people to vote for Antonella. We went to it tonight just to look. We were disgusted. I wish people wouldn't try to ruin things for other people. I want to see the best singers stay on and the most deserving win. Sanjaya should have gone along with Nick and Antonella...
  23. Fiddle-Faddle, I found this in the "Prescription for Nutritional Healing", 2nd Edition by James F. Balch, MD and Phyllis A. Balch, CNC. "A study done at the University of Massachusetts revealed that levothyroxine (Synthroid and others), a drug commonly used to treat thyroid conditions, can cause a loss of as much as 13% of bone mass. An estimated ...
  24. Diana - oh please don't think that I'm annoyed with you. That's a problem with message boards and email - you can't read the "tone". And you were absolutely RIGHT! I DO need to cut my carbs and you were observant to see that in my meals. I should have said "LOL". I'm a PE and Health teacher and I've had a lot of training in nutrition - I just need to...
